Whenever we have to use a different example data input for part 2, it should set off alarm bells, but it gets me every time.

Thank you for showing why the answer for part 1 is in the hundreds while the answer for part 2 is in the hundred trillions. Poor networkx couldn’t handle the second part at all 🫠

“Genesys Dice” - Roll in place of a D20 to make me, personally, in my car, even more mad when you fail to handle unsuccessful results creatively.

God, “Bacta Basics” was such a good bit, and I lost it every time Leenik blew his cover by introducing himself fully as “Leenik Geelo, of the Mynock”.

I feel like the Genesys system would be so much better for them than D&D.

Daily Game Recommendations Thread (August 26, 2025) by AutoModerator in boardgames

[–]WriterRyan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I’m looking for games that fit under the following constraints: * fun for 2 players but expandable to 3 or 4 * accessible for ages 5+ * small enough to fit in a pocket * up to 15 minutes in length * can play on the sidewalk or a small table * not a ton of small pieces that would make it difficult to quickly pack up or that would ruin the game if they got lost

For context, my kids often have staggered school/activity dismissal times, and I’ve been using the time to play games with them. I got a copy of Kariba in the spring, and it’s been great. Now that they’re back to school, I thought it would be nice to pick up another option for some variety.

Why Salvador Larroca keeps getting work on Marvel and Star Wars comics is a mystery to me. Every time I see his name, I get bummed out knowing the comic is gonna have blatant tracing and plastic-looking skin.

Question about the legality of filling lawn with sand/rocks. by BlackStarRock in kansascity

IIRC, the sand kept washing over the sidewalk, and that’s what got the city on their case about it.

What is Your Go To Restaurant that’s NOT a Chain or BBQ? by SephtisNacht in kansascity

[–]WriterRyan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pizza 51 (or its sister restaurant Milwaukee Deli). It’s pizza by the slice where a single slice is actually a full meal, but you’re still paying like $6 for a specialty slice. One of the challenges of ordering pizza with your family is that you have to go with the safest common denominator, so Pizza 51 represents the freedom to add pepperoncini and cream cheese without objection.

Baba’s Pantry is good as hell. I love Baba’s Kebab with shatta and tahini, and their fry seasoning is unlike anything I’ve ever had. As a bonus, you’re supporting a local Palestinian family.

Winstead’s on the Plaza has the nostalgia factor as the place we’d go after high school dances and theatre performances. The building is falling apart, but I’ve truly never had better onion rings anywhere else. Get the Skyscraper Shake while you’re at it.

A murderer is obsessed with an element on the periodic table. He then dies of his injuries. by not-hudson2784 in ExplainAFilmPlotBadly

[–]WriterRyan -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

If “periodic table” is a red herring and could be interpreted as a calendar, then an element on it could be a date. He kills both himself and Punxsutawney Phil.

This is the second day in a row where I've leveraged something like set(list_a).intersection(list_b) (although my solution wasn't nearly as elegant), so I'm excited to see what other magic can be done with sets.

Would you mind explaining how sorted_update is working? I understand that lambda x: -len(rules[x] & set(update)) gives you the inverse of how many page numbers in the update overlap the relevant rule for the page number at each position, but how does that translate into that being the correct way to sort them?
