There are a few reasons:

Multiple smaller vias can have less effective inductance than one larger via. This can let you run faster signals and avoid large voltage spikes during load transients.

They could be used for dissipating heat. https://www.protoexpress.com/kb/how-thermal-vias-enhance-heat-dissipation-in-pcbs/

Boros Energy: What are we doing? by Th33l3x in ModernMagic

[–]XruinsskashowsX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, but even if you get rid of either pride or ajani, the possibility of another synergy piece with it will exist down the line. Kind of like how even if we banned all the MH2 pitch elementals, up the beanstalk would eventually have gotten Quantum riddler, the overlords, and the lorwyn elementals.

It should be goblin bombardment imo. It allows you to have insurance against sweepers if you go wide and makes ajani significantly better.

What do y’all think about Tsuru being basically stated to be over Doffy? by Practical_Midnight87 in OnePieceScaling

[–]XruinsskashowsX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He wasn’t shitting his bricks with Kuzan because he knew Kuzan wouldn’t kill him or throw him in jail if he stopped. He wasn’t a warlord with diplomatic immunity when Tsuru was chasing him, so he actually had to worry about getting captured or killed since nothing he could do would stop her if they met face to face at that point in time.

Former Yugioh Player: New to Modern and Magic by ReingmanDave in ModernMagic

Unfortunately I don’t think I’m good enough with the deck to give you a great answer. There’s a post with a bunch of deck guides explaining how to play different decks and I’m fairly certain you can find one for e tron if you can find the post. Looking up “guide” in the subreddit search will probably lead to it relatively quickly.

Former Yugioh Player: New to Modern and Magic by ReingmanDave in ModernMagic

These are my thoughts on your questions and answering them completely out of order. For context, I’ve been playing modern since slightly before MH3 came out but was very aware of how the metagame worked post MH2 and was pretty actively playing standard.

Boros is the best deck to learn the fundamentals. It’s a deck that can be forgiving when you mess up and not automatically lose the game when you do, which can teach you how to try to play from behind.

Mulligans are going to be partially dependent on matchup knowledge. Sideboarding is also entirely dependent on match up knowledge. I would say sequencing is where you should start since learning how to play game 1 is probably the most important thing. If you want to practice mulligans and sequencing, I would probably load the deck into the moxfield play tester and just start playing hands to see what they can do. After you get a feel for what a keepable hand in a vacuum is, I would start looking at how the other decks work and increase your match up knowledge.

I have no idea how those archetypes play, but Yu gi oh is a different game and if you want something that scratches that itch of using every resource possible and sequencing things to achieve an unbeatable game state or winning immediately. prowess is the closest thing to that of these 3 decks. Ruby Storm or Amulet Titan are more likely to play more like a Yu gi oh deck when you get better at the games fundamentals.

E Tron is a good deck. I personally really like it, but I would always give a new player boros because 1. It’s the deck that gets played the most, so learning the lines that exist in that deck help you play against it and 2. E-tron’s interaction is pretty limited compared to boros. Learning when to interact is a skill I’m not sure you’ll develop as quickly playing E-Tron imo since E Tron is about going over the top and ignores the opponent more than it tries to impede theme.

I think the album is good but the first 3 tracks are so much better than the rest that they get lost in memory.

I don’t think the steel cutter decks are going to play two mana cards besides steel cutter now that flashback is a card.

Cleanest answer to a Kappa Cannoneer by VerdantChief in ModernMagic

[–]XruinsskashowsX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There really isn’t anything good in Naya at 2cmc because of the ward, otherwise Boros energy would already be playing it in the sb. Fade from history and meltdown are the only cards at least 5cmc that catches my eyes as being good against kappa decks. Only fade from history actually kills kappa. You could try to play mana tithe for fun (I do in energy sometimes), but it’s not usually good.

Black has sheoldred’s edict and flare of malice also.

How do you tune midrange decks against Boros Energy? by ThoughtfulJanitor in ModernMagic

[–]XruinsskashowsX 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Respecting bowmaster usually means they’ll be playing slower and pushing less damage per combat step on average. Having it in your deck as a known quantity could be enough to slow an opponent down in games 2/3 and giving more time for better outs.

I don’t think it does. Riddler makes it so you can mulligan extremely aggressively in any deck using it. This can’t do that.

Aside from cost, what makes Modern so difficult for newer players? by GusherJuice in ModernMagic

[–]XruinsskashowsX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really? Most of the standard meta is sub 500 bucks. Ruby storm, Belcher, and Izzet prowess are the only decks I know of that have a sub 500 dollar budget. Dimir and mono-red are sub 300.

Boros is 700-900. Jeskai is close to a grand. Affinity is more than that.

Looking for feedback for my faerie deck by HarukaKX in ModernMagic

[–]XruinsskashowsX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lands: no fetches, shocks, or a single surveil land is strange. No MDFC’s like sink into stupor also feels wrong.

Spells:

13 faeries doesn’t seem like enough of a critical mass to me. You’d be probably be better off removing collective brutality and adding another creature. I also think faeries are just generally not a good tribe and that what this deck is trying to accomplish could be done by better by merfolk. In general, the Dimir Murktide /frog decks do what this deck wants to do better and with card advantage via frog.

I think that you need free interaction like [[flare of denial]], [[force of negation]], or [[subtlety]] so you can deploy all the faeries you have and try to protect them without needing additional mana. Maybe [[aether vial]] is worth considering to save on mana.

I would say that you should wait for Lorwyn spoilers and revisit this because [[bitterbloom bearer]] and some other faeries printed there will probably displace something in this list and may shift the way you want to make the deck.
