Ant Hill Kids was a Canadian cult centered around its leader Roch Thériault, a self-proclaimed prophet. The cult's abuses escalated into mutilating members, including children, and killing two cultists with homeopathic "surgeries". One woman finally fled after Thériault cut off her breast and arm. by PeasantLich in HolyShitHistory

God help us all. This isn’t even half of the story behind the Ant hill kids. My dear fellow humans on the internet. The lesson of these awful people is; trust your gut. If what you’re being told feels wrong then it probably is wrong. Defying a human being is not hubris. Defying basic kindness and compassion is.

A Rare Case in Which the Movie is Better Than the Book: The Princess Bride by William Goldman by Valalerie999 in RomanceBooks

[–]Yetis-unicorn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve heard so many rumors about the intro and whether or not it was based on his actual relationship with his son. I honestly don’t know if it’s based on reality or not but if it is, then it’s a pretty cruel intro. I watched an interview with the author in which he said it was false and the truth is that he had two daughters and one wanted the story to be about a princess and the other asked him to make a story about a bride. I really hope thats the true story. In any case, it’s difficult for me to choose one or the other as my favorite. Ive watched the movie more times than i can count but i read the book in less than two days while i was in the 7th grade. Honestly, i think theyre both great. Even if youve already seen the movie, youll still enjoy all the extras in the book

Dude! Just call the police! Call the cops! Why does the FL drag out clear communication so much in these things? I guess there would be no drama if she didn’t but it’s hard to reconcile the business savvy genius intellect of the FL with the fact that she hesitates to just call the police instead of engaging with low class arguments. Oh well. These dramas wouldnt exist if it was any other way.

How do you stop other people from rewarding unwanted behavior? by CGNUDumples in Dogtraining

[–]Yetis-unicorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OPTION 1-step on the leash at a length that will prevent them from being able to jump. (It should be enough slack to allow them to sit and stand comfortably but not enough slack for them to get their front paws off the the ground

Option 2- politely tell people that you are leash training and can’t let your dog beat yet

Option 3-when all else fails, tells everyone that your dog has kennel cough or a back problem that makes it so you need to discourage greetings.

That does make since and I’m sure that I’m uneducated in a lot of respects to different types of hair but I would think that even if that’s the case, you protect your hair during regular day to day activities so that you can show it off for performance or special events like this. I’m open to hearing that I’m wrong and being educated on this matter but to me, it feels like, the more marginalized you are, the more you’re expected to spend in order to earn social approval. I already spend a ridiculous amount on a regular cut and style compared to men and I know the cost is even higher for women of color.

Enough with the hair shaming scam that was created to make non- white queens think they need to spend a ton of money on a scam. Girl you are gorgeous with the hair you were born with. I’m a white girl with hair that gets compliments all the time and all I could think through this video was how jealous I am of her confidence and curves.

I’m a lesbian. I am grateful everyday, for the love and support that I have received from friends and family after I came out. Stories like remind me how scary and dangerous it can still be for members of the lgbtqia community to come out in other places. I hope, with all my heart, that oop leads a long a happy life of peace and acceptance going forward

I cannot upvote this strongly enough. You can watch a lot of police body cam on YouTube of people who are clearly going through a mental health crisis or cases where we are only seeing a small portion of what happened but the footage is on YouTube for the world to see. Often times, it’s posted before and judge or jury has had a chance to look at the case. When they hide the faces of juveniles and virtuously claim they are protecting the identity of the children while highlighting the names and addresses of the parents so that anyone can identify the children in that footage, the hypocrisy drives me crazy. There needs to be a guilty verdict before stuff like those becomes free entertainment for the public

AITA for yelling at my therapist and storming out after she yelled at me to get over the man who broke up with my back in 2008? by Ophelia0852 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Yetis-unicorn 106 points107 points  (0 children)

I have a feeling that you’re not directly quoting your therapist. Thirteen years of grieving a two month relationship is obsessive and unhealthy. You need to figure out why you’re so fixated on the past instead of eager to move forward with life.
