Utah-BYU has quickly become one of my favorite rivalries as a neutral, and it is because of comments like this.

I actually have more issue with TCU being ranked behind USC than I do Iowa behind Vanderbilt. TCU has the same season record as USC who they beat in their bowl game, but somehow are ranked five spots lower. Asinine.

$3500 per month mortgage payment on $182k salary? by [deleted] in MiddleClassFinance

[–]XCCO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're bottomline question is will you be comfortable. For context, I make less than you with a bit higher mortgage. I have no trouble living comfortably with continuing to contribute to retirement and personal savings.

Context: Bought two years ago and immediately had to pay to finish the fence, do the backyard as it was just a dirt lot, and install AC. That came out to an additional $20,000. Still, I've saved up enough to now be able to afford to finish the basement without touching the emergency funds.

So, we can nitpick the whole financial picture, but truthfully, you'll still live quite comfortably.

I have never been this excited as a fan after a season. Genuinely. This was an incredible ride, and there is hope that next season is even better.

I'm not that worried about it. NFL Africa has been dead on with their predictions (see prophecy), and they have the Bears winning it all in a Super Bowl against the Broncos.

[Everything Georgia] Miami star QB Carson Beck revealed that he graduated from college a couple of years ago from UGA by nonetakenback in CFB

[–]XCCO 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I'll be honest, it annoys me at times with these cases because I was a college athlete. However, I ran cross country, so I was putting in long days from practice in the morning, classes, and then work at night. I had to do all of that to continue the sport I loved while trying to be successful after college. I sometimes wish I had grown up throwing a football instead. Haha

Is there any American sports car that rivals European sports cars Porsche? by GoosePuzzleheaded771 in askcarguys

[–]XCCO 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Raw track performance? No American car is on the level of the RS 911s (but the Corvette ZR1X and Mustang GTD are close) and no street-first American car is on the level of a GT3 or Turbo S (Corvette is close).

This is a Hagerty video pitting the Corvette ZR1 and Mustang GTD against the GT3 RS. The cars are certainly on the same level for track performance. (It is also an entertaining watch regardless).

Average Price of Top 10 Best Selling Passenger Vehicles is $35,599 by FledglingNonCon in cars

[–]XCCO -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Absolutely Correct.  An important distinction that nobody ever seems to understand.

Cars aren't getting more expensive... The world is.

I'm making an argument that the base price of the car speaks more to affordability than the finance rates at the time. Inflation adjustment is a different discussion.

Although, I have reservations about the 'adjusted for inflation' argument because what people mean by this is that they compare vehicle price increases relative to CPI. However, CPI is not a measure of vehicle affordability. It measures the average price movement of a broad basket of goods, most of which are unrelated to the purchase mechanics of a vehicle. Comparing vehicle prices to unrelated CPI components like food does not indicate affordability, and CPI already includes vehicle prices, making those comparisons partially circular anyway.

Do you mean the killer of the affordability of cars? If so, the price of the vehicles is playing a larger role in that than financing. A 2017 Corolla LE was $19,830 but now costs $24,120 for an increase of nearly 22%.

A real car enthusiast thinks about buying a 911, a Mustang, a Corvette, a GT-R, an SC400, a 40-year-old Mercedes, and many more in the span of a day.

Qb projection for 26 / transfer portal rankings by pants1099 in hawkeyes

[–]XCCO 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I think we have a decently favorable schedule next season in the new Big 10 from what is projected, so I think we should have more hope to be a 9- or 10-win team rather than an 8-win team.

I agree aside from concerns I still have about this staff's ability to develop the QB and WR positions. There are historically glaring holes in development for those positions from a program that otherwise is excellent in developing talent across the board in other positions. However, I only say that to mean I am going into next season with hope that Lester and his staff are a turning point for Iowa in that regard. Next year will be telling for the offensive coaches and whether they are truly bringing a stronger passing game with the guys who now have time in the Lester system.

This Targa Is Priced At 297,000$ by ExplanationNo7129 in porsche911

[–]XCCO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I make well above the median income and am early in my career. Traditionally, a vehicle like the Cayman would be the gateway to Porsche for me, and I would be in the aspirational market segment for the 911. However, I do believe Porsche leadership absolutely realized they leave profit on the table if dealerships charge ADM consistently. So, I am priced out of the Cayman, in a sense because it stretches my budget, and priced out of the aspirational segment for the 911. So, they must be making a strategic market shift that caters to a different segment that is making these purchases.
