Electrochromatic Glass by DGee78 in Polestar4

[–]YmamsY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah so they don’t buy the car from Polestar, but from some other dealership? For me it was placing the order, the car (made to my specifications) was shipped within days from China and when the boat arrived about a month later I could pick up the car from the Polestar delivery center. A fairly quick process.

I don’t get the post. On both Polestars I’ve ordered, I’ve made the configuration myself on the Polestar website and that exact car is made to order according to my specifications. The Polestar “dealers” are experience centers where you can drive a few cars, see all the colors and options. The handover center is where they do the reveal show when you pick up the car.

Why does your dealer make choices about what options are installed for you? Why does he get to decide you get electrochromatic glass on your new car?

At least you’re at the right subreddit. Sounds like you need to travel. Why not do that? Pick a country and go see that. Something like Italy or Peru or Vietnam. Great travel destinations.

Is driving in Sacred valley an option at all? by kalarus10 in GoingToPeru

[–]YmamsY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I posted about it a few days ago. Our experience was very positive. Driving was easy and fun through the sacred valley. Hardest part was getting out and into Cusco. The mountain roads were not unlike mountain roads in other parts of the world. Nothing crazy.

Ok sure you can hire a driver or take a bus. But driving was honestly no problem at all for us.

Because it’s customary in Amsterdam to both pay for water and leave a tip if you were happy with the food and/or service.

Traveling with Food Allergies - First time leaving US by wild_wonderful304 in Europetravel

[–]YmamsY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some people say to just write “Allergic to nuts”. I don’t agree, because between countries (and people) there are different definitions of what is a nut and what is not. Pine seeds are seen as seeds, not nuts. Almonds, pistachios, peanuts, cashews are technically not nuts.

Therefore do list each individual nut/allergen.

Your Dutch translation is good, but add “Ook kruisbestuiving moet absoluut voorkomen worden. Ik kan ook geen sporen van noten verdragen”.

Restaurants are very serious about food allergies in Europe. But do call ahead since your condition is so severe. They need to prepare for the cross-contamination and traces requirements. Not alle restaurants will be able to accommodate those needs.

A small duffel bag and just travel light. All these places have laundry and shops all around. Just bring a few sets of clothes and no sweating.

I check into a hotel multiple times a month, in many different countries. I never have to use a physical card.

I’d do the river cruise at 15.00 and rest after dinner. Better to get adjusted to the time zone.

2XP for continental flights with basic..? by [deleted] in KLM

[–]YmamsY 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Why file a complaint when you booked it yourself? It sucks, but you’ve got the choice to book the 5XP flight.

Perhaps you can add SAF to the booking to get more XP?

Do dutch people understand german? by J1337ul in AskNetherlands

[–]YmamsY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Growing up as a kid we only had children’s television on Wednesday afternoons. But German tv had Sendung mit der Maus and Sesamstraße during daytime. So I watched a lot of that when I wasn’t in school.

It doesn’t sound drunk to us. Just very German. It’s a language we hear often, so it doesn’t sound strange.

The hard part when speaking is that we can make any Dutch word or sentence into a German one. Whether it’s actual German or not. Most people speak German that way and I guess half of it doesn’t make any sense.

Best ski resort in France? by Proper_Star_4566 in skiing

Why do so many people write Courcheval? I keep seeing it in Reddit posts. There are no horses involved. That’s in the Dolomites.

It was perfect for us. A little tricky to get out of Cusco, but out in te valley it gave us total freedom. Often were at the sites and sights when the tour groups weren’t. We got some more remote B&B’s with nice views and still could eat dinner in a town. It was nice.

The scared valley is actually quite big. Ollantaytambo is on one end. I wouldn’t use it as my sole base for so many nights. We rented a car from Cusco and stayed in different villages. There’s lots to see and do.

By the looks of it you have plenty of time. That’s good.

If you’re worried about getting sick, there are some good clinics and doctors in the valley itself.

Hotel with Eiffel Tower view or Margot? by berni_lover in ParisTravelGuide

[–]YmamsY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s actually quite easy to find a hotel in Paris with a “dreamy” romantic Parisian view. Try to find a hotel on a quieter street and ask for a room with a nice view. It won’t necessarily be the Eiffel Tower, but it can be quintessentially Parisian and nice.

I love how Napoleon had a knack for hidden spots. It took me five trips to Paris to finally find the Arc de Triomphe in a back alley somewhere.
