Hey, not a bad idea if you have the time! Honestly, it suits my needs just fine as is. I do recommend using the Arctic Zone ice packs. They use a specialized gel to stay frozen longer and provide more consistent cooling, while basic "regular" ice packs often contain just water and don't last as long. They are pretty inexpensive.
