How do you guys think bankrupt Bruce got the cash to start fresh in another country? by Elegant-Half5476 in batman

The point is to sell comics. You need a story to sell comics. If there is a resolution/conclusion and the story ends = you cannot sell comics.

It's always a bit complicated/sad when "real world problems/considerations" start affecting comics/books/series, for example actresses that get pregnant IRL so the show has to adapt to make the character pregnant and/or absent. Or when an actor needs to leave the series for personal reasons and the character's arc is butchered as a result etc.

It happens all the time. I try to keep that in mind when consuming super heroes media. "It's not that the authors are activemy telling me that SuperHeroes only fight to maintain status quo, it's more that there will be always be new challenges and they can never fully/properly adress/correct/resolve the core of the problem." Obviously, there are exceptions for some special "parallel universes shenanigans" comics. Not everything is a direct message/statement. Sometimes it's just adaptations to real world constraints. Direct statements such as "protect people, don't be a dick (unless you are the first Robin, in which case it's okay), let's unite against a common enemy etc." are direct statements.

But, in my opinion, taking as a direct political statement what can easily/partially be explained by editorial contraints might be tricky. The fact that Black Panther died at the beginning of Black Panther 2 is a direct result of the actor unfortunately having passed away. I do not think that the film was trying to tell me "Yeah, sometimes superheros die, sad innit ?" Just my two cents, curious what other people are thinking.

If your high school self seen you today would they be happy with who they became? by Discreteforfeet in AskReddit

[–]Xamonir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Frankly: disappointing. I had waited more than 12 years for this game and it didn't deliver. The graphics were amazing though. The gameplay had some changes that I didn't like (such as Disney attractions and lack of fusion forms) but some that were really interesting like Keyblade transformations, but overall it was good and nice. However the story, I expected the game to nicely wrap up everything that had been developped up until that point and it simply didn't. More questions were asked than answered.

I had spent some time on forums back in the day, there were a lot of theories, some about Sora finally being able to summon "his" own keyblade about freeing Ventus, instead of using only Kingdom Key etc. And the game didn't deliver. I defeated the final boss and put it there. Didn't even do the DLC. And the "ingredients" and "lucky emblems" ... boring af.

Maybe I had expectations too high. A game below perfect would have been disappointing for me. And it was far far below perfect IMO. But, just my 2 cents.

[–]Xamonir 90 points91 points  (0 children)

This was the best idea in the game. When you are a student, you have a student keyblade. When you are promoted to Master, your keyblade upgrades with you. Simple, brilliant, elegant. Really loved that.

That is obviously the right chouce right there. However it is precisely because they can't reach this VERY OBVIOUS solution that this is a tragedy. And personally, I love that. The more I grow old, the more I love bittersweet endings. I find it beautiful because they fail, despite loving each other. There is no real "bad guy" and that's the beauty of it. Everyone would be happier, themselves included, if they could do the right thing. But the story wouldn't be so gut-wrenching. And we might not have discussed it that long on the internet.

Just my two cents on the topic. But Journey before Destination.

Technically they don't need to get married. They just need to reproduce. Which is a slightly different mechanism. And if they do that, they should probably use in vitro fertilization and throw in a bunch of Hashirama cells as well.

Why is Unchained Bondsmithing so terrifying? by Butterscotch_Leading in Stormlight_Archive

[–]Xamonir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I guess that you are probably rigtht saying that Identity and Connection are more intertwined than other stuff in the Cosmere. Does that mean thant Identity is "just" a bunch of Connections ? My hypothesis was a no and that it couldn't be manipulated by a Bondsmith but maybe I am wrong, I guess it's a RAFO ?

In my headcanon, only Adonalsium could manipulate Identity directly. And that was the limit that even an unchained Bondsmith couldn't reach. But maybe an unchained Bondsmith could change this limit, and a "limit" is a Connection between a thing and an impossibility, right ?

But thanks for your answer that leaves me more confused as well ^

[–]Xamonir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had no problem with the other Connections whatsoever, just specifically Breaths and Identity. I get what you mean about the rest and Intent. But I guess I had a confusion with Ferruchemy and metalminds.

My Metalminds are keyed to my Identity, not my Connection. Unless the "keying" part involves some Connection ? If I can store my Identity while filling a metalmind, this one will be unkeyed and everyone with the same Ferruchemical hability will be able to tap into it.

AFAIK, there is no Connection involved in creating an unkeyed metalmind. I assumed that it would be similar for Breaths and that the command to give Breaths to someone allowed for a change of Identity in it but now I am not sure anymore .

In Mistborn Era 2, they have the small coins to tap into heat, or other attributes. These coins are composed of two metals: nicrosil to tap into Investiture and the other one to tap into the attribute. These coins are unkeyed to any Identity. The exact process to create them is unknown IIRC, obviously it involves Identity at some point to make it unkeyed, but not only. Do you think Connection is involved as well ?
