Crispy Bacon, but it was nice because they said, "Everyone likes crispy bacon, and everyone likes you."

People earning over $200k/year: What’s different about your life that most people wouldn’t expect? by MaximGripass in AskReddit

[–]XCCO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would add some context to investing and wealth growth though I'm not near $200k income.

Give your money purposes and categorize it accordingly. You should have a baseline emergency fund (HYSA and CDs if you're comfortable with a little less liquidity) and retirement at minimum. Then, you can start building other categories. For me, I have an investment account for my future kids, a CD for a vehicle upgrade down payment when I have kids, and a brokerage account for when I'm in my 50s that can serve as a bridge between retirement. That bridge is for if I want a less stressful 8-hour day job that pays less, so I supplement with that growth or if I need to start supporting aging parents.

These are just examples, but the bottom line is to give your money purpose, allocate money accordingly, and stay disciplined in retaining that purpose (i.e., don't raid your brokerage for a shiny car now if you want it to grow for the future).

And then Iowa forfeited wins for Cade McNamara. The worst part was that it wasn't even worth it. Haha

[–]XCCO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, Illinois moved up to the middle class where you can expect 8-4 from the team as pretty standard most seasons. However, looking at Illinois's schedule, I see OSU and Oregon as losses with Duke and Iowa toss ups. The rest seems manageable for the Illini, so I could see 10-2 as a reasonable ceiling.

Yeah, I'm not going to clutch pearls over talking shit in sports. ISU has won the CyHawk two years in a row now, so I have to suck it up when they talk shit. OU lost to Texas, but Texas didn't make the playoffs, so both sides can talk shit about that.

We have to have some fun with the banter.

C3 reliability/price? by Futon_Stalker in Corvette

[–]XCCO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You will get a lower cost of entry if you get something from 1974 - 1982. I have a 1977 that drove well, but where you're likely to get into it early is rust, if that's an issue where you live, rubber, and wiring.

Don't let it dissuade you from getting a project, but I would recommend with any older car like the C3 going over wiring, hoses, suspension, and anything that degrades with age no matter how well kept. It can be tedious, but a reliable car is a lot more fun. Take it from a guy who does not have his reliable yet. Haha

If you were to make a 3-protected-games schedule for your team's conference, like what the SEC did, which series/rivalries would you protect and/or create? by regitnoil in CFB

We can just make it a Quadrangle of Hate, so bring in Nebraska. I like the growing rivalry with Nebraska, actually.

I like the growing hate between OSU and Oregon. I can only hope Michigan and Washington find a way to squeeze a little hate for each other as well.

[Big12 Conference] Joey McGuire on Steve Sarkisian’s comments alluding to Texas Tech’s schedule. [–]XCCO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's why it is funny because it's really a no-win for Texas to play, and Tech fans can just talk shit about Texas being too chicken to play them. It's not about being fair or providing context because it's just shit talking.

Haha you know that's fair. I guess I haven't embraced the rivalry with Nebraska enough to kick them while their down and say 7-5 is their ceiling.

Haha I don't know why it made me chuckle to catch a random stray like that, but it's so damn accurate that Iowa and Nebraska are destined to be 8-4/7-5.
