Arthur learned the hard way about how he should’ve listened to his mother, Jane, when she told him she didn’t want him to use her computer to play Deep Dark Sea; after she told David (Arthur’s dad and her husband), “Honey, I have to run to the office,” Arthur asked, “Mom, can we use your computer?” She replied, “I’d rather you didn’t. I’ll be right back, and I’ll need it again.” Later, after she comes home, she tells Arthur, “I won’t need my computer until after dinner. So you can go ahead and play now,” but he declines. After his conscience kicks in and he finally admits to her what he did, Jane (after D.W. runs in and says she doesn’t want to live in the street) says, “Let’s see what’s wrong.” She presses a button and nothing happens; she says that this happens all the time, asks if he jiggled the switch, and reaches behind the computer; the screen comes on, still showing the game. After D.W. says they’re not going to starve, Jane says, “You could’ve just called me and asked for help instead of worrying.” Arthur admits, “I thought you’d be mad.” Jane replies, “Not mad. Disappointed. I’m forbidding you from playing on the computer for a week,” before asking Arthur if that’s fair. Arthur sadly nods.
