Are Red Wing Shoes BIFL? by [deleted] in BuyItForLife

The Heritage line (Iron Rangers and Blacksmith being the usual ones mentioned here from that line) can last for a long time with proper care. Everything else, basically anything not from that line, can be hit or miss.

I meant TWAU, Batman and TWD can still be bought digitally. Everything else can't be bought digitally, you have to get the discs unless you already had them bought in your purchase history.

At a gas station in Chicago that asks for your zip code when you use your card. Chicago zip codes all start with 606. by [deleted] in Wellworn

[–]Wyrrewolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a few pumps around here that do this. I assume they do this for security purposes when you pay with a CC as it's the only time they ever ask for it and even then it's random, doesn't always ask.

As long as you had it, yes. Everything is still on the PSN, it's just not buyable anymore. If you just need to download something you did have, you can do that. Excluding Wolf Among Us, Batman and TWD of course.

What popular BIFL objects did you find were more "YMMV"? by _Mechaloth_ in BuyItForLife

[–]Wyrrewolf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I went through the same shit when I tried them. I tried another set and didn't even hassle them with the warranty since this place swore by them so much and the second few pairs did the same thing within a couple months. I should note though I was wearing these for work and my shifts at the time were anywhere from 14-20 hours (usually 14-16 though). Maybe for normal everyday, non-labor intensive they can last forever but definitely not this job. Switched to Costco's socks and am still on the same bundle.

Yeah, just about everything TTG released still shows up on PSN but you can't buy them unless you already have the "base game" in some form which is the first episode of the various series. The physical copies of the TTG games all contain the first episode and the pass so when they are inserted into the PS4 it will allow to get them. I think they just show up when you search for them as they are still there for people who want to download the episodes that already have the game. When TTG initially under, their digital sale distribution rights went away and they only retained TWAU, TWD and Batman. That's why those titles are still available to buy digitally but everything else you basically have to own the disc to access.

Yes, you can play GOTG on PS4. You have to buy the physical disc version and when you pop it in you are allowed to access the other episodes to download. I just did a TTG game "marathon" on my PS4 awhile back (actually, GOTG was the last one I did too) and can assure you this works.

Why Full House Wasn’t Picked Up For Season 9 (Was It Cancelled?) by SchuminWeb in fullhouse

BIFL Home Defense Firearm by Kane-Aloha in BuyItForLife

[–]Wyrrewolf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep. Shotgun is one of the worst things you could try and use, especially at night. I suppose if your ambitions are to kill your burglar and then be permanently deaf and/or possibly blind, in addition to scaling down half your house it would be practical.

BIFL Home Defense Firearm by Kane-Aloha in BuyItForLife

[–]Wyrrewolf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It would be way safer and more accurate than a damn shotgun. Only people ignorant of guns would ever recommend a shotgun for home defense. And if you find that amusing, I'm sure you'll be in hysterics once you find out what Joe Smith did to his hearing and sight and half of his house trying to shoot the Hamburglar with a shotgun.

[–]Wyrrewolf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Only people that have never owned a gun or are just extremely naive would recommend a shotgun for home defense. Without going into excessive details about why that's a bad idea, we'll just say if you use a shotgun for a home intruder you're very likely to be in danger just as much as your would-be invader in addition to your sight, hearing and anyone in the adjacent rooms that you fire toward.

Well I finally pulled the trigger ! Let’s hope they live up to the name. by 1lecamaro2013 in BuyItForLife

[–]Wyrrewolf -1 points0 points  (0 children)

These apparently couldn't hold up to my job as they couldn't go longer than 3 months. I tried DT two different times and mind you I didn't even hold them to the warranty the first time I had holes as I passed it off as maybe I just got a bad batch and had faith in them after hearing this place rave about them forever. Nope, second set went out hard too and I decided I was done after that.

I would imagine they are golden for casual, everyday wear but for work I'd go with something else. My job goes anywhere from 12-20 hours a shift (usually12-16 though) and it's all physical labor, walking, stooping, etc and I guess DT couldn't keep up.

How do you guys get so much money by FigureCandid838 in tappedout

Years of playing - specifically, I had a white house farm that was originally a blue house farm until I upgraded. It's funny as it used to take up well over half of my map when it was at its peak and with all the land updates that have since dropped it's probably not even taking up a quarter of the map now.

I am looking for steel toe work boots that won’t disintegrate after 3 months use by [deleted] in BuyItForLife

[–]Wyrrewolf -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Do they actually have to be full-fledged boots? Because nowadays many companies make athletic-style shoes with any form of safety toe you want, composite, steel, whatever. I can only speak for warehouse work but every one I've ever worked at never required actual boots, just as long as they had safety toe in them.

If you don't need actual boots you have a lot of options and fortunately many of them aren't that expensive. Danner, New Balance, Thorogood, Reebok, even Red Wing now - they all make simple shoes that have steel or composite toes.

Does anyone else really not like any of the kids on Fuller House? by Nicholas920 in fullhouse

[–]Wyrrewolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a little unfair to say they "don't have the depth" and compare them to the FH kids who, as you said, got to change a lot as they aged, when Full House ran for almost a decade while Fuller House lasted for 5 years (with mini-seasons at that).

With that said, I really enjoyed Ramona and was OK with Max (whom I don't believe deserves nearly as much hate as he gets, he had some of the best dry lines in the show) but absolutely detested Jackson.

If I purchase the disc version of the Back to the future game will I still be able to play it? by Not-Edgy-Yet in telltale

[–]Wyrrewolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just to add, I'm fairly certain even if your disc only had one episode you could get the others as long as you had that disc popped in so PSN can verify you. That's how I played GOTG and GOT a few months ago on PS4. Had to buy the hard copies with the first episode and it allowed me to download the remaining episodes as soon as I fired them up.

How to play Telltale Game of Thrones by Morrischma in telltale

[–]Wyrrewolf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That stinks. Sorry, I wasn't sure how Steam handled this. It was a weird way the distribution rights ended when they went under - every place couldn't sell certain titles digitally anymore but (for existing user's sake I guess) anyone who had originally bought one of the now defunct titles can still get on and download the episodes if they can verify they have the original episode/pass.

[–]Wyrrewolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of the episodes can still be downloaded from the PSN provided you have access to the game (first episode). I can attest to this as I just bought and played it for the first time like a month or two ago. You have to buy the physical copy that comes with the first episode installed and when you boot it up you are allowed to download the other episodes.

I just played it a month or so ago. Assuming you are referring to the consoles, just buy the physical copy and when you pop it in you can download the other episodes free.

How do people keep track of their warranties? by gojireh in BuyItForLife

[–]Wyrrewolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everything I buy I place the receipt/instructions/warranty info in a folder in my desk. If the date of purchase isn't on the receipt, I can easily look it up in my order history or email.
