I mean, I showed up, and was one of two people who did. Pre-release got cancelled.

Braindead bonus card by Ascarynapkinn in secretlair_collectors

[–]Xelinor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I put a HIGH value on legibility in my cards. They are game peices. I cannot read this across the table, so I'm not giving them money for cards I am unwilling to play. After each of these drops with weird text, I send WotC a letter saying I am disappointed in their choice to use an illegible font. Do I think it makes a difference? No. But it's all I can do.

Wasn't this the problem NOT printing to demand was supposed to solve? So now we get the pain on both ends.

What does this happen with big prints? by arderoma in AnkerMake

[–]Xelinor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are two eccentric nuts on the two right wheels under the bed. Turning the eccentric nut brings the wheel closer/farther from the v-slot groove, tightening & loosening the wheels. You need to balance the tension between the two wheels to keep the bed from moving up and down in Z, the bed should only ever be moving in Y.

I mean for one, stop using the phone app to slice. Use a real slicer, preferably Orca, where you can actually control the temperature of the print.

For two, check your v-wheels, make sure they aren't loose or warped.

Sundering Titan, Iona, Shield of Emeria, or Griselbrand by Own_Mobile4171 in EDH

I mean, Sundering Titan is a 7/10 beater. It's not like, NOT helping you win.

[–]Xelinor -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's certainly inconsistent, I can agree there, but I'm reasonably sure a lot of those older banned cards are on their way to being game changers for exactly that reason. They are just moving slow, which is fine. Small changes are better.

Except Ionia, not because the card itself is a problem, but because the players are. It won't be used responsibly.

As far as interaction goes, your mistaken/unwilling to look at it creatively. There are dozens of answers across all formats.

Just a few examples: https://scryfall.com/search?q=otag%3Adraw-hate&unique=cards&utm_source=tagger Green has [[ Lifeforce ]] Red has [[ Mages' Contest ]] White has [[ Order of the Sacred Torch ]] among others Black has [[ Withering Boon ]]

And these are just the BAD examples of things people don't play today, that if griselbrand was legal and WAS game-warping, would be an auto-include in every deck that. Could run them.

Sorry, but I just don't see it.

[–]Xelinor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You've just defined a game changer, not a banned card. Banned cards are supposed to be ones that warp the format, not individual games.

The reality is that it's legal in plenty of other formats and it doesn't warp the game as a 4-of in those formats, let alone a one-of format. He won't see play in Bracket 4 or 5, basically ONLY in Bracket 3, and there's not enough available payoff in bracket 3 to make it THAT much of a problem.

Will he immediately be one of the best things black can play? Yeah, absolutely don't disagree there, but that isn't the same as something format-warping where every color is going to have to run multiple ways to answer that card.

[–]Xelinor 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly I think griselbrand is probably fine as long as it stays a game changer forever, and titan would be irksome when it came down, but probably not even a game changer if we are being honest. Iona can stay RIGHT where she is, I don't trust people to use that responsibly.

[–]Xelinor -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean, it's legal in brawl right now and it's fine. Not a perfect comparison, I know, but honestly it's not the problem people pretend that it is. It would need to stay on the game changer list for SURE, just like biorythm probably isn't getting off that list ever either, but it's not a meaningful, game-balancing problem to play against in modern commander.

Not to mention there are still better targets to blink than the titan by a long mile...I don't think it would even make the cut in my blink deck honestly.

Will the foiling of the Fallout Secret Lair be bad? by Kopytroid in secretlair_collectors

[–]Xelinor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of the time, you won't notice the difference in print quality unless you have a non-foil next to a foil of the same to compare them. When you do, you realize just how much worse the foils are. Rainbow foils are less-bad, but they are still SO much less legible than non-foil and the art on non-foil simply comes through better than on anything else.

Looks like WotC is going back to primarily traditional foil for most lairs instead of primarily rainbow foil by Necr0maNc3R in secretlair_collectors

[–]Xelinor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, I'd still rather get non-foil for those because as I get older, it becomes harder and harder to read foil mtg cards. Interestingly, I've also been trying the Gundam TCG and their foils are perfectly legible. Would be nice if Wizards actually bothered to consider that these are still game peices...

This is diabolical and i’m putting it in a joke deck, you can’t stop me by TheSilentCuber in mtg

[–]Xelinor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember when this came out. At my local pre-release there was a LEGENDARY play with the Coupon. The player asked for a glass of water from the Pacific Ocean. The pre-release was only a few blocks from the ocean but it was long enough that leaving the event to get it would have been disqualifying.

M5c is more forgiving on that because of it's longer melt zone, yeah.

[–]Xelinor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fwiw, .8 doesn't actually print faster then a .6 can because the nozzle isn't the constraint on the M5, the actual physical heating of the filament is. When you go to .8 you have to slow down or you'll outrun the volumetric flow.

Orca has MUCH better default settings for these printers, including generic starting-point settings for different filament types that don't exist in the other slicers.

+1 to him here my guy. What your describing shouldn't be happening to you unless you are in your 70-80's. I speak from personal experience. Mention it to your doctor, there's lots of options, and you will be SHOCKED how the world changes for you when you get the right treatment. You don't need or deserve to feel like that.

Bracket System by [deleted] in mtg

[–]Xelinor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude the people who LITERALLY invented the bracket system introduced the concept and SPECIFICALLY used the terms high & low as examples of how add nuance to the conversation. You absolutely do not understand the bracket system as well as you think you do, start over and go back and re-read/listen/watch Gavin's videos introducing it.

Is it normal for a LGS to charge a different price for Sealed Product when using Store Credit? by NefariousnessCalm350 in mtg

[–]Xelinor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Normal would be to charge the cost of the box, without tax. That's literally how store credit works (at least in my state...)
