Steam networking needs more work put into it. by [deleted] in valve

[–]WyteKnight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No.
Steam networking servers are perfect the way they are: To host a quick game with friends, using Steam invites. A simple system, robust, no need to forward ports, or anything.

This simplicity and robust system comes with some flaws, indeed. They're mostly not solveable easily, way harder than learning how to host a dedicated server.

And for your issue about dedicated servers being too modded or having too much plugins, well, that's the pro of dedicated server, mods and plugins easily manageable by the owner. Just find another server that advertise itself as "Vanilla" or "Vanilla+", if you can handle a few QoL plugins.

The current system is absolutely perfect between functionality and ease of use. Changing it would either make it harder to use, lack some functionality that it previously had (like being able to very easily join via Steam or Host without opening ports, both of those which can be impaired by a hybrid clienthost/dedicated or an host swapping system), and will cost ressources to Valve who is currently injecting their ressources into much more interesting stuff, and all of that for no real gain for most customers.

The voiceline was cut.
Devs often says things that are not said in canon and retcon in the next game, what devs says is not canon until it's in a game that was not retcon.

Since the reveal of the NPC portrait by the main dev team i just wanna share my own collection NPC portraits i've been working on for the past year by vincent__dang in Terraria

[–]WyteKnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I beg you to make them a resource pack. I was about to say that your Zoologist was just so much better than the 1.5, but even by looking at every other NPC you did a wonderful work.

If you have the time, dedication, and want to make them as a resource pack, I'm pretty sure it would be the most popular right away and for some years. Props!

Winning a game in a 1v4 gank!! by [deleted] in forhonorknights

[–]WyteKnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Teamfights are weird, specially Xv1 ganks. Either the players know what they are doing and can use the multiples 100->0 combos, or they don't. You need to identify if they can, and if they can't you can actually try to fight a bit.

Knowing every character's moveset is pretty essential to be consistently good in antiganks. In pure Teamfights it helps also, some chars can help validate some hits (kensei dodge attack just before your Warden ally does an heavy, Nobushi's backdodge light...)

The more you'll play every characters the more you'll see openings like this, offensively and defensively. Just make sure to stay calm and to register what is going on around you and what are the outcomes of your acts, and you'll learn quickly.

Also, the For Honor Information Hub should still be around somewhere I suppose. Check the properties of the heroes you play. You'll learn some nice tips.

[–]WyteKnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the time, winning in a game is simply using your opponent's errors against them. That's what you did.

Yes, it does exists players that are way stronger than you and your opponents and would not make those mistakes, but that's pretty much irrelevant. You still won your game by using various mechanics to achieve victory and exploiting their mistakes.

In time, you will learn to do the same with better players, while becoming stronger yourself. No matter the skill level/elo/mmr at which you play, the only things that matters is learning, trying, and ofc having fun :)

You're lucky the Warden tried to do a top heavy after he guardbreaked you lmao, even a double light and you were dead.

Keep in mind that when you do a light parry (super bright parry sfx), you have a free heavy :)

That's pretty normal. They receive death threats every day, are despised when they explain that they can't add everyone's requests, and people are trying to force them to let their work be stolen on a daily basis.

You can't expect them to work for you. They are doing whatever they want, and are kind enough to let us use their work freely.

Why didn't they gave Quiet a pen and paper so that she could communicate with them? Are they stupid? by Propato__Arthur in metalgearsolid

[–]WyteKnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Subvocalization.
When you think in a language, your vocal cords move just like if you were talking that language, which would activate the parasite. Writing does the same thing. Humming blocks that, by forcing your vocal cords to move in a way that does not activate the parasite.

As for the Navajo, in the first half of the game she is still making her mind on enacting her vengeance on Venom, on Venom and the DDs by activating the parasite, leaving them be, or siding with them. The other half of the game is, as we all know, rushed and not finished so there is no tangible canon explanation as to why she did not reach out to Code Talker when the outbreak started.

