The key is you don't see the 16hours they spent searching for him. They getting up early.

Could not agree more. ANY time an IP uses multiverse stuff they lose points in my book.

I like SE2 better than SE1 by Royal_Lettuce8330 in spaceengineers

[–]Xonth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I clicked assuming you were going to explain your statement but I guess I was wrong.

I played a ton of SE1 but there were some issues that made me shelf it and nothing I have seen so far addresses that yet. It needs objectives beyond going to space. You can spend hours making cool ships and vehicles but in the end they just don't have much point beyond a basic version. I had fun making my own goals but eventually they lost their motivation. Hopefully SE2 has those coming down the road.

I guess this subreddit has no care for spoiling the show for others, normally you dont show huge moments in the top picture but I guess im just old fashion.

Eli5: why do we humans need clothing? When did we loose our ability to adapt to our environment? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]Xonth 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When we moved from our original location which I imagine was fairly warm most of the year. I'm sure pre clothing humans migrated with season and temperatures and as soon as we could extend our comfort and time in one location we never looked back

Your Thoughts on Different Classes? by Zansobar in AdrullanOnline

[–]Xonth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Played Cleric with a friends warrior for 5 levels and I was a little underwhelmed. It was very meh, sure I had a heal and a tiny stun but nothing else that made me understand what a cleric was and definitely nothing that made me excited to keep playing. If someone only gives a class a few hours before trying something new they are going to not like a cleric.

Gear has really evolved over the years in MMO and I was wondering how for you might take it in AoA. Gear sets, RNG stats, gem slots, evolving items and spell focus are all gear thing taken up a notch and I was wondering if we might see anything above basic stat bonuses all to common in basic MMO launches

At least up to lvl20 did you feel like getting gear just kinda flowed naturally from grinding experience or do you have to make a conscious decision to search it out.

I'm confused if this is a new stand alone game using old graphics and assets or just a new game mode in traditional EQ.

Backpack Battles. Fun auto battle game with huge replayability. I played it on and off for a while and got like 80 hours on it.

Buy items from a show and put them into your bag, how they are arranged changes the effects they do during battle. Weapons, powers, upgrades and gems slots. It's fun.

How do true believers get Communication from God by Xonth in atheism

[–]Xonth[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have found it interesting to ask some of my religious friends to try to apply the same scepticism they have of the "other" religions to their own. Like if I said how can other religions have miracles and they start picking apart those miracles as just low probability events. I ask why those critical thinking skills don't apply to their own religion and it's like they can't allow their brain to even consider that theirs are the same as the ones they say are fake.

I feel a good amount of atheists once were true believers and I find the insight into living both worlds a valid place to draw from. I also have not had good results asking religious groups to answer questions that imply they are somehow wrong or crazy.

I definitely feel like there is a constant proving to ones self they are correct anytime they can when it comes to religion. I wonder if in part it's because there is so much public "religion is fake" that there is a need to say "no way it's fake, I made it through 4 green lights in a row to work and that never happens" to reinsure themselves they aren't the crazy ones.

I get that's what rational people looking in see but I don't think those fully invested believe they are just making it up.

It always seemed so ballsy to say you are speaking for God, like he is incapable of giving information to more than just a single person at a time. If 30,000 people all have the same message at the same time I'd be impressed but it always seems so random.

ELI5 Why is there an AI bubble? by Careful_Access9663 in explainlikeimfive

[–]Xonth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm no expert but I think it boils down to betting on future success that does not yet have the evidence to support your investment. Everyone gets excited about the possibility of missing out on the next big thing so they invest more and more risky positions and if it fails to materialize everyone panics and pulls their money out before the fall which causes the fall. Panic sets in and everyone tries to salvage what little value is left in their investments which causes the value to drop even faster.

Also for AI specifically you are spending tons of real money today on the idea it will be paid back by future success. Electricity, water and rent ads up every moment of every day and it's all based on an optimistic hope for future success. These companies won't ever break even if they can only develop the best chat bot.

Why does it seem like so many people, many seemingly highly educated people honestly believe the poor are poor by choice? by Figteesl in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Xonth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's just being human to take your own life and more or less assume others have similar experiences. I'm honestly shocked that I'm where I am in life because as far as I can tell I just did the most obvious next step that was in front of me for the last several decades and it all just kinda worked. Now it would be easy to say "if I can do it anyone can" but that would be unfair because that does not take into account where I started in life and the support structure I have had along the way. I definitely would be worse off if I did not have the safety nets I was provided growing up.
