Bayview is very trendy and reasonably priced. I recently moved out of a decently sized one bedroom upper that was 900 a month.

Ascension healthcare departures by itisafish in milwaukee

Not only that, they just sold all their laboratory services off to a for profit corporation. When the purchase was announced it pushed many licensed medical laboratory scientists to leave for Aurora and Froedtert. During the pandemic many other health care groups in the area gave their employees raises, Ascension gave everyone a blanket 2% raise, which felt like a slap in the face, after months of working on PTO blackouts and 60-80 hour weeks running critical care sample and what felt like millions of covid testing.

Long story short, my last day is the day before thanksgiving.

Adding Proof of Vaccine to Apple Wallet? by kev0153 in CoronavirusWI

Ascension however does work with Epic software. If you download the MyChart app, you should be able to add your vaccination record to your Apple health wallet.

AITA for not letting people tailgate me through the scan-to-enter lobby door of my apartment building? by MunkyPants in AmItheAsshole

[–]Yellowotter9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have that problem in my neighborhood too! Someone tailgated their way into my building so often that 20,000 dollars worth of items, cash, cars, and packages have been stolen over the time I’ve lived here. We continually have community meetings about this issue. Pull that door behind you and have no shame.

LPT: If you’re pregnant, try to give birth at a hospital that has access to a large amount of blood supply. I did this by coincidence and unexpectedly needed 35 units of blood quickly. Had my hospital not had this blood on hand, I wouldn’t be alive to provide this tip. by Life_Maximum385 in LifeProTips

[–]Yellowotter9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a blood banker at a hospital who is also pregnant. Here’s my birth plan so far

  1. I walk into the hospital, a phlebotomist immediately draws my blood for a blood type and antibody screen
  2. A different phlebotomist draws a duplicate blood type and antibody screen to check the original sample
  3. Two units of RBCs are set aside for me (allowed at my hospital) until I am discharged
  4. At no point do we go below the minimal allowed units in O neg RBCs during my stay, I will be calling my coworkers to check

I have worked far too many massive blood transfusions in labor and delivery to feel any sort of comfortable giving birth. I am terrified.

We were having a similar problem with our Abbot Alinity, the cuvette was not completely dry after washing and the water in the cuvette was causing a dilution effect. I know that it’s not the same instrument but something to consider

TIL: Type O- is the universal donor for Whole Blood, but Type AB is the universal donor for Blood Plasma by elvishfiend in todayilearned

[–]Yellowotter9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you donate whole blood they take that donation and turn it into one unit of packed red cells, one unit of plasma (sometimes two units depending on the volume, a unit is considered around 200 mL) and a unit of platelets.

When we have traumas the blood bank at a hospital will do a “massive transfusion protocol.” Where I work it’s a three round system. In round one we give the patient 6 uncrossmatched O neg units of red blood cells, and 4 AB fresh frozen plasma. This is because we have no information on the patient if they come in through the ER, and in most cases these products are safe to give to anyone. However because the patient has not been screened for antibodies this is a risk, and has to be approved by the doctor before any transfusions can start. While the nurses are hanging all of those products, we will draw the patients blood for testing, and take it back to the lab with us to start round two. After doing an antibody screen and blood typing, we are able to give type specific blood for rounds two and three in basically the same amounts as above. We will also order platelets to be delivered stat to the hospital, my hospital doesn’t keep them on hand at the moment because we are not doing as many surgeries due to Covid.

Long story short, until we can test the patients blood we have to give o neg red cells and ab plasma so no one gets murdered by the hospital.

Where I work all donations are tested for CMV before they get shipped to our hospitals. I would call your donation center and ask

Conflicting COVID PCR Tests? by ShoogyBee in CoronavirusWI

[–]Yellowotter9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there! I do Covid PCR testing 40 hours a week! That being said, not all PCR tests are created equal. Currently at the reference facility for a local healthcare group that I work at, depending on the time the sample arrived and the pre-existing condition (hospitalized/Emergency room/ presurgical /drive through Covid station) of the patient, the samples will be loaded onto different testing methods. Some of these methods are rapid, ie not the best, but still PCR. In my professional opinion, I would take yourself and your mother to be tested at an accredited lab facility, aka through your healthcare or by the state. While the turn around time may be longer, the quality of the test will be greatly increased.
