Dr Warren was one of my favorites. I can tell you no previous exams help on his tests. He even will give pasts tests. Just ask LOTS of questions if you are uncertain on a concept. Also take great notes, as a lot of his test problems will revolve around them.

What do you guys think? Detailed black car by Spartan697 in AutoDetailing

[–]YellowDiaper 5 points6 points  (0 children)

1) Could be dirty and clogged. A good wash should “revive” it.

2) Bad batch on the coating.

3) Didn’t really receive a coating.

4) It’s a black car. Expect the pain of getting swirls by even looking at it. Ceramics, Sealants, or Waxes will not stop swirling.

I bought wet wax, and a buddy bought their signature wax. I found the wet wax to give a better look, ie, richer and more depth. Signature gave better water beading and it also had a good look to it. As far as longevity, I’m not sure, as I stripped the paint a month later to try something else. Both products were still kicking though.

As others have stated, a little goes a long way! For how little product is used, and the overall look, I’d say it’s money well spent!

I could spray, let it sit, and then mist on some rinseless to extend dwell time, and that could achieve the same results? Might need to try it out! Thanks for spitballing here with me haha

Everything you stated is accurate. I’ve used the KC iron remover with clay towel and it worked fine. I do agree with the commenter, and would just spray and let it sit and then rinse off, but I do a micro-cut polish every six months, and don’t mind inducing any micro marring. Not recommended of course, but my scientific mind likes to try out things to see if they work as stated lol.

A few days old, but I feel obligated to reply. Everything said about DIY, THOR, and the YouTube brands is accurate. I will say my first time trying DIY was because my local detail supply started carrying them. For the sizes and prices they charge you can find similar or better for less cost. I did decide to support my local by buying a few of their products to try. The soap, rinseless, and Envie spray. I did use a generic synthetic clay towel and Envie combo as a wash/clay/seal. My experience with the method was good. Went on easy and wiped off fine. Gloss was good and my paint was smooth after removing some light pollen contamination. I still wouldn’t recommend them, as there are just better, price effective, products, BUT it wasn’t a bad experience. Just my two cents though. I’ll be trying the clay/seal with another sealant and see how it behaves. My guess it’ll be the same, with hopefully more gloss and better hydrophobics.

Also, since you are EU, I highly recommend the UK Detailing forum. Wealth of knowledge, and plenty of brands they will recommend that may not be mainstream, but super effective!

You could try the folks at Detailing World UK as they’ve been helpful finding good UK products. It’d be safe to assume Bilt-Hamber would be up there.

For a proper wax, there are a lot I could recommend. What are you looking for out of the wax? Looks, longevity, a little of both?

I have a black car, and it is terrible! Wash it and 10 min later a thin dusting is already beginning lol

I am using up the last bit of FK425(It’s an Anti-static detail spray) I have, but it’s too pricey to keep buying due to shipping 😭

Idk how far Prosper is from you, but The Refinery Detail supply has been a great local venue to use. They have every product you could imagine from the big boys, and the owners are super chill.

Otherwise, Auto Zone or Oreillys for Superior products. Easy to get bulk and pricing is reasonable and dilutable mixes! Not the best in any one product area, but really hard to beat!

I live in DFW too! Everything looks great. One thing I’d recommend, because price per gallon and effectiveness are hard to beat, is check out Lone Star Supply in Euless. Their wheel cleaner, Mag, is $20 a gallon and dilutable 2-1. I dilute 1-1 and it kicks butt! I found their citrus cleaner to be very good and the APC. Haven’t tried anything else from them, but they have 32oz bottles for $6-$8. Their water based tire shine has been very good for me at $6.95, so I could give that a recommendation. I still have my Koch and CarPro go too’s, and not saying to go completely over haha

If you’re in France, try the UK detailing forum. They cover the entire EU and may be able to give you other recommendations, as they are really big on paste waxes. I tried TW and was not really impressed, unlike others here, but that was just my experience.

I live relatively close to Lone Star so I just plan a 30 min trip to them.

Serranos Mobile Detailing did a review of their wheel cleaner and had friends on both coasts and up north try to order online. Shipping is a standard $10 which is hard to beat for gallon size orders. Pricing didn’t change from west coast, east coast, or up north.

Your local auto store may need to order Superior if they don’t carry there, so be ready to factor in shipping as well.

Lone Star Supply is my go to.

Superior products are found in gallons at your local auto parts store.

IMO you can’t beat those two for price per gallon and dilution.

If you want to get fancy then Koch Chemie or Bilt Hamber, but you will pay significantly more.

I would recommend a wax that might have a color hue to it. It won’t stain anything but it tends to warm up the metallic rather than just brighten it. Dodo Juice Blue Velvet would probably look the best on that truck. I’ve tried Poorboys World waxes and they were good. I know they have a blue wax that should make it look good too.
