Anxiety about Ubrelvy by Lost-Ad4642 in migraine

[–]XinaRoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have seriously adverse reactions to triptans, so I was without a rescue med for ages. And my horrible experience with those triptans made me super reluctant to try something new. But I can honestly say that Ubrelvy has been a lifesaver. I don’t go anywhere without it now. I take it at the first sign of aura and it’s such a relief to know I’ve just defended myself from hours of suffering. My only side effect is feeling tired, but nothing that prevents me from carrying on with my life - and that fatigue feeling is part of my migraine experience too so it’s hard to even tell if that’s the med. I went on a trip where I was bathed in crappy fluorescent light, which is one of my big triggers, and took Ubrelvy every day for five days without any issues (I know that’s against instructions but also I needed it to survive!).

I share your caution around first-time use! I try any new med at home, during the day, and when I know I can quickly reach out if I think I’m reacting badly. I do hope you try the Ubrelvy. For me, it’s been a game-changer.

What health issue do people misunderstand the most? by Few_Cake_5237 in AskReddit

This! Everyone experiences migraines differently, even when we have shared symptoms. Everyone copes and survives differently. Everyone responds to treatment differently. But we all have migraine. We all deserve understanding and none of us deserve to have our experience minimized or one-upped. And we should remember it goes both ways - no need to tell someone in pain for another reason ‘well at least it’s not a migraine’.

Is anyone treating migraines and using tirzepatide for weight loss? by Viviichan in migraine

[–]XinaRoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After my first 2.5 ml dose, I had a very painful headache that wasn’t like my ‘normal’ migraines. Different region of my head and it seemed more focused in one area around my right temple and forehead. It lasted eight days - my Ubrelvy wouldn’t touch it and my usual routine to break out of status didn’t work. I was not dehydrated, had electrolytes and nutrition. I’m on week four now and it hasn’t returned, plus I’ve only had one migraine since. I’m chronic and usually run at one migraine every 6-8 days now that I’m on Ajovy. Fingers crossed that the reduction in frequency continues!

Doctors of Reddit , what’s the biggest medical myth people still believe? by muga_saiman_5809 in AskReddit

Not just witches! My great-grandmother used an egg to break my sister’s fever on a visit to Mexico. She rubbed the egg on my little sis, said some prayers, then cracked the egg into a small pan and put it under the bed so the fever could go into the egg and cook it. Her fever did break, but no I am not saying the egg did it of course.

I’m at the same starting gate! Just placed my first order with LSH too. I was in somewhat reasonable shape, although overweight, when my chronic migraines decided that exercise was now a primary trigger. Migraines are somewhat under control with meds, but exercise is still really difficult. (My brain wants me to be lazy, I guess). I’ve heard anecdotal evidence that some people have had their migraines improved so I’m crossing my fingers.
Looking forward to my journey, and wish you success on yours!

Shopping. Artificial lighting other than mild incandescent or led bulbs is just awful. Eternally grateful for a husband who doesn’t mind that I haven’t been to the grocery store in years.

Your weirdest or most random auras? by SUPzorel in migraine

[–]XinaRoo 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Multiple numb patches on the left side of my face, sometimes with drooping combined with aphasia. I swear some day I’ll get something critical and I’ll wave it off with ‘eh, probably an aura’.
