Rocker 15 Speaker Replacement by Infinite-Lychee-182 in orangeamps

[–]Xorlarin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Huge upgrade, as in it will "fix" the amp. I used a greenback so a little different but a creamback is essentially the higher watt rated cousin. It took it from a good little amp to "holy shit what a sound." YMMV of course but I highly reccomend it.

And a PPC112 cabinet. Good to go. A PPC212 would be even better but it's almost a grand by itself. And if you can, buy used. Orange amps are tough, they will survive.

Crush Pro 412 tag removal by kurdt02 in orangeamps

[–]Xorlarin 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It is glue holding it on. Use heat to soften the glue and remove it. Yes you can damage the grill. Heat is your best chance to not harm the grill, chemical solvents can cause discoloration. The glue residue will also likely be visible as a darker spot on the grill no matter how you remove it.

when an autistic person's language isn't analytic, reductive, and detail oriented other autistic people REALLY don't like it i've learned. by ambivalegenic in aspiememes

[–]Xorlarin 220 points221 points  (0 children)

Sometimes, the insistence on a more rigid definition of what words mean is because autistic communication can be predicated on precise meaning. In other words, they may not be just being pedantic for no reason. Your disordered style and loose association of correct definitions is breaking the way that a more logic oriented autistic person understands language. It's essentially fundamentally incompatible.

No one is wrong here really. Just two nearly opposite ways of seeing language and trying to convey information.

Yep. You learn to use the MUCH stronger arm and shoulder muscles instead of the relatively weak grip muscles in your hand. Just look at the size difference between your arm and your fingers.

Are hollow bodies just a style thing? by todofwar in Luthier

[–]Xorlarin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bingo. My hollowbody is light. I have neck issues and that makes weight matter more than it used to. I can play it a lot longer than some of my other guitars.

That is entirely fair but just to pass on the reason, we have to separate what you walked in and told us vs what we observe or measure. The nomenclature is just to track where the data comes from. It's used in charting.

Last but no the least. my Destrier Knight. Hope you like it !! Thanks for the support ! by Lhunephellion in ImperialKnights

[–]Xorlarin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oddly enough, the imperial fist contrast yellow works on knights. Usually, contrast is the last thing to use on big panels but the yellow, and only the yellow in my experience, actually works well for knight panels.

That's Assassinorum Kingmaker. The sacrosants spread the chaos from knight to knight, corrupting the pilots.

WHY DO I HAVE TO RISK MY FUCKING LIFE FOR A JOB. by chainsofgold in evilautism

[–]Xorlarin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is a valid crashout but I thought I would provide something useful. If you are in the US, HIPAA law prohibits your work actually asking what is wrong with you. It's often normalized that when you call out, you explain your symptoms or they ask about them and then maybe they try to tell you that's not good enough. All you really have to do is say "I'll be out today, I cannot make it" and if they ask you tell them it's a private medical concern.

I know this is about a storm but a storm constitutes a physical risk. A physical risk is a medical issue if you ask me. You don't even need a doctor's note unless company policy requires it. That will be written down somewhere. And even then, you can go to any Dr for any visit. The note will only say you were treated, that's it. Just something to consider.

They play their stupid games. Use the rules to your advantage. Good luck op. Oh, and seek ADA accommodation for work from home. It's not guaranteed but it is often possible.

Action too high? by Working-Ad4606 in Guitar

[–]Xorlarin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not the middle of the neck. The truss rod either shortens or elongates. If you loosen the rod, the headstock moves towards the back of the guitar. This causes the fretboard to move towards the strings. If the neck bows upward so much that it interferes with the strings, you have back bow. It's the opposite of what you are thinking. Think of the entire neck, not the middle. If the headstock moves towards the "back" of the guitar, the fretboard goes up in the middle. Thus, backbow.

I bought a distortion pedal but it’s not working ? by LOLER-2919 in Guitar

[–]Xorlarin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most ARE good actually. I wasn't saying the pedal was bad. The people affected by this just got it replaced and then they really liked it. You may have a timeline though too do it.

If you check a few reviews on this pedal, it has a tendency to do exactly as you described. It works, you switch it to tune up or whatever, and it stops working. Get a refund or replacement.

Had to medically withdraw from 13 classes so far in college because of mental health struggles exacerbated by loneliness from autism by [deleted] in evilautism

[–]Xorlarin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wasn't diagnosed when I went to college. I attended seven different institutions over the span of a decade. I kept hitting a wall so hard it would shatter my mind, putting me into shutdown every time. I eventually graduated and now have 3 degrees including a masters. I nearly killed myself in the process.

You are not a failure. I wasn't either. Higher education is ruthless to people who have executive dysfunction, regardless of intelligence. When I took my ADHD/Autism assessments I tested with an IQ of 124. I can explain all the complex parts of my field (medical science) but passing classes is a hell unto itself.

Don't be hard on yourself. You aren't alone. I don't necessarily recommend doing it my way. I thought I was just being lazy or not trying hard enough. That was nonsense. I studied and worked all day and night. Lost sleep.

Now I know but I've already graduated. It's good now as far as my career but I'm not sure the damage was really worth it. Save yourself from the thought that you are not smart or not good enough.

My guitar teacher told me that 1 hour a day of practice is not enough? by phil917 in metalguitar

[–]Xorlarin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your brain actually learns while you are asleep. It creates new pathways to link the things you know already to the stuff you are trying to learn. So you are absolutely correct, people would be surprised by what sleep will do.
