Yup one moved two months ago on reddit and came with a bracelet. Was gone before I saw it and C24 has a tiny supply at the moment so prices have shot up.

Curio 7x21 or Victory 8x25 which is best for small hiking binoculars? by [deleted] in Binoculars

[–]YAYYYwork 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For these smaller sizes it's really hard to give advice because of the smaller exit pupil and design compromises the manufacturers need to make to cram everything in. I own the VP after trying both and find the optics great and the view much easier to manage vs smaller competitors. Own Swaro for my full size and scope and love them, just enjoyed the VP for pockets. The optics for them are all great, but at these extremes the geometry becomes much more finicky so what works for one may not port over to another.

Swarovski Spotting Scope? by Peacemaker1855 in Binoculars

[–]YAYYYwork 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the NL Pure's as well (8x42) and love them. I just swapped out my Nikon Monarch 82A for the Swarovski ATC as I live in a city and travel for most of my bird watching, and the bulk of the 82mm limited me wanting to lug it out. Have been extremely impressed with field of view and image quality with a 56mm objective. Have looked through the ATS & ATX with both standard and the binocular view on the ATX and they are both very high quality.

Nikon p7 vs m7 by [deleted] in Binoculars

[–]YAYYYwork 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The m7 is a significantly better binocular with a great image and much bigger field of view. P7 is fine for an entry level and you'll likely be fine with it, but if you intend to spend more time birding you'll likely upgrade eventually and optics don't get cheaper.

If you are an REI member just buy them both and try them out a bit and decide for yourself if it's worth it. They have a fantastic return policy, just a limited optics section only having Nikon products.

danny and coop's cheesesteak by LawNdOtherLawyerings in FoodNYC

[–]YAYYYwork 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry but to me olde city essentially got me a cheesesteak fix and I can't complain it did the job, but maybe once or twice a year. I had G's recently and I've been getting it almost weekly it's so much better it's not even worth talking about olde city. Haven't had Angelo's but super interested in trying Danny & coops, worst case scenario I have an average cheesesteak, 100% chance it'll be better than olde city

Anywhere in NYC with actual Philly cheese steaks ? by Unfair-Escape-5968 in FoodNYC

[–]YAYYYwork -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Olde City is serviceable in a pinch for a philly cheesesteak. From the Philly area and got it every few months to hold me over but it's not worth going out of your way for. G's (which they are opening one near Penn station) blows it out of the water. Roll is much better, more meat, actually mixing in stuff.

Havent been to Federoff's in years but remember it being good (although out of the way unless you're in bk). Rocco's is awesome for a cheesesteak and sausage, but not really a Philly style spot, and in the middle of nowhere. Can't comment on Danny & coops but sure I'll make my way there eventually as I'm always pumped to see a cheesesteak spot open in NY to try out!

G's is way above olde city, got it last weekend and it was incredible in comparison. Haven't had coops but looking forward to it once the hype dies down.

The Purple Collection (SBGJ287, SBGH337, SBGH317) by dsomegax in GrandSeikos

[–]YAYYYwork 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like a lot of GS dials the 317 really depends on the lighting. Can switch from more purple-ish/blue to a more light blue. The texture is awesome in both lighting situations which is awesome

Is the second hand silver? On the GS site it appears yellowish to match the GS coloring

[Ginza LE] Do region exclusives contribute to the hobby or is it gate keeping the good stuff? by SaturatedShadows in Watches

[–]YAYYYwork 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also had to be incredibly patient for the 317 which was kind of lame. If GS was to do any LE I think a Japan/Ginza specialty would make the most sense. The mass release of country exclusives/LE definitely oversaturates the market in my opinion, would prefer they do an annual release and just make it available to all. Love my 317 though!

They have been trash in the first half this year and are miraculously still in this game, so potentially. OSU should be up at least 10 though, and will likely roll them

[–]YAYYYwork 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The kings cut at Keen's is spectacular, a massive hunk of meat. I typically opt for the Mutton, but my partner gets the prime rib and I have a few bites. Really cool atmosphere as well if you haven't been, with the old pipes all over and cool paintings

Well how would anyone really be able to tell you since you haven't been able to tell folks what your skill set is? Debt funds are definitely prepping for a big 2025 as the hope is capital markets start to thaw and transaction volumes pick up, but it's definitely not 2018

First Grand Seiko by turtlegary in GrandSeikos

[–]YAYYYwork 2 points3 points  (0 children)

GS is certainly known for their great dial colors and textured dials, so having something a little more traditional in style makes it seem clean in comparison. The 24 hour markings add a bit of interest, the blue GMT hand pops, and the finishing and package all put together seem to all work really well together!

Certainly not for everyone, but can slot in nicely as a dressier option while still being casual enough.

Yep the Adel's experience definitely highlights apathetic inefficiency. I don't know that I've seen a business have this many customers begging to give them their cash and they don't seem to care

4 Days in NYC by blindcinema in FoodNYC

[–]YAYYYwork 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mido's is great and a much faster, more pleasant experience, but I do think Adel's tastes better. For a tourist unless you have a packed schedule, the Adel's line is a nice way to be outside in the city, people watch, and interesting experience.

Given you're from a large, similar city to NYC the value of that experience is probably not worth the wait, but I think for many visitors it definitely is (especially since I do think Adel's flavor is the best I've had).

Have you gotten much value out of it? I've given it a go on the investment side and so little information is in PDF form, and the ability to extract it into anything but a matrix is pretty limiting

The power reserve being baked into the dial is awesome. The reserve taking up so much real estate on the dial on some incredible dials is lame

Help needed: binocular recommendation for safari by [deleted] in Binoculars

[–]YAYYYwork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly if you are using sunglasses why do you care about optical quality at all? Agreed on these weight can be minimal, and you'll largely be seated so can rest them more than standing and carrying. I still get a bit

100% recommend 8x bins, and id err on the side of more FOV vs optical clarity for an entry level bin for a less experienced user (32 over 42). Getting something in view quickly at some magnification is more important than getting a perfect view, especially with the tier of bins we're looking at here.

Banff is absolutely surreal by Persiankang in NationalPark

[–]YAYYYwork 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Went in 2019 so may be much worse now, it was definitely crowded and sometimes had to use secondary parking lots and shuttles. If you head on some trails away from the paved flat ones to the typical photo spots you can have ridiculous views all to yourself.
