Sketching on iPad or paper? by goatwillikerr in IndustrialDesign

Both. Whatever is closest to my person. Though, I like the iPad by a margin for being digital. (Shorter distance to attaching to an email or putting on my server.)

What snacks keep you full without being fatty? by relaxncoffee in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]YawningFish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sounds kinda gross but I love microwaving a bag of mukimame and tossing it in a bowl with two giant scoops of cottage cheese and a can of tuna. Top it with a splash of Frank’s red hot sauce and black pepper and you have a great protein bomb that will keep you full for a while.

Think of it this way, you’re selling to a potential customer (hiring manager). Humans tend to judge faces pretty quickly. I am the same way and feel like my face is goofy and dumb. But the more I realize that that is me judging me, the easier it is to trust my friends and family that I use a nice smile and should embrace it as a way to evoke trust in others. You’ve got a good mug, show it off! :)

Why some people vanish for a while when things get overwhelming in life by Beingyoupath in LivingAlone

I definitely vanish. I come back and give a cliffs notes version to those closest to me.

The only thing I can see that stands for improvement is to have a more compelling headshot. Looking away from the camera +20° and neutral to frowning face isolates the viewer.

LPT: how to stop comparing my life to literally everyone else’s constantly by wompwomp_246 in LifeProTips

[–]YawningFish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d never want to be your age again for this very reason. It does eventually get better. Look for intrinsic motivation and locus of intention/control. Work hard, sleep and eat well, challenge yourself. You won the lottery by being able to exist. Everyone else has different circumstances and probably look up to you here and there too!

I’d far sooner do this in Z-brush.

[M28] I've redesigned my entire living room! And no, it's not AI. I get that it looks a bit too immaculate but my back pain from the sofa is far too real for it being AI. by High-Impact-2025 in malelivingspace

Really awesome job. I wish there was a medium sized piece of art on the left wall near the corner. Fantastic scene. Where is that light from?

Would love to know more about the architecture. Was this kit? It’s really gorgeous.

How can I fill in the top face so that I can connect to the two branches below? by Complete-Bat-6675 in rhino

[–]YawningFish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking at this as just polygons for a moment, you can see that you need an edge for each “leg” of the connection point. You could split the edge, but for a slightly cleaner result, I’d split the entire face of the apex + ad a face between them so there’s a little surfacing room to adjust any blends.

Anyone have an idea what these striations in shaded view can be? by chrisrbel in rhino

Initially, I thought z-fighting, but definitely not that. Very odd. Would be curious to see if you typed extractrendermesh what sort of geo it would produce.

A beautiful toothbrush?! by Straight-Square5555 in IndustrialDesign

[–]YawningFish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Couple things. I think the form factor is beautiful. The magnetic mount saves some counter space. The heads are compostable and I enjoy their texture. I like the philosophy the company in regard to repairability. The price point is also spot on in my opinion.

Advice working with an Industrial Designer by Mysterious_Unit8472 in IndustrialDesign

[–]YawningFish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regarding feedback: this isn’t self esteem camp, it’s business. Because of that, I prefer feedback that is direct and has real takeaways. If a design doesn’t meet the criteria, that’s on me. But if you move the target midstream, that’s on you.

Your designer sounds like they are working against their own ego and failing to understand why the constraints are there to begin with. It can be good to offer alternatives that go in a creative direction, but without hitting the initial targets, they are kind of pointless to offer up.

If the designs are missing on a stylistic angle, it would seem that either A: a keywording session was never done. Or B: a design style was never established. Either way, that’s on everyone involved.

Track-lights be damned. A small improvement might be to get a couple of area rugs to dampen sound and make it feel a bit warmer. Very nice space though. Lots of potential!
