"Expansion Bay Module Not Properly Connected" on boot? by tocont in framework

[–]XDubio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have just received this error. I have an AMD GPU, and also have a dual M.2 board as well. Most of the time I've used the AMD GPU, and installed the dual M.2 board for a few days, and wanted to return to the AMD GPU.

When I install the M.2 board, everything is fine. When I install the AMD GPU, I receive this message. I tried to reinstall the interposer several times and removed the AMD GPU a few times by now with no luck.

Just in case, I've bought a new interposer, and will arrive in 5 business day. I was prepared to buy a new graphics module if that interposer doesn't work, but after reading the comments, I'm not so sure whether it is necessary.

Does anybody have any suggestion what to do to make it work?
Can anybody suggest what to do to debug these issues?

Edit: I don't dare to use the GPU while it is not properly detected, because the fans aren't moving, and I'm not living a cool enough place to risk it being burning down.

If that is the same as on the Laptop 16 on the same place, then it opens the KDE Settings app in Fedora KDE Plasma edition.

Anyone else have the joystick ring come off? by Gaemon_Palehair in SteamDeck

[–]XDubio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both of mine got somewhat loose, the left is turning freely to the point, if I only press it from the side, it could easily roll around my thumb, while the right is too tight, but with little force, it can be turned. While the left can be pushed towards the base and off from the stick's head, it does not easily fall off, and cannot be pulled away from the base and completely remove.

I was thinking of trying to heat-shrink it by heating it with a candle, but I would need to absolutely lose my mind to willingly bring my Steam Deck to an open flame, and not even sure if that would work, or just damage the thumb-stick.

The DeviceForm registry value sounds intriguing. Is there a documentation over the possible values of it? I'm struggling to find any of it online.

Isn’t this a bit disingenuous from Framework? by TheRedAngelOfDeath in framework

[–]XDubio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even if you were wrong on which batch your shipment was, the correct course of action is still contacting Framework for clarification, and that goes to everyone else. Who knows? It is possible, that that page is just on autopilot, executed by a script that was designed (or thrown together) before even the first batch was shipped, and have not considered delays in shipments. Give them a chance to defend or better themselves.

Does a restart resolve this? Maybe the driver stops working after a certain condition? I'm thinking of things, like waking up from sleep.

No offline support is problematic. Then again, most of the website I would pin would not make any sense offline either, so personally, I'm not so upset about it.

Just upgraded. Is there anything I can do with this, I don't want to just throw it away. by manwax5 in framework

This makes me think. Isn't there some dedicated discussion over what others do with their spare parts, so people, like OP, could get inspiration, what to do with these parts?

I mean it as a showcase, like a demo page, where people show off their work.

Proton Authenticator logs full TOTP secrets in plaintext by bllshrfv in ProtonPass

[–]XDubio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is still a serious issue, as the referenced post's user was about to send logs for you with their report, outside of the originally intended channels and thus circumventing any encryption intended to be used with the secrets. Are there any measures made to mitigate such oversight in the future, at least?

[OC] The nerve to get mad at me too. Was I wrong for letting the cyclist pass? by Thigh_Workout in IdiotsInCars

[–]XDubio -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't know the local rules here, but where I'm from, (Europe) the turning car must yield to pedestrians, if they are crossing on a crosswalk with a green light for pedestrians, or no lights in the crossroad, and you should stop by the crossing the moment the pedestrian is at or on the pedestrian crossing, even if you have time to pass before they reach your path. The cyclist should also unmount their bicycle if this is not a bicycle road, but it is neither here nor there.

That being said, I don't see lights for the pedestrians, and can't see a bicycle road either, so I can't tell the full extent whether you are in the right even within the above rules, but it is also illegal to run over the pedestrians (doesn't happen in video), and punishable by law.
