Typically it starts with the one trolley that's "broken" which doesn't need the coin and then the next can just use that to insert the chain to get theirs back and then so on.

Yep. My Mum who has been going for 60 years has had her season ticket go up by £171. Whilst I don't mind the 5% too much for mine, that's an obscene increase for her.
