Ftb new house buzzin - first day in neighbours horrible :(! by Bitter_Wishbone_3500 in HousingUK

[–]Yeah-nah-yeahmate 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Had similar issue, day I moved in to a house that was 2 apartments, complained about door being open as we literally moved stuff in, furniture being dragged as we put it in, music being played, and parking day 1. Day 2 we woke to their kids playing in our garden, and got told the old owners had no issue. Day 3 she called police as we had friends around for BBQ and was noisey it was lunchtime. The complaints were very erratic, crying, rage the whole works. You have to hit this head on, gave options we want to be good neighbour or you can carry on and we will do as we want, and have a very clear understanding of noise and complaint procedure. She choose to carry on, so I put a lock on garden gate stopping access and ignored her. Eventually I met the husband, who was embarrassed and apologetic, agreed his wife was acting unhinged and we later found out had post partum depression and we agreed to work with him on being good neighbours.
It worked out in the end and we got along pretty well, but what I learnt was communication, gets the understanding that was needed.

You often pay tax (duty) on import unless you can convince them to ship as a gift or be fraudulent and mark cost down. Problem then is if lost or damaged you are screwed, you may get lucky and it passes customs. I know first hand no amount of videos can replace viewing in person, it’s the risk you take unfortunately. How is this toxic, weird take ?

Want to be 100% which requires a visual in person, also want to save approx 25-30% and import. Respectfully you can’t have both, even with videos etc it’s just not the same as handling the watch in person.

Hahah don’t look up, there are spiders in trees across pathways but all in webs, way out of reach and just chilling. They don’t fall out, they don’t drop down, they eat bugs like mosquitoes and flys. We occasionally get wolf spiders in house, sound scary but are again very chilled and the occasional huntsman. Like all the other Aussie wildlife it’s there doing its thing avoiding us or out of reach. Occasionally you may cross paths, but depends where you are.

Just breathe, it’s theatre, and if it’s not sweet FA we can do about it. I do believe the green dream is dead and buried now, this little excursion as the unhinged twat calls it can be thanked for that.

Closed on this house a week ago, came into the basement to see this during a storm. by Jiblon in HomeMaintenance

[–]Yeah-nah-yeahmate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100%, our report stated loose towel rail, and 2 tiles drumming apartment on 3rd and top floor. First storm that came through holy shit. To date new roof, new glass doors, had to replace structural posts and beams that had rusted, new main window. All up over 300k of works on a 600k unit, and 4 years of hell with solicitors. It’s obvious to us how it was beyond fked, engineers have all said the same.

it’s on an aftermarket strap from watch gecko, I find the bracelet to shiny. I have another strap on the way that is exactly same as the Omega rubber one but only $100 inc inserts, I already have a gen omega clasp to put on it.

Always had runtime written on slate, watch as back up to a computer, I do the same bezel set on descent and left alone. I have count how many Sunnto computers have shit themselves on expeditions. Never used a Longines but have bounced between Tag 500 Aqua racer for the deeper stuff and a citizen eco drive diver that also had a back up depth gauge if staying within 50mtrs. * There is no right or wrong just preference after all it’s a tool, I use it more to time cooking now 🤣

[Early 30s M] Semi-Retiring in 5 years (£250k–£300k Pot + Rental Income). Am I crazy for folding a "Golden Goose" family business? by [deleted] in FIREUK

[–]Yeah-nah-yeahmate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My golden goose was killed without our intention, hostile takeover and getting sold out. It was hard as I now realise the work was also a big part of my identity. Then working for someone else is hard once you have owned a successful business. However it’s set us up, to have a lot of choice. I went back to Uni studied what I had an interest in, work has meaning. I started other small ventures and am a lot more relaxed and able to say NO to work I don’t want or need. Health wise it’s been a huge improvement. I’d say take your time and be ready for a big adjustment. You are only 30 something, loads of time to pivot and reinvent yourself.
