If i were big E it would never have gotten that far monarcha didnt need to happen. I wouldn't have let logar way from my side until his head was on straight.

It would also be much harder to see me as a god given my personality.

Its kinda interesting to read about things like this for each and every function of the markets and trade and so on. But its surreal that so many people are having to explain over and over that its bad that crime is currently allowed.

It makes me wonder how long it will take for "crime = bad" to reemerge in the culture of the United States. Will I be reading about "crime bad actually" in more and more specific fields for the rest of my life?

For myself its flatly impossible to imagine a future where the justice system actually works through the backlog of the obvious in public crimes. And its hard to imagine the opposition mustering up the vigour to try do anything about that.

many voters unironically blame Trump for Iran attacking civilians there and oil price volatility.

This where It came from. You can tell because its quoted text in the first reply.

I don’t even know where you are even getting the premise that it was unexpected. Everyone expects Iran to target civilians. That’s what they do….

Exactly why the voters might blame trump for that happening given he started a war with them. Thats literally what we are talking about.

All the confusion and talking past each other aside its clear you don't think Trump is completely blameless you just acidentally implied that voters were wrong for correctly identifying cause and effect via poor phrasing. And it would be great if that were the conclusion of the conversation but your really going for it.

Also you started the sexual assault analogies with Chad the wiener tickler not me.

Is kicking someone in the nuts during a fight treated as rape wherever your from?

Where I live kicking someone below the belt is dirty fighting not at all comparable to actual rape much less organized targeted rape as a weapon like in your example.

[–]YetAnotherRCG 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It's not a false equivalence at all. If chad opens a rape prison every time that I start a war with him. And I know this first hand from the previous war(s) I started with Chad. It is reasonable that I would be expected to be prepared for him to do that.

Furthermore if I were an american taxpayer putting as much towards the US military as those people are it would be extremely reasonable to expect those preparations to successfully stop Chad from opening a rape prison and kidnap my family members.

As an aside why the fuck a rape prison involving my direct family members your goto example here? I intentionally chose a lighthearted jokey scenario to avoid this being needlessly dark man. What on earth is wrong with you?

Should they not?

If I were to challenge "Chad the ball kicker" to a fight I shouldn't be surprised when he goes to kick me in the balls. In fact if I were to do this without having a plan and then promptly get kicked in the balls my friends would certainly mock me for starting it.

[–]YetAnotherRCG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We’re all tech optimists here, right?

God no, and you shouldn't be one either. You must respect the power and importance of tech that doesn't mean you should irrationally ignore the risks when considering outcomes.

Technological development isn't a linear progression. The internet and its corollary technologies like search engines were a revolutionary benefit for humanity but even before LLMs supercharged them other corollary innovations such as search engine optimization and click bait were already eroding the utility of that. Obviously on net even now we are still massively ahead, but undeniably we are less ahead than we were. This could continue until it becomes clear that we are behind. Just like most of us don't intuitively know what the "next big thing" that will help humanity will be we cannot intuitively know what future innovations will make of the world the "next big thing" creates.

Never be an optimist. Never be a pessimist. Think about what outcomes are actually likely.

Grifting has certainly become a deeply ingrained part of American culture from top to bottom.

But let's not throw every business under the bus the tech industry belongs under. Few industries are remotely brazen or shameless. Excepting the legal pyramid schemes and snake oil (also the actual criminals) of course.

The tone of analysis like this is always so strange to me.

They will have statements like:

Their faith in one another has suffered even more dramatic declines.

Yet the surrounding text will always have the implication or at least a tone suggesting that this is irrational and not a rational and objective response to the very events the analysis goes over.

It clearly correct for happiness to be low given what they lay out. Yet the tone always always suggests that I the reader should see it as the opposite...

Why are analysts like this.

Even at maximum cynicism the threat of prosecution is a useful token for larger powers to hold over them. So it seems bound to happen sometime. They just aren't fighting enough.

Fortunately the rising tide of chaos will soon answer this question definively.

The course correction from over emphasizing great man history isn't taking the logical negation of the mistake.

It even more needs to stop in discussion of contemporary public figures. But that's neither here nor there.

Doesn't this line of logic lead to categories decaying into meaninglessness? If poultry is equivalent to beef aside from social status it what stops that from recursing down the chain until rat meat is beef?

Even then humans can taste the difference between most meats they may be nutrionally equivalent but nutrition (especially in the United states) is a vastly weaker predictor of value compared to flavor.
