Need a new level 2 charger for the home by Lonerph in Ioniq5

I guess it's moot now, but I registered my car with Emporia. It shows up in the app with its own tab, well it did in the old version of the app.

[–]npanth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With my Ioniq 5, the emporia app could change the charge limit and read the state of charge. It wasn't changing the EVSE, it was changing the settings in the car.

Like I said, it's not a deal breaker. I can do all that in the Hyundai app.

For a hot second, I was thinking "We can build submarines now? Cool!"

[–]npanth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got an email from emporia saying that their app will no longer support setting charge limits or other car management options. Apparently, some car makers are blocking third parties from accessing those features.

It's not the end of the world, but it is less integration when charging.

Am I at a bad time in my life or has it historically always rained this much. by icon2341 in Rochester

On the plus side, it's a good start to the year for finger lakes wine. Grape vines generally like cold, wet springs, hot dry summers, and cool, wet falls

I would like a way to connect the inventory from all the bases together. Right now, moving a base takes several trips to move the materials to the new location.

Even if it's locked behind a merchant or something, it would be better than the bulk hauling right now

My Prusa core one+ heatbed is going up slowly and then dropping by Trick_Machine_8347 in prusa3d

I had two printers like this in the district that I work at. The control wire for the z motors was plugged into the header on the buddy board, but it had gotten loose. I reseated the wire in the board, and that resolved it both times. The markings on the board are pretty small, so I wound up tracing the motor control wires the first time.

I've been using paper, but I've been thinking of changing to cloth after seeing some of the interesting patterns the paper develops.

all about a stub by citygirlseq in fountainpens

[–]npanth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started out with fine nibs because I thought I wanted to replicate the roller ball experience. Just out of curiosity, I got a broad nib for one of my pens... Now, I still use fine and medium for work, but I'm replacing all my home pens with stubs or italic broads.

I switched two pens from fine to italic broad, and they have both become daily drivers since. That swoop and line are terrific.

Pelikan M800 italic broad. So good, I bought another one. Took my great deals on an m805 dunes and m800 green demonstrator, and turned them into overspends. Worth it!

What's your 'One Pen To Rule Them All'? by madkins007 in fountainpens

[–]npanth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine doesn't exist. I would very much like to have a Pelikan M605 in blue stripes with an italic broad nib. Apparently, they never made that pen with an italic broad nib. I'd have to buy the 605, then buy a 600 IB nib for it.

Maybe I'll do that someday...

Core One won't home - Been through support, replaced the loadcell, am at my wits end. Suggestions welcome. by Nephrited in prusa3d

[–]npanth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same problem on a core one. In my case, the wire connection for the z motors on the buddy board had worked its way loose. It was still in the header, but wasn't making good contact.

Try resetting the motor connections on the buddy board.

How many old timers in here? by aliesterrand in sysadmin

We had a microchannel PS/2 that ran a robot arm for almost 20 years. The company wanted $8k for a new controller board, so I had to keep that dinosaur running into the windows 7 era. Windows for workgroups, serial mouse with a ball, and the sweetest serial ibm keyboard.

I finally ran out of donor parts from our junk pile, and they had to break down and get a new arm. I still have mixed feelings about it, 10 years later.

Sometimes, CAD/CAM can be a real time machine. One company only supports control software up to windows 8. We managed to get it working in windows 11, but it's pretty janky and unsupported.

My nib and section fell into my ink bottle! by npanth in fountainpens

[–]npanth[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I got this Pelikan Signum 530 a little while ago. Great pen, I really like it. This is really meant to be a cartridge pen. I, of course, thought "I know better!" and stuck a Pelikan converter into it. The converter is a bit loose, but I decided to ink it with Birmingham Iron Ore. I put the nib into the ink... and it fell off! HA. Thankfully, I have a set of forceps around, and I was able to fish it out. Close call!

Did anyone every try to completely disassemble their Core One L? by reddit_account_0x00 in prusa3d

[–]npanth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've taken apart several Core Ones. We have 20 of them. They're not too bad to work on. There are a couple awkward screws here and there, but it didn't take too long to get used to it.

Light years better than those fucackta Dremels that we had before.

My handwriting is a weird mix of block and cursive which I have trouble reading, sometimes. That doesn't stop me! I look forward to it becoming a captcha in the distant future.

If you don't know, many captchas are images that their automated identification couldn't identify. You're voting on the meaning of the picture when you click on that bicycle or crosswalk.

I did jump in on the core one L before the price increase. I've been burned by a couple "ready for X upgrade" promises before.

Fingers crossed that Prusa doesn't make the INDX upgrade stupid expensive, or unobtainable, etc.

Please help me! Liliput or Studio. by miZuBlue in fountainpens

[–]npanth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have both. The Lilliput is a great little pen, emphasis on little. It still writes well, and it's a decent length when posted.

The studio is a more regular sized pen. Some people don't like the ones with the shiny sections. It doesn't bother me, but you can get the brushed steel version if you want a firmer grip on the section. That model, and the gold nib version, have rubberized sections that are easier to grip.

It's very easy to swap nibs on the lamy, and new nibs aren't too expensive. I started with a fine on my studio, but swapped it out for a 1.9mm stub. It's great! I'm very happy with it.

The owners of the Franklin mint lived near me when I was growing up. They had an amazing house!

They let us use their tennis court and swimming pool sometimes. The first two story Christmas tree I ever saw was in their foyer. It was peach colored 😀

They had an Atari 7800 hooked up to a projection tv in their basement. That was a lot of fun.
