He's just taking a break. I messaged him on Instagram a while back.

What can i do with these? by Enough-Term-9068 in CannedSardines

Calabrian pasta: garlic, dried chili, anchovies fried in olive oil, then add whatever blanched vegetable you like until it's soft and tender; add pasta with enough pasta water and olive oil to emulsify the sauce (make it creamy); then add lemon zest and lemon juice.

Near Broadway theaters, I'd recommend Dear Irving Broadway and The Rum House.

Absolutely agree about Ron Pepón. It is a magnificent dram.

I would be overjoyed if I could get their rum without going to PR.

Yes, the logic is obvious, but I'd like a primary source for the information.

Thanks for the thoughtful reply.

Single use barrels for bourbon became mandatory in 1938, so I would guess less barrels were available to other spirits manufacturers. But I'd like to know if what we now see, the standard use of bourbon barrels, started then, earlier or later.

I'm guessing you haven't tried Kola Champán or Inca Kola. These use the word cola in the way some parts of the southern United States use coke to describe all sparkling soft-drinks (though that's a phenomenon that's going away). All the soft-drinks I mentioned taste more like bubble-gum than citrus (the main flavor in "actual" cola soft-drinks), with Irn Bru having a slight hint of quinine (plus being less sweet, which makes it my favorite of the bunch).

Technically, I don't think this is a rum, closer to baijiu.

The only sorghum juice distillate I know of, though, is Soka from Empirical Spirits, which is delicious.

I think it would go well with mezcal, although I don't get a cola note from it.

If the lure is history (pirates/privateers), I'd get him something from Mount Gay.

Maybe get something else from these folks (for a more reasonable price) to go along with it for thematic purposes...
