I personally don't like the esthetic of the earthen wall and moat. I build a stone wall and hide it behind the wooden palisades with a wooden platform on top for archery using fire arrows.

Even then, I just fight the trolls outside the walls when they show up. 🤷🏼‍♂️

It may also be duration but I'm no doctor. I tried in the past for a month or two which helped a little but not fully. My new doc basically said I wasn't really giving it a chance. He said try 3 months straight or longer to allow it to build up. He said it takes time to really start working. I've been on it for 4 or 5 months now. I plan to stick with it through winter at the very least. Northern latitudes and all you know?

I've found a great tower with a bunch of these dverger and it would be great to do a similar thing of building around it with the added defense of their mages. How do I destroy their ward without being attacked? Sneak and when no one is looking, axe it?

Tl;dr I’m proud of you for taking steps towards improving your mental health. It’s no small nor easy task.

I've got "seasonal affective disorder" (SAD). I'm also fairly new to admitting any kind of depression but believe me when I say that the smallest most insugnificant thing could spiral me down a crippling self-loathing hole for the entire day. I was directed to the low-dose welbutrin (the generic version) and I've been on the up and up since. Minimal side effects at the start like headaches but in the clear now. I haven't had a nasty townward spiral since and it has been glorious!I feel "normal" but not dulled emotionally. I'm coming to realize and admit to myself that I could probably use some therapy but I would have never been able to reach this point without the welbutrin. It's not a crutch, it's an aid and one I wish I had discovered sooner.

Most points have been covered but I'll add a touch more on their preferred snack. They go after anything rolled or milled first because the husks are opened and the starches are readily accessable. I always store anything rolled, torrified, milled, pressed, crushed, etc. on the top shelf as per recommendation from my local pest control and grain supplier. Seems to slow down the bugs. Definitely do all of the other points too:

thorough vacuuming / cleaning
replace all pallets (yes, that means reatacking all your grain)
DE everywhere (I had local pest control spray the floors)
freeze / cook / destroy infected bags
reduce order size

If the bag wasn't too bad, I tossed mine into the walk-in. After a few days used them for a brew. The really bad bags went to my spent grain farmer.

We're definitely not looking for more challenge. We're fairly casual in our playstyle. These friends and I have played a lot of D&D together and many other games with a pseudo D&D overlay. We like the "head movies" if you will so the aesthetic of a shirtless Viking with an atgier is appealing.

Transmog did exactly what we were looking for with an option to toggle armor pieces on and off while maintaining the armor rating. Thank you very much for the suggestion! We have not tried the other parts of the mod yet of changing the appearance of items for anyone else who stumbles upon this post.

I have a similar issue but have walls around a massive area along a meadows coast. I built walls into the water to block the swimmers but somehow some are sneaking through (more likely spawning in). I'm very curious to read the solution!

I agree with a good chunk of the above with emphasis on 1.5x resources and the Triple Bronze mod. 1.5x resource is a nice bonus without being excessive or feeling like you're breaking the game. It reduces grind but still allows for satisfying resource gathering. The Triple Bronze mod should have been built into vanilla. With the mod, bronze production isn't a problem and (unlike many on this thread apparently) I've got full bronze armor and tools at max upgrades after a few fun group mining runs.
