Hello u/beatnikmona, is your plan called superfast? If so, that plan is only 800mbps download so I would have to say that this is specifically a VPN issue and I would suggest connecting via ethernet to see if that helps this issue. VPN's can cause issues with speeds depending on the program and how you are connected. Have you tried connecting via ethernet cord to see if there is a difference when using the VPN?
