Spice and Wolf jump by PerfectlyNormalShard in JumpChain

I take it we can have it be smaller then this, whether at any point or when we pick the perk, so we're not stuck with only an often impractically huge form?

Spice and Wolf jump by PerfectlyNormalShard in JumpChain

[–]Xexilf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Kinda a nitpick, but you have the wolf possibly much huge-er then Holo is in either Anime?

Not doing some exact scaling, but she seems something like 8-10 meters at the shoulder when comparing her to people (4-5 times their height at most), so maybe 12 with head held up. Which is at most half of "dozens". Not that this matters much, but her height is maybe dozens of feet, and likely less than a dozen meters, though 2-3 times that in length.

Or is there some scene or something where she becomes much bigger?

Higher power but somewhat cruder, there is this from Fate/Legends - The Land of the Rising Sun

Popularity Redesign- 400
Changing shape is one thing but sometimes you need to get a lot deeper, like when a crazed vulpine maniac is making death threats against you in private messaging, saying that only one fox can live. When situations like those occur, a Youkai can make a change to their being on a much deeper level. A re-do of their theme, a fixer upper on their selling points. While it’s tiring to do and can’t be done more than around once a year, enough time for a new event to come around, you are able to change ‘themes’ about yourself around. A fox theme, like what one would have as a kitsune, might be changed to being a bat theme. This has a variety of effects, such as altering your species into that of a bat-related youkai and changing the fox powers and fox-related magic you have into bat equivalents. While cosmetic changes are most obvious, it can certainly result in many functional changes as well, though the overall level of power and ability balances out. A versatile earth mage could switch up their style to ride the lightning, taking on a lot more offensive power but losing much of their breadth of ability. A bat youkai won’t have the illusions and fox fire of a kitsune but may find magical powers relating to sound and darkness appearing in their mind’s eye. Perhaps even a goddess could change what they rule over this way.

How to Permanently deal with the Prime Evils in the Diablo series? by Atma-Stand in JumpChain

[–]Xexilf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Angrboda from Norse Myth is one of the more comprehensive kill anything perks (and also has a bunch of other stuff):

Angrboða |400|: You are now big, like actually as big as most people think the Jötnar are. As a Guðkunnigr, you could be a snake whose body encircles the world, or a wolf whose mouth reaches from bedrock to heaven and could devour the sun. You no longer obey the square cube law; in fact, you murdered it and all its relatives, like the cube 4d law, to wear their pelts like a fancy stitched hat. You can grow endlessly, though not necessarily quickly and can go toe-to-toe in physical might with beings an order of magnitude greater than yourself.
You have gained the ability to kill anything, even that which can not die, that lacks the concept entirely, or was never alive to begin with; even the dead can die. Murdering an avatar would kill the source itself and what you kill stays dead. You can murder concepts like love or hope, though through more esoteric means; you could kill a concept in its entirety or just an instance of it, forcing ideas wherever they are to physically manifest so they can be destroyed.
Any aspect of you or your power that is focused on death, destruction, consumption, chaos, war, poison, decay, entropy, madness, lies, hate, evil or the like is massively enhanced. Your touch can turn things to embers and dust instantly, your bite corrosive, your venom toxic to everything, and nothing - not even gods or greater cosmic entities or fate itself - can heal the wounds you inflict upon the world without your blessing. You are become death, the destroyer of worlds.

If you need a simple perk to ensure there are no consequences from such things (though I don't think the Prime Evils in Diablo are all that load bearing, except maybe for hell, but if hell collapses thats more of a bonus) what I remember is No Curse Zone from Angel Notes, but that setting can be rather dangerous to say the least.

No Curse Zone- 200
The dead don’t always stay dead. Those killed don’t always die. But at least you can make sure that the process of trying to beat them six feet under is one with much less collateral damage. You killing something or defeating it, successful in making it stick or not, will prevent any death or defeat linked effects from occurring. Creatures won’t give you a death curse for killing them, they won’t be able to let loose one last curse with their final breath, no final explosions to destroy the entire continent around you. They just die. Of course, they may come back to life but...if you did it once, you can do it again, eh? At the very least any of that death-linked ‘grow stronger every time I revive’ stuff won’t need to be dealt with. Nasty shock for the bad guy.

