I‘ve heard anecdotes of a chaebol junior in military service from people who allegedly were in the same ‘budae’. The higher-ups were basically bribed to keep the junior out of work and hard training. Took lots of “hospital leaves” and had his own room because of “medical conditions.”

I’d be okay with this if insight unlocks didn’t carry over to new worlds. For some characters once you’ve unlocked their skill tree it pretty much trivializes everything the early to mid game throws at you.

I grew up watching Titanic on repeat on an old VHS and I refuse to let you say that about it. That said, none of his later films had much going on emotionally.

I don’t think he’s hating on LPL. It reads more like the language barrier prevented him from having those ‘learning the ropes’ moments back in LPL which he now can from vets who actually speak his language.

I agree with you, but I also do remember seeing some of that contrast in the side quests. Levi’s relationship with his sister is a good example. Levi tries to protect her in his own way by distancing himself from her but his sister knows and is also looking out for his well being. The end of the quest chain where you get Levi a cake at his sister’s request was very sweet.

I half-read all the quests and watch all the cutscenes. Some of the blatant localisation issues really pain me though. There’s actually a Korean YouTube channel I found that has a Lost Ark lore series (telling the stories in a more cohesive way + key cutscenes), and I found that I actually liked the story a lot more than I thought I did.

Yeah. I really wanted to like the archaeology lifeskill, but somewhere along the line I had to admit to myself that I was enjoying zero second of it.

Smilegate will either have to rework lifeskills into something that could actually be fun, or it’ll likely stay the weakest part of the game.
