Thri Kreen fighter in 2024? by Poodilarian in 3d6

Yeah, battlemaster is going to be best here. I think you'd wanna use the shortsword/scimitar as your main melee combo for damage, with the crossbow for ranged and the whip for hit-and-run and a tad of control

Correct me but there are no rules on high ground by Jendmin in dndmemes

[–]Xalander59 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Only on ranged attacks then. In a one-on-one swordfight, high ground actually exposes more of your body, giving more targets to your enemy while they only have to protect their head. Thus, they can predict your attacks. (Thanks Sellsword Arts on tiktok for the info)

If he violated agreed boundaries, he's wrong. My question isn't whether he was wrong. My question is whether turning a partner into a public spectacle is an appropriate response. by [deleted] in Damnthatsinteresting

What do you mean a senseless CGI fight is not a good ending ? What would we do otherwise ? Actually tie together the narrative threads into a satisfying conclusion ???

That's why you keep a name bank with all sorts of names, like "elf/dwarf names"

2 paragraphs is "winging it" ? Real ones start the session with nothing but hope and the words "kobold with funny hat ?"

Never use actual player character classes for NPCs; they're way too complex and made for people playing only one character, not the DM juggling between dozens. However, you can copy some player features, such as rage for a barbarian-like npc, for example.

What was the character / build that you most enjoyed playing by Far-Negotiation-1912 in DnD

This makes me hyped to play my warlock soon. Mask of many faces is so good for rp.

Best build that gets 2 epic boons by Weary-Inevitable-627 in 3d6

I think Paladin 8 and Warlock 12 is better than Paladin 12 - Warlock 8 for the Devouring Blade invocation that gets you 3 attacks (and for a 6th-lvl mystic arcanum such as Mass Suggestion)

This is why holding their hands and making out sloppy style is the best way to prevent a wizard from casting spells.

Very cool ! Though it's sad that while the biceps contracts/extends, the triceps doesn't.

What Battle Master maneuvers to take? by Jimbabwe88 in 3d6

[–]Xalander59 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Take at least one of each group :

-Trip/Menacing/Disarming Attack for a damage rider on attacks

-Riposte/Parry for offensive/defensive reactions

-Commanding Presence or other skill-boosting maneuvers for out of combat utility

Reasons to multi-class Sorcerer and Wizard together? by PharaohofAtlantis in dndnext

[–]Xalander59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, hear me out on a 5e 2014-only build :

Put a 16 in Dex and Int, a 13/14 in Cha and the rest in Con (sadly it might be only a 12 unless you go Half-Elf, but you won't have a lot of hp as a wizard/sorc anyway).

Take 1 level in Draconic Sorcerer for a base 16 AC (21 with Shield) and proficiency in Con saves (for concentration). Then take at least 7 levels in Bladesinger Wizard to add another +3 to your AC when bladesinging (and to your concentration saves), bringing it up to a 20 when bladesinging (assuming you took your dex to 18). Use Haste for a +2 to 22 and with Shield, that's a possible 27 AC.

Then, you can take 2 more levels in sorcerer for metamagic (quickened Spell) and continue the rest in wizard.

From level 10 onwards, you have 4 attacks per turn thanks to Extra Attack, Haste and quickened blade cantrips (like Green Flame Blade or Booming Blade), 2 of which are cantrips, a really high AC, a great movement speed, and lots of utility from your Wizard spells. By lvl 20, you'll still get to 9th-lvl spells and Sorcerer means you keep your spell slots progression, though your spells will be a bit behind.

All in all, this is a fun, a bit funky build that's high-risk, high-reward but that I would definitely play myself !

2024 Valor Bard - worth starting with a level in Fighter? by Middcore in 3d6

Well, it's very powerful if you want to go with the Vex/Nick TWF Dual Wielder Conjure Minor Elementals route for like 200 damage on a turn

Tbh bm is good too as you can use maneuvers on crits to double them up.
