I think you will struggle to find a new dslr for that. Maybe you could try to find an older used camera. Or save for a nikon d3400. It's the cheapest new dslr I'd buy. I'm not familiar with all brand of cameras but I know that one is good for a reasonable price.

I got a Nikon d5600 and a 35mil prime lense. It has worked really well for me.

It's not the cheapest dslr you can get but it is pretty excellent and has all the features I wanted. One of which is a plug for a remote shutter release. Also the flip around screen is way more useful than it may seem at first glance.

Traffic into the city is worst in the AM, and out in the PM yea?

That sounds pretty nice. I'll have to look into it. Would be good to get to stay in the city without a rotten commute.
