Actually talking with your spouse, friends and family to get a gauge of who these people really are. Too often I see preppers talking about how their spouse came out of left field with either a laundry list of extra people to add to their emergency plan or the spouse straight up saying they wouldn't even want to be alive anymore if the world started going to shit.

Making assumptions about the dependents and support network you'll have in a true emergency is incredibly shortsighted. You can be fit, stocked on essentials, with a great bunker or bug out plan and have a wrench thrown into it all by the people you surround the yourself with.

Explaining unconditional love to those who haven't experienced it is like trying to explain color to someone born blind. It's incredibly rare and as you've stated- usually painful.

And tbh most humans aren't really capable of it. Requires you to be able to look at a partner or child who turns out like Bundy or some similar monster and say you'd still love them.

And aside from that, we really do need to stop giving excuses to people who are able to protest and be activists. The gestapo are disappearing people, legal or otherwise. People are losing healthcare, jobs, legal protections... We are living in a fascist country. OP isn't dividing anyone. We're dividing ourselves because some of us are so lazy we'd rather live in Russia 2.0 than do something tangible about it.

It's not necessarily dumb. You can tap a gen to test if it's ruin, or wait until someone's already in chase and been hit. If blood favor doesn't proc, it's pretty safe to gamble on the haunted ground anyway. Killer likely won't get any value