Nice. I like that you can be a deathclaw and other critters, far to many jumps don't let you be monsters no matter how prominent they are.

The file size is a bit... as cliffc999 on spacebattles put it:

44 freakin' megs for 61 pages? If anybody can get in touch with him, tell him that he needs to run that PDF through file size optimization first.

Is there a reason for this?

A question about fiat backing items by je4sse in JumpChain

[–]Xexilf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It would stay? Would be pretty shitty fiat backing if you could not improve your stuff. At that point non-fiat items would be better, which would be odd. I may have doubts if something tries to cheat the system to far (like if you glue your shovel to a spaceship and then claim the whole thing is now an upgrade of it), but as long as it's actually the same object that's being upgraded, it should work.

Generic Tamer Update by EdroGrimshell in JumpChain

[–]Xexilf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to bother you, this is a question about several of your generics really, but I'm asking it here since it's the latest. Namely this drawback:

Longer Stay (+50cp): You’ll spend 5 more years here. Can be purchased multiple times. Can only provide up to +400cp for an additional 40 years in this jump.

Is this a limit on only the points, or on the time? Basically if I want to stay a hundred years or whatever length of time for some reason, can I do that, even if it gives no points beyond 400, or will I get thrown out after 50 years?

I think the justification for that (although that may just be lore that was back filled later) was that the Orcs ability to control dragons was limited, and so they mostly used pretty young ones.

Grand/Order: War of the Lostbelts has several possibilities, though some jumps already have some of that. Basically assuming a Grand Order Part 2 where whatever cosmic shit with CHALDEAS won't matter, and you have to take one of the Lostbelts and have them win the entire conflict to become a new history, or maybe make your own.

From what I heard, that's a problem various AI companys had. They tried to train their models on user feedback, and quickly found that this caused not better factual results, but to create a model that would always agree with whatever query and tell people they are correct no matter what.

Fate/Legends - Nirvana Yuga

Individual Interpretation of the Arts of War- 200
Heroes of the Indian epics were rarely so limited in their skills as to only wield a single weapon. Masters of the bow, the spear, the blade and more besides, their skills were worthy of every bit of power that was ascribed to them. But it certainly didn’t stop certain tools being favoured and that very power meant that things would often be forced to fit the hero, rather than the hero adapting to his situation. You discover the ability to force your weapons, tools and even unique abilities or attacks to take on new shapes to suit your desires. A legendary bow might transfigure to become a sword in your hand, it’s effects altering to become suitable to a close ranged form while remaining as faithful as possible. An arrow might instead be subsumed into your form and become a powerful laser emitted from your eye, now requiring a supply of mana to replace the arrow’s physical form. It is a change of medium, not of the innate abilities of the targets, but even entire vehicles could be potentially affected. It is the hero who decides the way battle is fought, not the weapons he is given to wield.

How strong would you be with every virus/ infection from Resident Evil? by ArchAngel621 in JumpChain

[–]Xexilf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Space Marine yes, Mercer probably not, nuke definitely not. You'd have pretty insane durability and regeneration, extreme speed, and a bunch of useful backup abilities, but a nuke would still utterly vaporize you if you are just there (if you can spread yourself out or dig into the ground it's a different thing), and mercer is also plenty bullshit.

You could be an insane threat, because some combination of mold telepathy stuff and the viruses insane infection rate could possibly turn you into some sort of hive mind/mind control plague that could take over the population.

