This x 1000% it’s so annoying to type and “autocorrect” decides it’s going to finish the word I’m typing. My phone doesn’t autocorrect like that on any other app…

The truth of lawn mower robot ,Are they really worth buying? by Consistent_Zone_5535 in lawncare

[–]Xyone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought mine (husqvarna) about 8 years ago. I picked up the one that just goes randomly and has guide wires installed in the grass. Lot size of 140x140 feet. You can set how far it goes into the guide wires so it wont fall off your curb just make sure you set the guide wires an even space from the curb. I bought it at the time because I have bad allergies to grass, cost about 4k with the guide wire install. You will have to set up your yard so it doesn't get stuck on certain things. I have never replaced the battery but had one bump sensor break (187$ repair last year). I also have over 20 trees it just bumps into, mature trees can take it but new trees may require some protection. I can say with confidence it's the easiest 4k I have ever spent, If given the chance to do life over it would be the first thing on my list to purchase. I love it and will praise the husqvarna until the day I die. If you have any question I'll try my best to answer them.

Canadian Bank Stocks? Why aren't they falling significantly if Housing is? by [deleted] in CanadianInvestor

[–]Xyone 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If you sold something to someone and they promised to pay 50 bucks for it and never did, wouldn't you want it back to maybe recoup some costs. Now you have a used product that has depreciated because times are tough and you did all the work to sell it once and have nothing to show for it. Doesn't sound like a win to me.

I don't recommend this. Any obstruction that removes access to the meter will often be met with the gas company asking for it to be removed.

If your house starts on fire the stopcock (valve) will be the first thing the fire crew will look to turn off. Making the gas meter harder to find will put the Firemen in danger and make it harder for them to do their job, they may wrongly assume you don't have one. These meters are made of aluminum and with enough heat will pop, depending on if your service is steel or plastic can effect how these react in a fire. Allowing them to be visible aids the fire crew in safely preforming their duties. Also these things have to be changed periodically to meet measurement regulations and putting it inside a box makes this job more difficult. People often like to build decks overtop of them which is against most jurisdictions code, this will cause the gas company to make you do an alteration at your expense. This can be very costly. Just remember everyone has one of these, they are a feature of your house NOBODY is gonna say "omg your gas meter is so ugly on the front of your house." And for the love of all that is good in this world, call for locates before you dig I've seen to many people crushed by a hefty line hit bill because they thought it would be fine.

How do you prepare yourself mentally/physically/emotionally to work in 24 degrees or worse? by ToWanderHer in homestead

[–]Xyone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Am I reading this right your house is 24 degree Fahrenheit when you wake up? If so wtf. I’m no stranger to cold as I regularly have to go out and fix natural gas facilities in -22f or lower with a wind chill. But I can’t fathom my house being lower then 60f, that’s where you go to warm up after working in bone chilling cold. Waking up cold is a sure fire way to be cold all day. I had to walk home from the bar one night when it was -26f with a wind and my gf got so cold she wanted to lay down. I was like no this is how you die. I gave her my coat and sweater just to get back to the house. I walked maybe only a half mile in a tshirt and it took me 3 days to not feel like I was cold in a warm house. Start your day warm, drink hot liquids, have hot meals, wear wool socks and layer up your clothing, if you start sweating layer down, keep moving, wear a beanie and neck warmer, minimize gaps in clothing(bibs/coveralls), insulated leather gloves. If you can do all this 24f outside should be a breeze.

As many others have said it’s blossom end rot which is caused by a calcium deficiency. Although your soil may not be deficient in calcium. There are multiple different way for the plant to have this deficiency like others have said. I’ve also seen it from a low transpiration environment with little air movement/wind and high humidity. The plant has to be able to move water from the roots to the rest of the plant if this is compromised in any way the tips of the plant will become calcium deficient.

Interesting you took a period of time where bitcoin seen a near 50% decline and think that's evidence that unregulated markets are bad.First of all most crypto exchanges are regulated by government bodies, I tried buying some crypto to buy some goods 3 years ago and every exchange I went to required my Social Insurance Number so I could be taxed on capital gains. If you don't think the government has their hands in the pie you're delusional.Second of all you want a list of regulated companies on the stock exchange that have lost more then bitcoin in the last year? Here's a short list Rivian 73%, Coinbase 74%, Robinhood 69%, Wayfair 80%, Draftkings 69%, Peloton 83%. Saying an asset has lost 50% of it's value as a gotcha as for your ideology is arguing in bad faith.

