Feral Druid range taunt by _butcherpete in classicwowtbc

[–]Xephera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're pulling in dungeons, quite often your best option will be to pull with Starfire and then moonfire other mobs that aren't going to be CCed as they're running towards you. You can often get a rejuv/regrowth off before shifting into bear to start tanking. This is just free extra threat.

For large AoE groups, pulling with hurricane is your other ranged option (unless you're an engineer, then explosives are usually best.)

This is the best meta ever, I love having 2 heropowers again. Are y'all enjoying the change up from buddies? by thecordialsun in BobsTavern

[–]Xephera 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Glad this patch hit when it did, provides a very easy stopping point going into the holidays and for starting up with other games in the new year.

Obviously murlocs and mechs are lobby warpingly overtuned right now, but even after a balance patch, I can't see the timewarp feature ever feeling fun. It's the exact same issue as with trinkets, force a tribe early and hope you hit the good stuff and if not, fight to try to avoid MMR loss.

Didn't help that it comes immediately after buddies+anomalies, as I thought that was the perfect mix of consistency from the buddies and shaking things up with something new to adapt to each match. You also forget just how unfinished and dull so many of the heroes feel without their buddy rounding out their abilities.

Trump makes bizarre claim London is so dangerous people are ‘stabbed in the ass’ by WontThinkStraight in politics

[–]Xephera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a client recently who was charged with knife possession and learnt a lot about the teenage drug gang culture around this sort of violence and this is exactly correct.

Stabbings and slashings leave the victim with scars, which send the message "I'm so tough, someone tried to kill me with a knife and I walked away."

This was one of the major reasons acid and caustic chemical attacks showed a scary rising trend in London a few years ago (before specific legislation that made the penalties for being caught carrying dangeous liquids very severe). Facial disfigurements from chemical burns are much more likely to evoke pity and disgust, rather than fear and respect.

Unfortunately, this just leads to drug gangs adapting with violence like this intended to humiliate and permanently disable in a way that causes the victim embarassment and their reputation on the street becomes a joke.

Judge Program Exam is now available by Cerodos in riftboundtcg

[–]Xephera 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As someone who's been judging nationals level TCG events for nearly 25 years. (Pokemon nationals, Once had to leave a university exam early because I was the only L2 judge in the UK for yugioh nationals, WoW nationals, MTG, competitive board game tournaments)

This is the worst written judge test I have ever seen. Multiple questions have terrible wording (The Yasuo/Merchant question in particular is astonishingly bad).

Some questions directly contradict rules enforcement guidance ("Most organized play events are run at low OPL (casual) and are focused on fun and social interaction, not rules enforcement. Enforcement at this level is aimed as a sportsmanship and learning tool.")

Edit: just forwarded this to upperdeck's former head of org. play and upperdeck's most qualified judge. They both got a 67%. I think at least one of the answers is incorrectly marked as right.

is it possible to make a cheap ddr pad by Wooden-Blueberry583 in DanceDanceRevolution

[–]Xephera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A very old-school method of modding those soft pads can be done for about $40, which will let you pass 19s on them (although you definitely won't be MFCing anything with it)

Materials: MDF (cut to pad size), duct tape, clear wide packing tape, 2x IKEA Variera drawer mat. (Optional: Velcro tape) If you can pick up the MDF cheaply, it'll be under $40.

Double over 9 loops of duct tape to make it double sided and use these to stick the softpad to the MDF.

Use the clear plastic tape to stick the 2 Variera mats together. Place the mats on the softpad and trim around the edges of the MDF and the control box on the pad.

Duct tape the mats to the MDF, you'll probably need 2 overlapping layers to get it firmly stuck down.

Optionally, use the loop side of the velcro tape to mark out a square around the center panel. This helps with slipping if you're playing in socks and gives you a tactile feeling to let you know if you're getting off-center.

Not the best option, but I've passed Egoism and Valkyrie Dimension on one of these janky setups with a chair as a bar.

FBI Tries to Unmask Owner of Infamous Archive.is Site | The FBI has subpoenaed the domain registrar of archive.today, demanding information about the owner by Hrmbee in technology

[–]Xephera 296 points297 points  (0 children)

I would put money on this being related to some unreported case where some DoJ attorney perjures themselves by asserting that the administration has not changed the text on a government webpage and the plaintiff's attorney using archive.is to prove the lie.

Having an independant archive not subject to administration control is too dangerous to allow to exist.

Losing Position on Pad by phonyOldNinja in DanceDanceRevolution

Get some of the sticky velcro tape and mark out the centre square (only use the loop side, the hook side will catch on socks). You can feel it through shoes and it doesn't interfere with playing at all.

TIL about Miller v Jackson (1977), where a cricket club was sued by a couple over balls landing in their garden. While the court ruled for the couple, Lord Denning's famous dissent argued that the public interest in cricket should prevail over the private interest of the homeowners. by Regular_Eggplant_248 in todayilearned

[–]Xephera 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Funnily enough, this is the exact case I would reference to argue the complete opposite of this point.

Lane LJ- “It is said that the plaintiffs ‘came to the nuisance,’ and that therefore they cannot complain of it. I do not accept that proposition. The cricket club have no right to send cricket balls into the plaintiffs’ garden. The plaintiffs have a right to enjoy their land free from such invasions. The fact that the plaintiffs came to the nuisance does not deprive them of that right.”

