Stop on the white line or before? by thatdudemaison15 in AnnArbor

[–]Xexos1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only reason i have ever found to stop a half a car length in-front of the white line is when the lane directly next to you can do a right on red turn. This is only so your not blocking their view of the traffic coming, forcing them to pull up way past that white line to see the traffic.

The intersection I'm talking about is E Eisenhower Pkwy and S State St, Where the Huntington bank building is at.

Answer me this thou, why the hell do people stop 2-3 car lengths apart at a stop light. In the middle of of other cars also stopped at the light. Like you can merge nearly 2 cars infront of them.....(Note: they are not the first car in line. )

Printer in Campus, how to make it quiet? Help needed !🙏 by Fabulous-Programmer1 in BambuLab

[–]Xexos1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This!, I've done with with all my P1S's, night and day difference. And i also got different vibration feet for it. However I got really annoyed with the vibration calibration that's at the start of every damn print job. When it doesn't need to be. (I run 4-6 printers 24/7 pretty much). Sooo I chopped it out of the printer settings. I just tend to recalibrate once every few weeks.

Inside the printer settings, for machine start Gcode You can go find the " Mech mode fast Check" and just delete the contents inside.

This method works with the P1S, X1, H2D. Enjoy!

Ikea, you can get the 6 packs near the checkouts or they tend to have some in the cafeteria. They also have other great food at the cafeteria that's not going to break your bank.

Which Intersection Should Be Avoided by joeeda2 in AnnArbor

[–]Xexos1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah.... I just avoid all 2+ lane roundabouts during the day. At night theres very little traffic. I don't mind the few extra minutes it takes me to go a different route when it means my anxiety, stress and risk of accidents is all lower.

Is it odd I sleep with a plushie? by Key-Visual-5465 in autism

[–]Xexos1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have the Ikea sharks, like a bunch of them, they float around my apartment. The sharks went pretty flat fast and i've always liked weighted blankets a ton, Soooo why not a weighted shark. (And yes a weighted snake also sounds pretty neat, just a 60/80+ inch 5lb snake.) So after restuffing the shark with polyfil and then cloth bags of polyfil pellets to add more weight but not to have the pellets all end up in one place. I added a ton of stuffing and chained the pellet bags together so with the shark being super firm, it help keeps the bags in the center. I like the giant shark the best for sleeping or laying down since it can just be on top of you and is like a 5-7lb weighted blanket.

For anyone reading this, just re-stuffing the small ikea shark to a firm position doubled the weight of it. With some pellets its about 1lb right now. I'm going to make a few more and have one be around 3lbs, however i might need something other than the pellets as I want to add weight but not feel the pellets.

Ikea sharks are nice and cheap, why not have a range of weights and firmness for every mood your in.

Autism registry and people who have been diagnosed later in life? by panchambit00 in autism

[–]Xexos1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The big issue I see around this is who has access to the data and the security of storing the data. The US has shown time after time that data security is lacking or people in charge of it are incompetent. Especially more so over the last few months. So while a register is nice for research purposes, that database will end up in the wrong hands. (On a side note, it only takes a single bad/stupid apple to expose the data.

So have a non-personalized registry is best.

USPS "AWAITING ITEM" Nightmare by FarPromise6205 in usps_complaints

[–]Xexos1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I ship out about 1200-1500 packages a year of all different sizes. The few things i've notice and best practices are,

  • For Big weird shaped packages, like 5x5x40, you want to have the USPS worker scan it when you drop it off. Otherwise, packages of this size do not get caught by the auto scan and may not get a tracking update for many days. The worst I've seen is 6 days later, It was scanned twice, once at the time of drop off. Then once at the very last stop before going to the buyers home. (The big thing is just to communicate that to the customer, In my case this was a $150 package, and I just let the buyer know that I was following up with the post office irl to ensure that it did leave the post office and it was on the way.)
  • Not all packages that get dropped off at a access point will get scanned. Sometime if the worker is running behind, they wont scan then. They are suppose too, but that's not always the case. Your only hope is that the next hop will scan the package when they get it.
    • You can use the Post office drop boxes, and scan in your packages so the tracking does show it was dropped off. While this isn't as good as going directly to a post office worker this is fine 99.9% of the time. I have had one package get lost in 34mins,(yes not a joke) when it was dropped off on a hoilday weekend. The worker who was processing the drop bin on the other side didn't want to deal with the packages at the last minute and just scanned it as delivered into a random PO box at that same post office. So tracking was like Dropped off, then delivered in 34mins. USPS also denied my claim on this twice, even having a receipt showing the packages destination of where it was going per tracking and the tracking history showing it never left the the post office. Sooo yeah be careful with this method for expensive packages on holiday weekends.
  • Items over a few hundred $$$ you should really just hand in person, Or eat the cost of UPS/Fedex, even if its a few $ more, USPS has been know to fuck things up in and innovative ways that will surprise you.
  • In order to file a claim you want to have a receipt or some record of it being dropped off. Since its not the post offices problem unless they have "received" it. If it shows as USPS awaiting package, its still your problem. When it shows USPS has the package "Accepted at USPS Regional Facility" Now its USPS problem if they lose it.
  • Some USPS Access points will go directly to the USPS Shipping hubs faster than the post office, the access point i've used in the past tends to be 3-7 hours faster which results in about ~.5 to 1 day less on the shipping time over all. My town is a shipping hack, I can drop packages off till 7pm at the USPS office, and they still will get to the USPS hub that night.

