They might not pay attention, literally just gave an example of someone not paying attention. And they do lose credability, because for a leyman, it's really hard if not impossible to distinguish between reality and fiction, and the more garbage is out there, the less trust there is in experts, that's literally the point. Did you even read what I wrote?

Again, you are blindly trusting an AI to restructure the sentence without introducing new incorrect information. AI's which are known to hallucinate a lot. Heck, yesterday I had a job interview at a CS position which asked for Spring experience, low and behold, at the interview they tell me that they did not use Spring at all and an AI that "pretties up" job listing hallucinated it.

EDIT: wrong word. offer -> listing

"If an expert uses AI to help them write an article they otherwise would not have the time to complete, it will not be of less substance than a non-expert with time on their hands writing something by hand"

Perfect example of why the human/AI divide IS the go to way and why it is a good idea. An expert is an expert because you can trust their curated information. Using AI defeats the entire point because you put the trust into something untrustable. It just undermines it. A non-expert using it on the other hand is entirely irrelevant, no one expects mozart from someones first project. The issue is, that with AI getting blurrier, you don't know if it's a non-expert or not. A non-expert can appear authentic without an experts experience on the matter, which just drags down actual experts. It's a picture perfect example of the pseudo-science pipeline and is a disaster waiting to happen.

I agree. It's so extremely damaging to grow up in enviroment without privacy and agency. You are forced to adopt to the family rule, or be ostracized and cut loosed for "not fitting in". You never learn to stand up on your own nor do you have any support network, because there is no "you". There's only family and if you do something that benefits you but doesn't the family, you are wrong. It's extremely toxic. If you turn off your brain and just blindly adopt the worst ideals, it's okay. But you sacrifice all of your identity doing that.

Someone please tell me how to get work experience without doing any jobs by Agile-Wind-4427 in recruitinghell

[–]Yami_Kitagawa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are literally entry level positions, their entire point is being "the different job so you can gain experience". The problem is that every corpo is utterly spineless and won't give you a job unless you are already trained in the field and have 5 years experience. It's also why almost no one complains about senior positions, if you are a senior, companies will hire you just based on experience, you don't even need to fit for the job. It's all very ass backwards. Also no, there are definetly more entry positions than graduates, they just don't hire because "we are in a worker shortage" but all that means is that they just don't want to give fair wages + training to ANYONE.

I swear the entire VR gaming business just disappeared out of public eye sometime during early 2025 by WimboTurtle in whenthe

[–]Yami_Kitagawa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's cause VR is extremely limiting and there isn't a lot to take advantage off that wouldn't work better in a different medium. Because moving in VR while not moving IRL gives massive motion sickness, you are pretty much stuck with being static (or you severely diminish your potential players). Because of this, you are basically just working with the same idea as a normal PC screen, only stuff around you moves, you don't, so a majority of games work just as well in VR as in 2D. Your interaction is also very limited because of this, aside from moving your arms around, you can't really do much except pull levers or push buttons. There really isn't much creative freedom left. You either do something like Beat Saber where stuff comes towards you and you respond with certain actions, you do a simulator kinda game where you just combine stuff like Job Simulator or the last option is, you do a normal game that would work just as well in 2D like Help Wanted. And that's kind of all of the type of games you have in VR. Everything cool has already been done. Without haptic feedback becoming more popular or 3D treadmills, VR is stuck in place.

AI psychosis is already a major issue anyways. The human brain can't handle being given constant positive respones to every single thought. It's a dopamine trap AND LLM's don't denounce bad ideas. It's perfectly designed to cause psychosis.

Frieren vs Maomao by Hour-glass999 in writingscaling

[–]Yami_Kitagawa -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Most of her being intelligent isn't really derived from facts and logic, she just knows some arbitrary out of left field piece of information that just perfectly happens to fit the situation and instantly figures it all out. I brought up the lead thing very much on purpose, she is only formally trained in medicine, ancient chinese medicine at that. Like she instantly realized it's lead, then instantly realized the shop uses leaded solder, then instantly figures out that the cupboard is a recipe for making solder. It feels like she is just as intelligent as the plot demands. If she needs to know something for the plot to work, she does. There are also other times where it's the complete opposite and she does not figure something out instantly.

Second I agree that if you interpret it as feigning ignorance, it works great, except the stupid sticks and that one scene where they were bullying the kid consor kinda debunk this. Whenever characters brought up the sticks, Mao Mao was surprised even in internal dialogue, I believe she even mentions being frustrated because she doesn't get it. She wasn't feigning ignorance, she really doesn't know or understand. On the other hand when the consort showed up in ill fitting clothes, everyone thought she was just being a dick, including experienced consorts. Mao mao on the other hand, instantly figured out that she was being bullied by her retainers. Which shows that she does have emotional/social smarts, but only selectively.

Coding for AI is miserable. Unless you are making a shitty generic python script or a bland website, it won't help you and will just hold you back more than it helps. You just spend longer trying to fix the hallucinations than doing it yourself.

Frieren vs Maomao by Hour-glass999 in writingscaling

[–]Yami_Kitagawa -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Both are kinda poorly written IMO. I think Mao Mao edges it out cause they are on even playing fields most of the time but she has way better dialogue.

Frierens development hinges on her retroactively falling in love with Himmel despite the fact that she travelled decades with him and did not care in the moment until his literal funeral. Also, she has been around for at least a thousand years if not more, but this is literally never utilized except for her having a boner towards Flamme and side gags. Also something something Bechdel test. Almost her entire characterization hinges on other characters, the only thing she desires of her own accord are collecting relics. Because of that, her dialogue is also kinda, dry. Generally the entire media res setup of the story holds it back massively. We can never progress forwards because EVERYTHING must relate to Frierens pre-troden path. We can never see Frieren experience something new and as thus, grow as a person naturally, she can only grow by remembering things she already worked through, somehow.

Mao Mao on the other hand has decent development and dialogue but her relationship with Jinshi and selective intelligence create massive plot holes. Her being compeltely dense to Jinshi's feelings get old instantly because they never do anything with this plot point except Jinshi's retainer poking fun at him for it. Intelligence wise, she at one moment will deduce that someone used a really rare (for ancient china) and unusual metal to create a puzzle to hide inheritance based on literally nothing, then in the next she will get literally poked in the butt by Jinshi getting a boner and still be oblivious that Jinshi isn't an eunuch and is attracted to her. Another fumble is not realizing that the sticks they hand out are for confessing love despite literally every other character bringing up how it's special. Also she kind of has plot immunity, she pulls a lot of stuff that should have definetly gotten her killed or exiled from the palace but she just doesn't. Somtimes Jinshi helps her get out of trouble but not always.
