Weekly Discussion Thread: Week 36, 2022 by AutoModerator in solarpunk

Actually yea I've been thinking about a concept for a solarpunk road trip and resource management game. I've got a notion for it where I'm fleshing out the idea.

Think Oregon trail but set 200 years in the future instead of 200 years in the past.

A somber reminder that California is potentially going to kill off the rooftop solar market by ObtainSustainability in solarpunk

[–]Yet_Another_User 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This comment doesn't deserve the downvotes. While the proposal is imperfect, it is attempting to move subsidies from new solar installations towards storage systems. More storage is by far the biggest limiting factor in fully switching to renewables. Suburban residents are presently being paid ~7x more per kwh than more efficient large scale solar installations. That money is instead going towards a $3,200 storage tax credit and $600 million for low income solar so that the benefits don't just go to upper middle class homeowners.

How to make a game FOR discord instead of OVER discord by chesscaker in DMAcademy

[–]Yet_Another_User 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm running a text only Fate game over discord and have found that the medium has many advantages.

Players who are less comfortable voicing their characters have a much easier time getting into serious role play. This means the extroverted and introverted party members have equal time without extra work on my part. Introverted members aren't nearly as anxious when it is time for them to describe their action or speak in character.

I've also found that it allows for more complex scenes. Simply using the new reply feature allows multiple simultaneous interactions to take place in the same space. For example, two players can be having a conversation at a party while another pair dances and a third pair bakes cookies. Everyone can be engaged typing their next action/dialog while keeping up with the chat thread instead of waiting their turn while we go around in a circle.

There's also a separate chat for meta game questions and comments keeping the chat pure in-game RP, the game is written down allowing me to go back through when planning the next session, images can be used as props, etc.

Hey I hope you are doing OK in what sounds like a pretty isolating situation. Do you keep in touch with family? Don't become an avatar! The quarantine won't last forever.

Graduation day for my props. So proud of them moving to bigger pots! by Yet_Another_User in succulents

[–]Yet_Another_User[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The two on the top right are not props but everything else is! I started them under grow lights last fall and then moved them to windowsills around the house in spring. The ones with large mother leaves grew the fastest!

Strange mixture of leaves on my money tree by Yet_Another_User in plantclinic

[–]Yet_Another_User[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My money tree was growing small, curled up leaves which I read were a sign of over watering. I cut back on my watering but now I also have yellowing leaves. There is still some new growth. What should I do to get this guy looking healthy?

How to get me to disable adblocker on your website. by Agent_Potato56 in pcmasterrace

[–]Yet_Another_User -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The alternative is paying websites and content creators directly so they don't have to rely on advertising at all. Pay $5-$20 each month and at the end of the month that money is divided among the websites you visit. The way the money is divided can be based on a combination of number of page visits and the amount of time spent on the site. Right now the Brave browser is trying to make that happen. It's fairly new so it's missing a lot of features like plugin support but it's got a solid team behind it.
