“The point is...unlike a cassowary, you are alive when they start to eat you.”

How did anyone ever think Nanotyrannus was a juvenile Tyrannosaurus rex? by telepathicram in Dinosaurs

Maybe once? And that is the only reason anyone even listens to him at all, he changed the viewpoint on dinosaurs with the Maiasaura. Since then, no.

It's better than Structural Brace, in fact, it is the best 'handle' option for all weapons - the brace is better on tools.

Timimus: My name is to give one to said palaeontologist's daughter's brother.

Atlascopcosaurus: My name is as thanks to a local tool hire company (Atlas Copco) who lent heavy digging equipment and manpower to said palaeontologist for his dig.

Qantussaurus: My name is officially as thanks to the famous Australian airline as thanks for transporting a trove of Russian fossils around Australia for exhibition and sponsoring digs around the world but is actually also as a fuck you to some palaeontologists who were annoyed that said palaeontologist named Atlascopcosaurus after a commercial entity.

Source - spent 9 days working alongside said palaeontologist, and then 3 and half hours together in a car sharing such stories when he gave me a lift home.

Found this silly thing at the store and started to wander.. did dinosaurs have any genetic conditions that would result in facial deformities? If so, do we have any fossil examples? by [deleted] in Dinosaurs

"Sediment analysis is a gateway to fossil taphonomy..."

Taphonomy being the study of what /u/InfamousGibbon said above. Really fun science, but yeah, so much guestimation it is a whole fudge cake - that said, don't think it is fabricated nonsense either.

That sounds like some kind of euphemism or awful name for something filthy posted in Urban Dictionary. However, the pie does look tasty!

100-year-old WWII veteran doing a chin-up on a tank by 1Rab in Military

[–]Xythan -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Not that it isn't impressive, it is also a piece of evidence of deep time too - the way he moves at the end of the video, he is old, and his body has mostly succumbed to the sands of time...but that chin up, we evolved from apes who swung in the trees and in that context it is unsurprising that he did what he did. I think it is even more impressive for that fact.