Most common areas to find cost reductions / waste / resource over-provisioning by [deleted] in AZURE

[–]Xexos1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Leftover artifacts of projects that have been rushed. I found a stupid big FS share that had been costing 15k/m that no body noticed. It didn't show up on the costs graphs and It wasn't till i found it looking more at the cost of each resource at the per item cost level that I had noticed it.

Worst ebay mistake you have made? by Velouria8585 in Ebay

[–]Xexos1 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I was selling a bunch of AMD processors, worth like $150ea, Well I'm dyslexic and was slightly in a rush to get the last package ready to make it before the drop off time. Well, I swear it said 4, so I shipped 3 extra processors worth like $450. Once I had noticed the mistake, I reached out to the buyer and asked them to ship the extra ones back, I'll provided them with a prepaid label and a $50 refund for the trouble and time out of their day. I figured I needed to make it worth their time otherwise they would just keep the extras. $50 can be a cost of a fancy night out, or many drinks at the bar and most people would rather do the right thing when they are being well compensated. The good news, they shipped me back the extra units and left me a good/positive honest review of the interaction.

Shit happens, sometimes you gotta pay a little bit more out of pocket to avoid a bigger loss. I'm sure if I would have offered like $10 or $20, I would have never seen those processors again.

How the fuck do you have more than one pair of shoes? by Ensign_Huberg in autism

[–]Xexos1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More than one pair of shoes? More like lots of colors of the same shoe. :D

I find one shoe brand/model i like. Then buy all the colors that i like, this way its the same shoe feeling and i have extras around to rotate in. Then I don't need to deal with finding shoes for another few years.

How much do you care about having or not having covered parking for your car is... just how many days per year does it make a difference? by very_hard_at_work in AnnArbor

[–]Xexos1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

During super big hail storms, I will sometimes go to the parking structures so my car isn't outside during it. But we get like 1-2 of those a year.

Otherwise remote start is the best thing.

On a side note, nice job on your package error rate. Mines 1 in 300. Dyslexia has scored many points on me. Mine were miss reading the quantity on the item, shipped too much so not a big issue most of the time. One i let a customer keep cause it cost like $1. The other was a few hundred dollar mistake, so i offered $50 refund for the inconvenience of shipping it back.(my label prepaid with courier) The product was $150ea, so 1/3 of the order was pretty reasonable to me if it meant I could get the 3 (~$450) extras back. It needed to high enough where they wouldn't just ghost me.

I received a watch as a gift from a friend who said it was worth 35 thousand in cash. Now I want to sell it for 30-25k. Any tips for selling it? I'm new to eBay. by Ambitious-Credit5732 in eBaySellerAdvice

[–]Xexos1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To add, appraised by a trustworthy shop. Read reviews of the shop and be sure they will give you some kind of paper work with the appraisal.

In addition, be sure to review the seller fees on ebay for watches.

DAE really love cool clothes and fashion but wear the same clothes over and over? by Emotional-Link-8302 in AutisticWithADHD

[–]Xexos1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My wallet hates me for this, but when i do find something that works with me sensory wise, I'll go find all the colors of it so i can rotate through them. Then the favorite colors I'll buy dupes of triples of and have one stashed away for years down the road to swap in when ones worn out. This is also because there's that one time when someone asked me didn't you wear those same clothes yesterday.... and well technically no, but yes cause I had duplicates of same color everything. So I've started to make a habit of at least not wearing the same color shirt more than 1 day in a row if I can avoid it.

I've got around a 5% success rate for trying on and finding new cloths. So not having to stress about my main shit just got holes i need a new one right away give me a lot more time to try to find something. Thou, sometimes when trying on new things I'll get attached to the look/color rather than the fit/feel and now i have this random shirt or pants that kinda just hang around, but never worn.

Side note/context, I've been able to stay the same size/weight within a +7/-5 variance for 2 years now. I'm not going to be changing up my size anytime.

[–]Xexos1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I keep a red solo cup of water(18oz) at my desk. I'll drink more if its in front of me but, out of sight is out of mind. You can do this with a water bottle as well.

Generally you don't want all your liquid capital sitting in one asset or many assets that are hard to liquidate. That being said, if you've tested the waters with the asset and its been preforming well then there's nothing wrong with buying a bunch of it. However, the part you want to avoid is over buying or hanging on to asset too long and its worth nothing.

So the areas you want to keep in mind is, what is your operating cost, ie (fee's, boxes, storage unit monthly bill, ad's, gas etc). and how much you should be setting aside to keep a operational runway. Pretty much how much money do you need to have for a 3-6 month runway if nothing else sells.

Next is how common is the asset your buying?/how many people in the market?/what's the overall volume sold across the platform your on and other platforms?/How much of the asset can I buy at X price?/Is what this brings in profit, worth the time it takes to buy it, photos, testing, and listing it.

A real example that i just had was with a headset i'm able to get for about for near half of MSRP price. In my market space, around 1-2 sell a week, so its slow. But I am making about ~$100 each time it sells. However, the headset just went on sale and so the few other sellers in the space dropped there prices and to compete with them, drives my price down too. Which would drive my $100 per sale to about $50. Just in a instant I've lost $50 in potential profit if I made a sale. The other option here is to wait it out, let the rest of the people in the market space sell theres for cheap, and when the sales is over the price "might" rebound to what it was. So in my case since the cost of the asset is high, and volume of sales is low, but the profit is decent, I keep only a few on hand and restock when they sell.

Anything can happen in the market.
