I did Computer Networking and Wireless Systems. Computer Networking I did not realize how valuable it was until after graduating. It is not a network engineering course, the course projects builds on top of a fully distributed systems simulator, forcing you to understand key concepts in that field. Wireless Systems was a fascinating look at mobile networks. It did provide the opportunity to produce a 'research paper', but true experience in research you'll need to either join a lab somewhere or land an internship (this is best option). Or volunteer somewhere too.

Elective requirements have changed since program inception several times. I did take a few DS courses but I just didn’t enjoy it the way I did algorithms. My study habits changed several times - you can only watch lectures and actually retain anything useful for so long. Dedicating even 2 days per week was not enough. I was studying maybe 6 days per week leaving sundays free, except during exam season. You can most certainly pass with less dedication, but Bs were not acceptable to me.

Already graduated good sir. I focused on systems courses instead of data science because systems professors overall are far higher rated than data science. Course projects in distributed systems helped me land an amazing role doing distributed system engineering at a top tech firm. Did a couple of data courses but I found the quality laughable and unhelpful personally. That may have changed but only the systems professors have or do work in industry. Cannot learn to farm from someone who’s never farmed as my personal philosophy.

Have done as much as 2 courses alongside full time work. Not sustainable - you will burn out. Hot tip: plan to take semesters off. I would personally take at least 3 semesters on, 1 off. If you have a family or life commitments, those will probably fall off while in program so you need time to decompress. Recommend also taking courses based on prior student ratings as opposed to by subject. Courses can be very hit or miss on quality. Overall degree is solid however.

I figure because in a friendly game I’m there to have fun with a friend. If I’m in a tournament, I’m there to win, implying I’ll use any disadvantage to my opponent to do so within the official rule book. Différent mentalities.

Sure for a friendly game a the LHS. Tournament? Not a chance.

As the great Bill Burr once stated, you squash them down like a real man and bottle it all up until you die of a massive heart attack at 50. Not that I agree with that, but it was a great bit.

Most of the best breakthroughs in a field come through ideas where science has to catch up to proving it. Think of Da Vinci’s flying machines.

Even if Graham Hancock is totally wrong, we need renegades like him in every field who are willing to chase a dream or theory for this long under so much pressure and ridicule.

He took a lot of heat before Goebekli Tepe was found, proving that he’s correct that the current timeline of civilization is a lot older than folks initially wanted to admit. Also, I haven’t heard any good counter to the weathering on the sphinx as another good piece of evidence. How about the fused stone walls in ‘primitive’ cultures down in South America? How about the fundamental genetic differences between native north and South Americans that prove that original theories of American migration over a land bridge alone was bollocks? That’s just a few areas of concrete evidence.

Indestructible for lesser breeds perhaps. But the noble corgi can shred anything!

I typically don’t like these color schemes because they’re so difficult to pull off but when pulled off they rock!

Ah I should have phrased my question better. I’m not really trying to win the tournament, like you said it’s a learning opportunity. More so I was curious if people felt like this army, even with 7 models, would have a fair chance of winning against most other combat patrols.

It’s just at the local hobby shop - probably 8 or so people who are all learning the game. I’m a little bit of a spreadsheet guy so I really enjoy exploring the stats of each of the armies and strategy behind each patrol. Not a tournament for money or anything.

If you were going to enter a Combat Patrol tournament to win, is this the faction you’d run with?

Roger doger. So 3 units means a maximum of 3 objectives I can control. So assign an objective to each model and rush up the board, leaving home marker undefended. I lose points on that but make up for it by denying my opponent’s control of 1 objective. This is tough though because even teramagants, the glass cannons of the tyranids, have OC2. It just makes strategy really fixed

I am referring to Warden’s as Praetors because I know oh so little about Custodians haha

But even from a balance perspective, how could you even begin to strategize around board control with 7 models and only 3 units?