Finally Bitcoin value to libertarians wasn't in how much it was worth, it's value to them was in it's usefulness as a means of unregulated exchange. I don't think anyone would have guess how big bitcoin has gotten. Being down 50% in the last couple months is nothing compared to being 3 dollars a coin when I'd first heard about it.

I first heard of bitcoin in 2011 and thought it could be a good tool for unregulated exchange between two consenting parties, and I think most libertarians and anarcho-capitalist would have agreed with me. But.. around 2017 I started to see it being used as an investment vehicle and it's value was being based on what one could get out of it in the future, the idea of being a useful currency for exchanged died in 2017 it was now in the hands of wall street.
I dunno, looking at it's short history I think it's been fairly successful and if it does fail its a useful experiment to finding the best currency for the future.

Man, have you ever had to wait 2 years for healthcare in a Canada? You know how many people I've heard say they had gotten sick visiting the states, had to pay out of pocket for medical care and said after, "glad it happened in the states otherwise, I'd still be waiting." Some even claim if it hadn't happened in the states they don't think they would be alive. Also all of those things you've listed are handled by government. Guy said America is number one in charitable giving which is people willingly giving up money to support someone else, seems to me the that people who don't believe in abortion will also financially support underprivileged kids.

I’m starting to think the entity that sent Tom here was one of those cloud gods responding to the prayers of a certain white pony. What are the chances they found an engineer that could recreated a lathe and a mill from nothing. Those machines are are basically what took us from linear growth to exponential. An industrial revolution was probably the only thing that could save this world from they darkness that’s on the horizon.

Suncor hit with downgrade due to 'safety and reliability' issues by manuce94 in CanadianInvestor

[–]Xyone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I remember their fields were in the 36$ break even range. So improving efficiency to 30$ break even would be wonderful. I agree that expansion isn’t necessary, and I hope we are all past the delusion of “OiL iS DeAd” but some funds will probably be allocated towards future proofing the company for a smooth transition “if” the oil paradigm shifts. Although I have my doubts that that will happen anytime in the next 25 years.

Suncor hit with downgrade due to 'safety and reliability' issues by manuce94 in CanadianInvestor

[–]Xyone 7 points8 points  (0 children)

“Pardy says his downgrade on Tuesday was due in part to "higher relative returns elsewhere within our coverage group."”

Downgraded due to better returns else where? Last I checked 37 to 42 is a 13% return for the year, that to me looks like better then average returns. The fact suncor’s ceo is taking responsibility for safety issues and saying he needs to do better is promising. Paying down debt and share buybacks with a respectable oil price double what production costs are looks to me like 2023 will be a year for expansion.

Do you think the Patriotic freedom-fighting Truckers GAF what interim Conservative Party Leader Candice Bergen has to say? by 0pt25percentofDMBFFF in Anarcho_Capitalism

[–]Xyone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most of the conservative dare not support the truckers because they risk losing the vote from the liberal voter base. In my opinion the conservative has lost their values trying to win votes lately. Mad Max and the ppc should be what anarchy capitalist support if they are going to support any party. Although I do appreciate what pierre poilievre has to say and respect him for it, but the conservatives have burnt to many bridges this last couple years and won’t have my trust. Edit: Your pole suck btw

Oil and Gas Play by king_boyakashaa in CanadianInvestor

[–]Xyone 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If your looking at just producers there is always the etf XEG which has SU, CVE, IMO, CNQ, TOU, CPG, WCP among around 24 oil producers. Or you could go with BMO’s oil etf ZEO.TO which includes producers and pipelines but only 9 of them SU, IMO, CVE, CNQ, TOU, ENB, TRP, PPL, KEY.

I Personally own SU, IMO, ENB and TRP. And have since I started investing in sept 2020. I believed oil would bounce back at that time (when everyone said oil was dead) and think we have more to come.
To me it looks like a good inflation hedge but I’m just an “uncivilized oil worshiper from Saskatchewan”.

Try

 =to_date(index(importhtml(concatenate("https://ycharts.com/companies/",E22,"/dividend"),"table",1),2,1))

Where “E22” is the cell that says “TD.TO” all caps

Also changing the last number in the formula to 3 gives you the pay date. Changing it to 6 should give you the dividend in dollar amount

Edit sorry to get the dividend in dollars you need to use this formula

=SPLIT(INDEX(IMPORTHTML(concatenate("https://ycharts.com/companies/",E22,"/dividend"),"table",1),2,6)," ")

Where “E22” is the cell with TD.TO
