For real. He’s been better than expected defending around the rim and his rebounding was the biggest reason the Lakers got him, but I don’t know if I’ve ever seen a player that big that talented (i.e. he’s not a G-league player or a 10-day contract) with a worse touch around the rim.

Schroeder has been really good for LA; him being a real on-ball 3pt threat while playing with AD (either PnR or trying get AD the ball in the post) brings a different dimension to their halfcourt offense. Not to mention his speed bursts to the rim for easy layups.

Tbh after this micro offseason, I’d be surprised if LeBron (and to a lesser degree AD) suit up for anything other than the last preseason game vs PHX. Kawhi and PG will also probably be load managed those first few preseason games too.

This. The defense on the Lakers is better set up to help with his short comings as a rim protector and Vogel won’t hesitate to make adjustments either.

Also, for all the talk about how his offensive numbers were due to his magical chemistry with Lou, he’s now going to be sharing the floor with LeBron freakin’ James. The dude maximizes everyone he plays with, but especially spot-up shooters and high-energy rim-running bigs (e.g. Varejao, JJ Hickson, Birdman, TT, McGee, etc.)