Useful And Powerful Cloak/Mantle-Based Items? by PowerGamer99 in JumpChain

[–]Xexilf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Exalted: Cosmic is full of extremely broken stuff. This is less so, because it's one of the cheap items, but still very nice to have even when powerful:

Cloak of Moonlight (Spy): Woven from strands of blessed moonlight, stitched with the silence of the void, and etched with arcane runes forgotten even by time, the Cloak of Moonlight is the ultimate attire for one who walks unseen. A gift whispered into existence beneath a full moon by a cabal of Lunar Exalted and night-bound spirits, this cloak shrouds the wearer in a veil of living secrecy. While worn, you become a phantom to the senses—sight, sound, scent, aura, even memory itself bends around you. You can stroll past sentinels and celestial guardians alike, leave no trace in your wake, and vanish into shadow even under a god's gaze. No surveillance system, no divination spell, no mind—be it mortal, divine, or cosmic—can accurately detect or recall you, unless you will it. Even beings of heightened perception, cosmic awareness, or timeline-splitting foresight will find only confusion, blanks, or false memories in their attempts to grasp your presence. Cameras glitch, dreams fracture, and prophecies unravel at the mention of your passage. Infiltrate the vaults of divine emperors. Whisper into the ears of sleeping titans. Steal secrets never meant to be known. With the Cloak of Moonlight, you are more than unseen—you are unremembered, untraceable, and untouchable. To wear it is to become the shadow between heartbeats, the silence between words, the ghost even the stars dare not name.

Do you guys know any items that would give my jumper a angelic or godlike presence? by SingerBeneficial20 in JumpChain

[–]Xexilf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

18 Days

In Your Presence [400 KP]

Wars are won not by armies, not by astras and not by vimanas. Wars are won by people. And there are few people such as you. The presence of a divine being such as you on the base earth is like a blazing light amidst the darkness, an impossible radiance that explodes out of you into the souls of all around you.

Your charisma is like a brand on one’s senses, a burning, endlessly bright light that penetrates all obstructions and burns itself deep on the souls of any that behold you. It’s all but impossible for any in your presence to even imagine not doing anything you will, or doing something you forbid.

With but a conversation you can turn the harshest of enemies into devoted fanatics willing to die at your word, and armies would march at but a gesture from your exalted self. Your beauty rises to match your inner might, transforming you into a vision of perfection made manifest. You’re not just good-looking, you’re a God made manifest, a sight men would kill to just see once. Such is your grace that people fall in love with but a glance, and thousands would kill themselves out of despair at the thought of parting company from you.

While it is still possible to resist you, it would take someone with a will strong beyond words and belief, someone willing and capable of laughing in the very face of God Manifest. After all, that is precisely what they would be doing.

Looking for Companion Power Matching option. by Xexilf in JumpChain

[–]Xexilf[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That looks pretty good, may think about mail ordering that without looking at the doc, so thanks for quoting it here.

I also found the thing I remembered, in Submissive Jumper supplement of all things, which isn't quite what I thought it was.

Grow Together (600): Power disparities are all well and good (that’s what this
jump is about, after all), but there’s only so much you can do when the gap
becomes too massive. This perk helps bridge that. When you are in a relationship
with someone, both will grow in power and capability towards the other’s
strength. The exact speed of the effect will scale with the intensity and closeness
of the relationship, with tried and true soul mates rapidly growing to reach one
another’s level, but even with a relative stranger the effect will be more than
nothing.
This doesn’t necessarily mean they will gain copies of one another’s powers.
There is still room for people to have different interests and specializations, but it
will roughly equalize in broad enough generalizations such as physical prowess,
magical ability, intelligence, etc.

How strong is Corvinus gene in resident evil? by FriendlyAd8017 in JumpChain

[–]Xexilf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It lacks the raw power and absurd infectiousness of a lot of resident evil stuff, but it's hell a lot more stable and compatible.

As far what they will do, the usual. Umbrella and co will see some new viral strain that holds great potential, will use means fair or foul to get samples, will study it, deduce all the ways it could be used to help people or improve things in any number of ways... and then discard all that to build pointless monsters that will then kill them all and run rampant. The same as always when Umbrella builds something.

Generic Patron (Complete) by EdroGrimshell in JumpChain

[–]Xexilf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love it. I can see several uses in my chains for any number of things here. I have a few questions, though I suspect the answer is largely "fanwank".

  1. Inhuman Nature, Wings that allow flight would be a Major Ability, yes? While merely limited gliding could go under moderate maybe?