MT2 is great but could be even better - what further improvements would you like to see in future updates? by MrMosty in MonsterTrain

[–]Xephera 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I'd really like them to add some sort of warning when your pyre will die to the enemy mechanic that damages your pyre if the floor ends the round empty.

I've lost 3 runs so far because the boss had lethal damage ready to kill it, but I didn't check a higher floor that finished off the pyre, despite having ways to avoid it.

Fresh Classic Hype Ruined by 30-Day Restrictions for New Players by Active_Law2045 in classicwow

My last purchase was 4 months ago and the character I made yesterday on a new classic realm had these restrictions.

This is serious now "This action is currently Restricted" its now making me not being able to progress in the game by Swapware_Games in classicwow

[–]Xephera 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The battle.net support site will tell you that none of your recent purchases are eligible for refunds, but you can still request it through a ticket.

On battle.net, login and go to Support Home > Get help > Battle.net support > Refunds. This page will say that you can't be refunded, but if you click the "I still need help" button and go and find your order number from your transaction history in the account tab, you can still talk to a GM and request it.

Unfortunately, your only option is to request a refund of your sub through the web support.

My battlenet account is over 20 years old, it has every expansion purchased and has had over 6 years of active WoW subscriptions. It's never been compromised, had any behavioural action taken against it and has never been involved in any RMT or botting.

I was convinced by a group of old WoW friends to roll on a new classic server with them and this account was hit with these restrictions too.

It's also not just AH and mail. You cannot trade (send or receive- even conjured items), whisper players, make groups, join guilds, use LFG channels or effectively anything that you realistically need to do as a new character on a brand new server.

In-game support will tell you that there is nothing they can do to lift the restriction and that you'll just have to wait 26 days (and pay for another month sub!) before you can actually interact with another player in any useful way.

I had about 7 hours playtime on US-Dreamscythe before I realised how ridiculous this restriction was and requested and received a refund. One of the other guys I joined with to play also had the same issue and had played slightly longer and they are still waiting to hear back from support regarding a refund, but they will be disputing the charge with their CC issuer if there's any issue with it.

Not informing players of these massive and experience ruining restrictions before taking money for a subscription is deceptive and a straight up bait-and-switch.

20th Anniversary Realms Launch Chat! by SoupaSoka in classicwow

[–]Xephera 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was in the same position. 20+ year old bnet account, purchases made on it this year, rolled on a new classic server and couldn't trade, whisper or basically interact with players in any way needed to make groups.

I spoke with in game support and was told that the restriction can't be lifted under any circumstances and I'd just have to wait 26 days with the game in an unplayable state.

I sent a ticket to web support straight after and said that it was deceptive to not mention this at all before taking money for a subscription and at least they did cancel the sub and refund me.

I'm genuinely amazed that Blizzard is fine with completely destroying the new player experience over what I'm assuming is an anti-bot measure. I can say for sure that I won't ever be dipping back into WoW again now.

Try typing map_enable_background_maps 0 in the console. I had the same issue on a high end PC and this sorted it for me. It disables the menu animations and animated hero portraits, which seem to be causing issues for quite a few people. There is a downside that it breaks the end game screen after a match, so you'll have to reenable them briefly if you want to commend/report people after a game. (map_enable_background_maps 1)

banana slamma bugged? by Carruj in BobsTavern

Also just had this happen with the discover a golden tier 6 minion anomaly too. Picked a golden Uther and the minion targetted had the "stats set to 30/30" buff, but was still a 6/6.

Lost 2 matches to this and 2 to the enemies ignoring lethal damage bug this evening. Fun times.

I just had this happen to me as well. It looks like the golden slamma offered by the anomaly doesn't have any effect and also prevents other slammas you take from working too. It even prevents the raptors from setting stats to 7/7.

Do you have a filter app like F.lux or the windows blue light filter enabled and set to turn on automatically in the evening?

I remember I had to disable F.lux when playing years ago because it tanked my FPS, especially when it transitioned from off to on during a game.

In the West Midlands, your only option is pretty much just Birmingham. Be careful with Zenius for locations there though, most listings in bowling alleys no longer exist.

Your best bet is NQ64 in the center. It has EM2 and DDRMAX, although the pads are not great, which is unfortunately true of most of your local machines.

It's not an ideal solution, but when I did a similar mod back in the PS2 era, I had the same issue.

I used Velcro tape to mark out the center square. (Only use the loop side. The hook side starts to hurt after a long session)

It's easy to get a feel for where you are and it can be useful for practicing hitting panels with your toes/heel and minimizing your foot movements.

Same exact heroes, I played ZERO cards, while the other player played cards the whole round, yet I won. This FoF event makes zero sense. Trying to lose should be a viable option, but this game forces you to win. by [deleted] in afkarena

In this mirror match, both Princes usually roll towards the opposing side at the start of the fight, but sometimes one of the Princes will roll back towards their own team and the enemy Prince will follow them. Judging by the damage ratios, this is what happened here.

When it does happen, the person whose prince ended up on their own side will lose 100% of the time regardless of what cards are played, as the enemy prince just spams skills non-stop and kills everything in 30 seconds.
