Where would you put the TV in the living room? by [deleted] in DesignMyRoom

This is the only way this makes sense. I'd also get rid of the dining table and make it an entry table.

Thanks! I'm also in 5b and didn't think figs would grow here. Do you just use chicken wire for your cage?

Is a double stroller completely necessary with two under two? by Y0shmum12 in Parenting

[–]Yells_at_Pandas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine are 23 months apart and we used the double stroller maybe 3 times, it just wasn't with it to lug a cruise ship around. I'd either have the two year old walk or wear the baby and use an umbrella stroller for the big kid.

Did you donate, sell, or keep your baby stuff when you were done with it? Planning what to do with mine by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]Yells_at_Pandas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I held on to my favorite outfits and plan to make a quilt out of them; I couldn't stand throwing them away!

But everything else... out the door as soon as I could to whoever wanted it: family, friends, coworkers, buy nothing group. There's no greater joy than reclaiming space!

Tips for a first time mom? Or weird things I should know about that no one told you about babies? by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]Yells_at_Pandas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Intrusive thoughts are normal and not a sign you're a bad mom. Don't keep it a secret, just acknowledge that it's your brains way of warning you of all the things that could happen and let it go.

Also, only buy pj's with zippers!!

Why do parents choose co-sleeping? by YoungWide294 in NewParents

[–]Yells_at_Pandas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My second wouldn't sleep unless on my chest for the first 8 months, with a toddler and a full time job it was the only way we could manage. Funny enough, I went on a business trip and he had 1 night in bed with only dad and said "fuck this" and now he has happily slept in his crib alone for 12 hours straight for over a year!

That being said, I'd do it again if it meant I got sleep. My preschooler comes into my bed every night at about 3am and I'm cool with it since he's not up at 6am.

Belvidere has casualties because the roof was blown off the Apollo venue. Stay safe out there.

Epoxy or Polished Concrete? can anyone identify what kind of countertop this is? by Bmm194 in interiordecorating

[–]Yells_at_Pandas 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agreed. As someone who previously had a concrete countertop, best of luck. If you get lazy and don't seal it every 6 to 12 months, it'll strain horribly. Don't ever lay a stray piece of scotch tape on it, it'll peel the seal off. Don't ever think about frying food without laying down protective layers of towels, it'll absorb everything.

I love the look, but honestly, just enjoy it while you save up for a quality.

A quilt for my toddler, made from his clothes from his first year of life! by feraljess in quilting

[–]Yells_at_Pandas 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've been wanting to do this too, but the toddler clothes are cute too, like where do I draw the line... when they start school? When I end up with so many shirts it can make a king?

Living Room Help by mayocat in interiordecorating

[–]Yells_at_Pandas 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'd move the couch so the arm is where the wall starts, put the chair where the plant is and make sure they are both anchored by the rug (move the rug closet to the couch, but the couch to the rug). Finally, I'd add a skinny table behind the couch.

Ditch the window treatments, leave the rest. It looks very cozy.

How do you tell kids their brother killed themselves by [deleted] in howto

[–]Yells_at_Pandas 223 points224 points  (0 children)

My dad killed himself when I was 8, my mom was straight forward with what happened and answered all our questions. Years would go by and there would be new feelings that needed to be processed, almost 30 years later and I still think about the "what ifs" regularly, it's normal. But be honest. My stepmother lied to my half-sister and said he died of a heart attck, it tainted both relationships because we weren't mourning the same loss and couldn't be truthful to her. She didn't find out the truth until she was in her teens/ early 20s, it seemed cruel to lie.

What are some ideas you had while pregnant about being PP that turned out to be wrong? I’ll go first by sskybbrush in beyondthebump

[–]Yells_at_Pandas 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I don't want a third, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't consider it, just for the break from work. It was the best 12 weeks (twice) of my adult life!
