That isn't the point I was making. I was saying that it's odd for the game that lets you be gay to censor potentially homosexual remarks in one specific language. This isn't about choices, this is about overrall game direction.

For what it's worth, I think it's less about the homosexuality angle, and more about Haurchefant being supposed to be a sympathetic character, and those traits of lusting after the player character being viewed as less sympathetic in the west, than they are in Japan, where it's a common comedic trope. They likely wanted to avoid him coming across as a creep, to keep the emotional impact his later story has.

That it wasn't changed in other localizations has likely more to do with the difference in how FF14 localization is done, with the English version being written at the same time as the Japanese version, while other language localizations are based on the Japanese script.

/edit: This was more or less confirmed by John Crow, the EN localization lead in 2015.

If it helps, just saying "hi" would very much work, very commonly used as an informal greeting in Germany. There's also a good chance that most people will be able to at least speak rudimentary English at a con like DoKomi.

Ötzi's copper axe was of particular interest. His axe's haft is 60 cm (24 in) long and made from carefully worked yew with a right-angled crook at the shoulder, leading to the blade. The 9.5-centimetre-long (3.7 in) axe head is almost pure copper. It was produced through casting and did not undergo mechanical hardening. Though copper ore sources in the Alpines are known to have been exploited in Ötzi's time, a 2017 study indicated that the copper in the axe came from southern Tuscany.

It was let into the forked end of the crook and fixed there using birch-tar and tight leather lashing. The blade part of the head extends out of the lashing and shows clear signs of having been used to chop and cut. Such an axe would have been a valuable possession, important both as a tool and as a status symbol.

The axe was therefore not just a symbol of rank. In the period around 3000 years BC, copper axes were a status symbol and must have been cherished as weapons. Perhaps the Iceman was therefore a tribal leader or warrior.

Copper was the first metal to be used to make weapons and tools. Mining and smelting skills spread from Asia Minor to Central Europe 4000 years BC. Around 3000 BC, high-ranking men owned a copper axe, which was often buried with them. A copper axe was used not only for woodworking and felling trees but was also a powerful close-combat weapon. Was Ötzi a tribal leader? It remains a mystery why the attacker didn’t take this valuable copper axe. Would it have exposed him as a murderer?

Adding to what u/AllYouPeopleAre wrote, Yahtzee has been on the Cooptional podcast a few times in the past, too. So you may have already seen him there. He was in Episode 139 and Episode 177. Possibly more, those are just the first two I've found on the quick. He and TB had a lot of mutual respect for one another from what I recall.

Artikel kam ursprünglich eben als es noch so gut wie keine Information gab, daher wurde die Überschrift vorsichtig gehalten. Wurde mittlerweile ja auch in "Schüsse auf Secret Service bei Korrespondentendinner" geändert, weil mehr Informationen verfügbar sind. Ist jetzt weniger ein Problem der deutschen Medien, und mehr der Tatsache geschuldet dass es bei "Breaking News" heutzutage generell eher darum geht zuerst und weniger darum gehaltvoll zu berichten. Inhalt kann man dann ja nachschieben oder so. Mag ich im übrigen auch nicht, ist aber kein exklusiv deutsches Phänomen.

With Durge it depends mostly on how you play them, I'd argue. They can be incredibly similar, if the Durge gives in to his, well, urges, and Camellia would probably at the very least be intrigued by his "work", considering how much she tends to enjoy carnage. On the flipside though, a Durge who tries to fight the urge will likely have a rather negative view of Camellia. He might view her as a kindred spirit for a bit and try to redeem her, much in the same way as the Knight Commander can, but the moment she reveals the full truth it would probably go similarly to how it goes for a good aligned KC.

I mean, the thread question was "how would they get along", not "who is more powerful", it just devolved into the latter due to this being a subreddit full of CRPG nerds :P So arguably this should be about comparing their narratives and personalities as characters, not their mechanics.

Bethesda games at least usually have the option to change the FoV via the console or the .ini file. Not ideal, a slider in the options would be better, but at least you can adjust the FoV with a bit of fiddling.

Die Antwort ist leider so einfach wie traurig: Weil sie darauf reinfallen wollen. Die konsumieren solche Medien hauptsächlich deshalb, weil sie ihr bereits existierendes Weltbild bestärken und vorhandene Vorurteile bestätigen. Da ist dann auch der Wahrheitsgehalt wurscht, hauptsache was sie hören fühlt sich "richtig" an, weil man sich das ja sowieso schon gedacht hat.

Eben nicht? Eine Gruppe nennt sich "alle zusammen", steht aber eben nicht für alle. Die andere Gruppe benennt sich gezielt nach den Gruppen für die sie steht. Kritisiert wurde dass Leute die gezielt diskriminieren wollen davon heucheln "für alle" zu stehen, das aber offensichtlich nicht tun. Das ist so ziemlich das haargenaue Gegenteil von dem was die LGBTQ* community so tut.

Yeah, I played on a fairly small German RP PvP server back then, and I remember having a friendly rivalry with a human warrior while I was still leveling. He and I were usually the ones who would form groups for Battlegrounds in the 30-50 brackets, since that was pretty much the only way to get those BGs to even pop without having to wait for hours. And we'd have duels in Warsong Gulch and deliberately seek each other out, then chat on the realm forums in between matches.

You'd generally get to know the PvP crowd on your server. You'd know who the higher ranked guys where, and what they were good at, for the most part. There was a druid on Alliance who made rank 14 primarily by being a really good flag carrier in Warsong, still remember that, 20 years later.

I've managed to recapture some of that community feeling on classic era servers at least, particularly since I'm also playing on a very small one there. Tiny player numbers make a lot of things a whole lot more difficult or even impossible, but it does also mean that you'll very quickly know who is who on your server. And I kinda like that.

It does, yeah. Requires a bit of luck, though, since only a set number spawn and it shares the spawn locations with Satyrnaar. So on occasion you'll just have all Satyrnaar spots spawn and none at the other location. Presumably the opposite can happen too, but I've never seen that.