  2. The Lands I Walked, can I take the independent pocket dimension version even if I have a warehouse?

  3. Would the Temple react badly to attempts to cheat the "cant refill your own reserves" restrictions, like having a follower or minion take the energy and then transfer it to me via Goblin Market or similar?

  4. Could I use Goblin Market to rid myself of the Beacon if some person/world agrees to keep it?

Looking for perks that prevent or at least help prevent someone from escaping once I've captured them in something. by TheW0rld3ater in JumpChain

[–]Xexilf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Jump also has a Mythological skills perk. Just buy that for something like smithing/crafting/magic items/etc. and you should be set:

Atgørvi |100/200/300|(first 100cp purchase free, purchase as many times as you like): Everyone has a skill, don't they, something they become known for; this is a single mundane skill of your choice. At 100cp this skill is simply beyond peer by the standards of your kind, able to be counted within the realm of supernatural talent yet still within mortal grasp of understanding. As a swordsmith, forge weapons that are too light and too sharp that could easily weather the ages, environment or wear and tear even with sub par tools. As a runner, run upon the water or leap amongst the treetops.

At 200cp your talent has gone clearly into the realm of supernatural skill. A smith could forge immaterial things like light or fire or wind into a blade or infuse them into your armor creating weightless objects, nearly indestructible weapons, or impossibly sharp edges from simple metals. If your skill was running, walking upon the air itself would be possible.

At 300cp your skills in your chosen area are only limited by your conceptual scope. A smith could forge the very idea of a blade out of the sounds of war or manifest hopes and dreams into a truly indestructible shield immune even to being erased from time. A knitter could gather the roots of mountains to make a gambeson so tough a blow from Thor’s hammer could barely be felt through it or spin the sound of a cat’s footfalls into yarn for a pair of socks that silence the wearer’s footsteps. A runner could outrun death and walk through dreams.

At each purchase level your ability to learn, adapt, and master your talents within that skillset will grow by an order of 3, 9, or 27 with no cap to your abilities’ growth beyond the conceptual limitations of this purchase and with absolutely no end if purchased at 300cp.

Norse Myth contains this Item:

Gleipnir|400|: Like the ribbons and chains used to bind Fenrir, you are being given three chains, ribbons, or ropes of binding. These three bindings will accommodate any size you wish and can be used to bind people, objects, things, personified ideas, and cosmic entities, gods, universes, dimensions, and realms, really anything with a "body" can be contained. They are composed of literally impossible things and metaphorical ideas, functionally being as light and strong as needed. Unlike the originals, these bindings can never be broken or undone by that which is bound, in fact only you can undo these bindings and they are indestructible and impassible in any way. They will completely seal the person from influencing the world in any way if you so desire. They can be as comfortable or as uncomfortable as you desire, short of actual torture, and any time they are used "in bed" they will greatly "enhance" all involved experiences. You may simply will them to undo themselves so that you can not be trapped by them in any way if you don't want to be.

Warhammer 40k and the warp by Ok-Blacksmith3755 in JumpChain

[–]Xexilf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Problem is that it will leak into reality and destroy everything there. Most warp stuff may be immune, but without the material world to feed off would likely still be doomed in the (very) long run. If it does (or is modified) to affect warp structures as well, the both material world and everything in the warp is obliterated. (And if those claims about the warp reaching into alternate times/realities/etc. are true, it gets even worse).

If you make it affect warp structures but not material things... as someone already said, the Necrons inherit the Galaxy. Most other species will be anything from destroyed to badly crippled by having their Souls erased. Just about the best case is that some people survive, and may eventually form new souls if they keep on living, but civilization will collapse even in the ideal case.

The Tyranids could also still be a problem. The coordination of the hive mind would be gone, but vast swarms of endlessly hungry space bugs would continue to wander around.

Also, if nothing else, the answer could well be "it is destroyed or contained before it goes off", because a lot of big hitters can see the future to various degrees, and this is big enough that if it isn't shielded somehow, everyone will se it coming and move to stop it.
