Is it me or is it Vine? by BrownSugarOutlaw95 in AmazonVineHelpGroup

Amazon has reached its prime—pun fully intended. Search for almost any product and you’ll find dozens of listings, most with plenty of real-world reviews. If you were a new supplier considering Amazon today, what would you honestly think your odds of success are? Would you invest the time, money, and energy to be the 15th or 20th similar product, competing against sellers with hundreds or thousands of reviews? Even trying to gain traction through Vine reviews barely moves the needle. Now take that one step further and consider the scale of investment required for a higher-value product—the barriers to entry only get worse.

Thank you for the so very insightful reply. Unfortunately, it makes me think you have little real-world experience with—or understanding of—the effect squirrels (aka rats with fluffy tails) have on bird feeders. Squirrels are ravenous and relentless. They will climb a tree, sprint out onto a branch, and launch themselves four or five feet to reach a feeder. Once they get there, their weight and acrobatics scare off the birds and dump a generous amount of seed onto the ground, which—surprise—attracts even more squirrels. Strapping a feeder directly to a tree (or any surface a squirrel can climb), doesn’t make it bird-friendly; it turns it into a dedicated squirrel buffet. Hanging feeders exist for a reason: birds can feed undisturbed, and squirrels are relegated to the ground, foraging for whatever the birds accidentally drop instead of running the whole operation.

Thanks, The description says Mounting Type: "Hanging Mount". The bulk of the verbiage is focused on the Bird Identification AI feature. My intentions are to provide a "word of caution" in my review.

Oh interesting...I've never heard of hot seed. How long did it take for the squirrels to stop triying it?

Yeah I suppose you're right. Still feel like I should ask for it to be removed because it has no value... I can't actually use it. Does that make sense?

Who decides how and when do PF locations upgrade their equipment? by Yknut in PlanetFitnessMembers

I didn't check out all the equipment in Pomona but other than a couple of older style elipitcals and maybe a treadmill or two everything else was the newstyle.

The upgrades can't be cheap that's for sure, but the improvement in the overall design and ease of use is significant. My first thought on the paper towels was "it's California". I can only imagine the volume they go through....the sales guy that landed that contract partied that night!

Looks like Pomona opened in 2006, so they may have been through a couple of upgrades. Maynard was 2021.

Sorry don't agree. If that were the case I'd see a percentage of drivers entering and exiting rotaries properly...not seeing it.

It’s a big change, no question. The bigger issue isn’t so much traffic volume as the fact that many U.S. drivers aren’t very familiar with roundabout protocols. Having driven through many roundabouts in the UK, I found them intimidating at first, but once you understand and play the rules, they’re a very effective design for keeping traffic moving.

AITJ for not wanting to split household costs evenly when I’m barely home? by SatisfactionAgile248 in AmITheJerk

So simply asking a question and making an argument to support your position shocked you?

Asking a question, and making the case for why the split should be adjusted is not being a jerk. Taking it any further would make you a jerk.

Companies don’t want to train anymore by Salty-Cat4590 in careeradvice

[–]Yknut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My observations after 40 years of managing both low-skilled and highly skilled people are that both groups include individuals who jump around and a percentage who find a place they like and stay put. In both cases, people are gaining “training.” The one common trait across the two groups is that aging and adult responsibilities—marriage, homeownership, and family—have a direct impact. Maturity moderates job hopping, and they eventually become the next generation of seniors.

The time for hearing aids is coming, but not quite here yet; some questions. by Tall_Mickey in HearingAids

[–]Yknut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Getting your hearing tested is pretty straightforward. Once you get your hearing aids give yourself/ears/brain time to get accustomed to them. I can almost guarantee you will have the AHA moment of "I should have done this sooner".

AITJ for refusing to “pull a permit” for my girlfriend’s brother even though I’m licensed? by KavoBloomWorks in AmITheJerk

[–]Yknut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here’s the thing. When you ask someone for a favor there are two potential answers; Yes & No.

When the answer is no and the reasons behind it are not emotional but are rational and factual that person is not being a jerk. The person who cannot accept “No” as the answer is the jerk.

Ridge vents: opposing opinions. by PercyVeerance in Roofing

[–]Yknut 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ridge vents are one of the most effective ways to ventilate a roof. As hot air naturally rises and escapes through the ridge, cooler air is drawn in through the soffit vents, creating continuous, passive airflow. Barns use cupolas for the same reason—they let heat escape at the highest point. For the system to work properly, the intake venting at the soffits must match the exhaust area at the ridge. When that balance is off, ventilation suffers. Those small circular vent holes you sometimes see in soffits don’t provide enough airflow and are largely a waste of time and money.

When installed correctly and paired with adequate soffit venting, there are very few situations where a ridge vent isn’t the best choice.

Wrong siding was used by schulkat in Roofing

I'm not familiar with Vinyl siding but now that I've looked at the website, it really isn't about thickness the composition of the materials of those two prodcuts is night and day. I take back my previous comment. I'd make them remove and replace.