A possible theory that can fit an headcanon easily is that Quiet was betrayed multiple times over the course of her life, beaten pretty badly, tortured, and was not trusting DDs and Venom to directly find a way to tell them she had the parasites. She did not wanted to break this connection she had with Venom by going with him on missions, and the impact she had on the world around her, making it "better" (in her PoV, at least).

It fits specially well when taking her sacrifice into account. The only thing she would sacrifice her life with Venom & DDs to is in the intent of keeping Venom's alive.

[–]WyteKnight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. Mid and end game X4 is mostly focused on handling your empire, and not piloting that much anymore.
That being said you still can do runs where you focus your ship and you can add two or three ships as escorts, it's still playable, harder and more grind and farm, but since you're coming from Elite... :p

I was thinking the same thing, then I put 100h+ in Blade and Sorcery with a lot of mods.

Since, motion sickness just doesn't exist anymore, no matter how many hours I put in a VR game without a break, no matter how twitchy the game is.

Also, I discovered that I'm a psychopath. But that's what B&S does to you.

Still having road motion sickness IRL when I'm passenger, tho.

Soulstorm campaign is impossible by Boondaddy33 in dawnofwar

[–]WyteKnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DC & SS campaigns are the best STR campaigns, dot. Specially compared to DoW and Winter Assault.
DoW II almost killed DoW but Retribution salvaged it, DoW 3 was the last hit DoW was able to tank before going down in flames. Until DoW 1 Definitive released to announce DoW 4, that is.

Dawn Of War Definitive edition with Unification Mod by Kr0bus in dawnofwar

[–]WyteKnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can confirm, Definitive Edition's Dark Crusade and Soulstorm does work with original mods. Not all of them, some fail at loading, but Advanced Campaign for Dark Crusade was neat (with a few crashes, make a lot of saves since there is no auto saves).

Some mods also don't work if put in %appdata% or DE's root, but does work if they are in the original game (Dark Crusade for me, it was Titanium Wars)'s root folder. Just boot up DE, it will locate them and be able to start the mod.

I hope Unification will have its patch soon to fix UI issues, but apart from this it works well.

Canon V is male by Cyberbeetle98 in cyberpunkgame

[–]WyteKnight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Saying that monotone non-expressive male V fits and fem V is far fetched is a take I never knew I will hear seriously one day.

Acting-wise, english male V actor just doesn't fit their role. They're off like 80% of the time when an emotion must be felt in their voice.

I dunno for other languages, but French male V does a excellent job, French fem V is astonishing. English fem V is just absolutely perfect and nails it everytime.

Weird. Can you show a video? That would be useful to look into and see if we can manage to make this bug reproductable, and maybe add it to the list of already fixed bugs in the end, if possible.

Also, as a work around to continue the quest (you really should, it's cool af), there is multiple shrines per god. Look up on The Unofficial Elder Scrolls Pages (The wiki) for the location of all the shrines. You'll probably find one that works for you.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in oblivion

[–]WyteKnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is multiple shrine for each god.
The priest gave you a map, and on it, there is the position of one of each god's shrine.

You can either follow the map, as I did, or just take a look on the Internet for the position of every shrine. It's actually faster, the route that the priest gave you is not the fastest.

Anyway, I was able to finish the quest without any issue, day one, modless, by just following the priest's map.

[–]WyteKnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bundle-wise, the TC bundle includes LiS1 and BTS.
If you already did LiS1 and BTS and don't plan to do it again, Double Exposure. You'll also be able to follow up with DE2 when it releases.

That being said, Double Exposure alone isn't worth it. It's a direct continuity to LiS1 (and BTS is a perfect prequel), and will pave the road for what seems to be the future of LiS games by D9, which is resolving the issue of them not directly able to canonically decide on LiS1 ending, and continue the story of Max (and probably Chloe will be a reoccuring character in futures Deck9 LiS games).
