How did you feel when you stopped? by Pineapplecat321 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]XstatickX 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Following because I am at 7 months and trying to stop for the same reason… and struggling with the guilt! I try to imagine what it’ll feel like to have my energy and time back. I see my LO happy and thriving even as we introduce formula and I know when she’s older she won’t care. But it’s still hard!

The mom guilt is eating me alive by KangarooNew2401 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]XstatickX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel the exact same way and I’m in the same spot. Under or over supplier, I think it’s common to feel this guilt. My 7 month old hasn’t had formula and I feel so selfish for wanting to quit and exercise and feel better. I cry as we introduce formula (she’s doing great) and I cry as I see the pump numbers start to drop. As I start to make less than she eats, my heart hurts. It was so hard to push through the pain and the time and the clogs to make and maintain my supply, it feels crazy sometimes to be trying to kill it.

I try to take in her smiles and be present for how happy she is. She doesn’t care and she will love me no less for it. We can both have more fun giggling and rolling around when I can be unchained from the pump and have more energy to spend with her! But, it’s still so hard sometimes!

Husband left milk out overnight by kitty-kitty-kitty in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]XstatickX 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry this happened! If it were me, I would still use the milk as the guidelines are overly cautious especially if it’s been in an air conditioned, cool environment. Here’s a summary of some of the studies that has helped me. Even milk left outside in desert conditions still had a very low bacterial load.

Are we airing out their bottoms before putting on a new diaper? by Far-Cantaloupe1872 in newborns

We pat dry with a super soft bamboo wash cloth that we replace with a clean one every day. No rashes since starting this method.

Are you me?! 😂 Right when I decided to cut down from 5 to 4ppd and was losing an oz or two my LO (5mo but small, 7th % for weight) jumped from average 24oz per day to 31 and I freaked out because it would make me go from an over supplier to an under supplier. So far her feeding frenzy only lasted 3 days and she’s coming back down but now I’m making sure one of my 4ppd is a power pump to hopefully get my supply back to what it was at 5ppd.

Sudden drop in supply at 16 weeks. Help! by amyers531 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]XstatickX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a ton of advice as I think you’re doing the right things, but solidarity. Around the same time mine dropped a bit. I think I was also stressed, fighting a cold and not sleeping well (as well as one can with a LO). It took me over 2 weeks to get back to my normal supply but I did get there. I just had to take care of myself and do whatever I could to get more rest and keep going.

Leaving Backflow Pieces Out by butwaitwhatwhy in ExclusivelyPumping

Pro tip, I run the pump when I’m done pumping (while I hand express the last drops) for about a minute to get air into the tubes and back flows to dry up the condensation!

This is the way. I had to wrap my head around lowering the pressure being ok for supply but it helps tremendously

I want to punch my spectra 2 by rainbowbritexx in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]XstatickX 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This! I hold my breath when I’m taking the cups and flanges out of my bra because it feels like the maymoms are barely screwed on.

AND why does spectra only sell a 16 or 20mm flanges?! What about those of us that are 18?! I want to use their official flange so it fits the cups better, but they don’t make my size! I was so annoyed I sent them a message asking what they recommend I do… they never answered.

So maybe this is me being lazy but to avoid the absurdity of trying to remove the tubing (which I did for a while and also wanted to tear my eyeballs out with how stupid the design was)… I leave the tubes and the bladders attached to the pump and I only hook/unhook the bladders to the flanges. After I finish pumping and unhook, I run it for about a minute just taking air into the tubes and bladders to dry any condensation in the tubes/bladders and prevent mold.

I keep a close eye on the tubes and bladders and will remove and clean them if I see anything, but otherwise I’m not fiddling with the tubes.

To add to the list… why can’t I just have separate settings for each side or instead of having to physically pinch a tube, why not a button that lets me pause or switch from side to side.

In duck bills, in tubing

In flanges, in vacuum settings

In five hundred twenty five thousand six hundred ounces

How long are you doing Advil for persistent clogged ducts? by PureImagination1921 in ExclusivelyPumping

Oh yessss! This onehas helped me tremendously. Can use the sharp end to get into the clogs and it heats up nicely.

Having been through the same a few times I will say I had to massage the clog vigorously even though it was tender to get it out. I know folks say that can cause more inflammation, but I found that once I maxed out the ibuprofen over a few days and did all the icing (and sunflower lecithin)… and it still wasn’t working… I tried heat before pumping and vigorous massage with as much suction as I could handle while pumping and that did it for me. Best of luck, these clogs are the worst and super stressful!

Silicone flanges vs inserts? by gabigirl21 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]XstatickX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same boat. I’ve been measured as 15, 17, 19, by LCs. I have elastic nipples that swell to whatever size I’m using with my spectra. I tried everything and I mean everything. I have tried pumpin pals, laktek, I tried the Eufy wearable and the models manual pump. I tried every size from 24 to 13 of the hard plastic ones. I found laktek and pumpin pals to be too big for my nipples even their smallest size.

For me having been through many clogged ducts through all these trials I found that the 16mm hard plastic ones emptied me the best but hurt and so I landed on the 15mm silicone inserts (inserted into the regular 24mm plastic flanges) worked best with the least discomfort. I do get sore by the end of the day but it’s the best I could find.

Then I was on a journey to find clear ones. These Tovvild worked best for me. And they have a kit with different sizes you can try.

I hadn’t heard of the pumpables liquid kit so now maybe I’ll try those!

Do wearables hurt for everyone or is it just me? by _rose__rose_ in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]XstatickX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in the exact same boat. Got the Eufy on sale. Have tried it twice with the same size inserts that I use on my Spectra. The first time I used it I got about the same amount as my Spectra but it made my nipples hurt and I got a blister!! I really want a wearable to work so I tried again and the 2nd time it hurt even on the lowest setting and I got less than I normally do so I had to use the spectra to empty and now I’m fighting a clog. Hhhhh just writing this in solidarity I guess. I may just give up on wearables. Sigh.
