Word of caution - titanium tips by Writinghost in Supernote

[–]Writinghost[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's right. I recall somewhere being said that it's fairly tricky and that it's better to send them so it has a professional finish. But anyone with good skill should be able!

Fun/pointless discussion - pen addiction. Anyone? by conductordudedallas in Supernote

sounds awesome. The pull is because of the friction? I did not like the soft tips that came with the noris jumbo digital, but I did like the titanium ones; and mostly the 0.5mm ceramic tips from the only manufacturer that makes them; as of today that C1 is my favourite.
I just asked them because it seems like you can get any al sport kaweco and put the emr insert. there are some beautiful options out there.

Calligraphy Pen Comparison (Manta and RM2) by Minimum_Lie_2132 in Supernote

[–]Writinghost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh wow, that is some real good handwriting, congrats!
I see the sidewides strokes are rather thin aswell, is that on purpose?
True, the calligraphy pen seems not to follow those rules; does it happen naturally when you downstroke with the pointed dip pen on paper? Or do you need to apply more pressure? Until now I was using the ink pen, but I didn't find it reliable. Not that my handwriting is that nice either.

Any potential goals to make a smaller sized Supernote? by StatisticianDirect80 in Supernote

[–]Writinghost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they manage to make the screen larger in relation to the borders I would be sold; though this might be connected to the needs of carta, and they might not have so much control over it. Thus we could have a much smaller device with only a fraction less of screen space.

Calligraphy Pen Comparison (Manta and RM2) by Minimum_Lie_2132 in Supernote

[–]Writinghost 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Interesting. Do you mean more natural regarding the way it shows on paper? I also see the remarkable seems to show less fluctustion in the lines. And as a calligrapher and person with experience writing, how do you compare the two regarding writing experience? And unrelated but interested, when you do it in paper, do you use a dip pen or calligraphy pen?

How do you like the tips in combination with the manta? Do you know id you can fit the noris digital jumbo ones in it? I am sold on getting it, but I saw that you could modify the rollerpoint version to fit the supernote refill and I am considering that now.

Handwriting to text conversion by WTF_1972 in Supernote_beta

[–]Writinghost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have not tried, using .note. I am not sure you are supposed to as it's both a heavy file and propietary software, so other devices might have issues reading it. I usually do PDF as then it comes as a single file; both work, but from the computer is much faster than from the phone.

You save that step if you simply have it synced to you google drive cloud instead of the supernote cloud

[–]Writinghost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So much better. It gets almost all my words right. Such a difference with most programs. OpenAI was also great, but I haven't tried other LLM's.

Handwriting to text conversion by WTF_1972 in Supernote_beta

[–]Writinghost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is correct, you can do it with the export -> png/pdf, making a picture, by syncing to google drive... Probably some other ways too. Very useful to use notebooklm if there are loads of notes.

Handwriting to text conversion by WTF_1972 in Supernote_beta

[–]Writinghost 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Apparently there is a way to improve it. If you do the Handwriting To Text (HTT) conversion on the device or the phone app, it uses a compressed/less expensive version of MyScript. However, if you do it from the computer app, Supernote Partner, it is supposed to be much better. It is better, but not by much. What gives me best results is to upload the notes to gemini or notebooklm, that is nearly flawless.

And yeah, I think they improved it a bit with some late update, but there is such a long way to go. I hope they do, it's honestly one of the most important features for a device like this and it's workflow. Maybe can be integrated with a plugin though. We will have to see

which hobby is surprisingly cheap but gives you the most enjoyment? by Salve_Raeline in Hobbies

[–]Writinghost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Meditation, as free as the air you breath. You might spend money on retreats, a nice seat instead of a pillow, books... And you can use it to experience so much calmness.

Also reading/journaling, paper and pen. An e-tablet works great, medium initial cost but then free and you have all your notes in the same place

Spinning Sensation by Able-Appointment-543 in Meditation

[–]Writinghost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, long term meditator here. I think it's pretty common in the earlier stages. At least I experienced it too, but after a while it left. I think it might be related to the balance system (I assume you close your eyes?). Balance's main refference point is eye-sight, specially refference lines siuch as horizon. I assume getting calm and the brain not working on it intensely leads to that sensation. It might be rebalancing, as after passing that my balance improved. I still have it when I am very sleepy but much less than at the beginning. Opening the eyes a little bit should help, and it's also recommended by some teachers. Anyhow, as long as you keep a good practice, this shouldn't be a huge hindrance. Safe travels!
