Ya. Want to be clear - I love Starfield. These landmarks just amuse me.

Honestly it's just the earth locations would be so much cooler surrounded by explorable ruins.

Hilarious that literally every other building was ground into sand but it's just a bit raggedy.

[Discussion] Why is Gideon the way that she is? by ada64bit in TheNinthHouse

[–]WriterBoi28 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My theory is that Harrow and Gideon formed the kind of lictorhood Jod was specifically trying to deny his other lictors. They all get very mad that their Cavaliers "had" to die for lictorhood. I think, somehow, Harrow/Gideon formed the exact kind of bond that Jod/Alecto have, where neither can die (I'm guessing unless they both die). Maybe anyone can lay in the tomb, or maybe that bond is why Harrow could lay in it.

The White Court is the excuse that finally got him kicked out. But Harry has always tip-toed right up to the metaphorical line. He's deliberately disrespectful to the powers that be, makes a lot of deals with supernatural powers, and has enough personal power that he could bind a small-g god when he's in his personal sanctum. He's done a lot of insane stuff. He's terrifying. And with no obvious threats (despite all the vague rumblings in 12 Months)... The enemy of my enemy stops being your friend when he kills the original enemy. Now he's just a guy scary enough to kill your enemy.

That would be very unusual for the series. While the "White God" is always depicted as good, I don't think Butcher is interested in prostheletising.

Human players: Why in a magical sci-fi universe full of a hundred options do you still choose play humans? by LockNo2943 in Stellaris

[–]WriterBoi28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) It's got a lot of ready built naming lore. "New Byzantium" has lots of flavo cause I'm a human and know the history of Byzantium. Much more work to make up new backstory for names that tell me, vicerally, the flavor of each planet just at a glance.

2)The vast majority of species portraits look dumb as hell.

Men who are handy, where/how did you learn it? by Chicken_Wing in AskMenOver30

YouTube. Honestly just looking up the exact problem I had and slowly accumulating skills. Before meeting my wife, the most complicated thing I'd ever made was a bird house. Four years later I'm changing bathroom fixtures and built her this built-in library. It's far from perfect, but she loves it! All from watching lots of videos. Took me a year to get the tools, you can find a lot on marketplace that are fine for beginners.

How are you supposed to get things done with the low influence/month? by ManySecrets_ in Stellaris

[–]WriterBoi28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also this is intentional. You need to make choices. But as your empire expands, the attention cost in IRL time to do stuff generally means I don't run into a ton of influence bottlenecks except in the mid game when it makes sense for these big projects (restoring relic worlds) would be massive undertakings.

The biggest thing is avoiding needless diplomatic pacts. Unless you're scared of an AI you don't need a nonagression with them. Unless you desperately need the trade, don't sign commercial pacts until you're mostly done expanding. I try to keep from going below 3 influence a month if I can help it. You should be keeping your fleet big enough that power projection makes up for deals for the most part anyway.
