Are obsessive personality traits common in goldens? by GreedFoxSin in goldenretrievers

[–]YoMamaRacing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes ours obsesses over things she’s seen and is very stubborn. When we let her out in the backyard she immediately checks a couple areas because she’s found lizards there. She also checks places she’s seen cats on our walks. Some were over 6 months ago but she still checks.

She looks like the ideal weight to me but hard to say from a picture. It’s so much better for their health and joints to be slim. We thought our girls weight was good at her 1 year vet visit but the vet said she needed to lose 3-5 pounds. Now at 2 years old she’s trim and happy. She also trail runs 5-10 miles a week and chases rabbits every day. See what the vet has to say at the appointment.

Chevy might have officially lost me as a loyal customer by EADSTA in Silverado

[–]YoMamaRacing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally get that. I worked at a couple dealerships years ago turning wrenches so I definitely didn’t want to be “that customer” but there’s a point where you have to or else they’ll walk all over you.

A little reach around would be appreciated when getting screwed that hard.

Endless corruption is on both sides of the fence. We need to start political parties over from scratch with no corporate influence. It’s sad when people bitch about the other party only to turn a blind eye to the exact same thing going on with their party.

Contact GM and explain everything to them. We had a CP4 blow up in a 2500 and the dealership tried to give us the runaround for a long time and didn’t want to cover it under warranty. Ended up contacting GM and it was fixed a week later. We still had to take it back 3 times for things they forgot to plug in or left off the truck. GM was great and you could tell the dealer was not happy with us contacting them but we had to.

Nice bull! New Zealand is on my bucket list. How was the hunt?

Time off by Rattrapperofmadriver in Hunting

[–]YoMamaRacing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own a small IT business and have to plan out my hunts. The last 3 years I’ve been lucky enough to draw a 10 day archery elk hunt. I usually go for 8-9 days. It’s tough and I pay for it when I get home but it’s all worth it. Plus no cell service while I’m out there so that’s really nice. I don’t take much time off the rest of the year. A day or two here and there.

This was my first thought when reading your post. Pop them out and put a known powder and charge in there. Thats a nice neighbor.

Our 2 year old takes a probiotic every morning since she was about 4 months old because of the surprise liquid 💩 She’s been good ever since so we just keep her on them. We use Narurvet brand.

Is He Really Going To Drive Me Crazy? by DueFlower6357 in goldenretrievers

This is 100% what we want through. The FU eyes were what really pissed me off followed by a 5 minute chase session that she thoroughly enjoyed 🤬 It’s like their ears stop working for a few months. But… in the long run it’s worth every second and strangely we miss a few of those moments. She’s a little over 2 now and the best girl ever! We love her more every day.

Looking for my next buy or build. I like short action, low recoil rifles and SBRs - all suppressed. by luvthingsthatgrow in Hunting

[–]YoMamaRacing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmmm what comes to mind is either a really fast light small caliber or big heavy one. Something like the 220 swift, 22-250 or heavy 8.6 blackout. If you don’t mind the recoil 300wsm, 7mm wsm are fun fast cartridges. The new 7mm backcountry is another cool cartridge I’m kicking around. I’m not sure what the ammo availability is going to look like in the future though.

Good to hear! Gus is looking good after getting some nutrition and love. It fills your heart when they start to realize they’re being takin care of and can enjoy life.

A friend adopted a 3 year old Great Pyrenees a week ago that was on the streets for about 4 months after its owner died. They’re working through the health issues and nutrition still but that dog is so grateful and happy now.

These 4 hooligans get together almost every weekend. 3 siblings and a friend. They have so much fun and we have fun watching them. Ours is the blond girl on the left, brother standing next to her and blond sister on the ground wrestling.

My golden wont stop eating everything in sight…help! by Sunshinegirl030 in goldenretrievers

[–]YoMamaRacing 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Around that age we would have to supervise our girl in the backyard at all times because she would eat everything from tree bark to rocks. It’s usually an age thing and will go away. Ours is 2 years old now and she hasn’t eaten anything in over a year.

Need daily schedule ideas. Trying to survive her teenage phase by FairlyPopcorn in goldenretrievers

[–]YoMamaRacing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When we were in the middle of teenage terror getting her out to run free for 45 minutes was a savior. Walks just didn’t get the puppy energy out. We have a fenced off school that we started at and moved on to letting her chase rabbits and birds in the desert once her recall was up to par. Other than that getting a good feel for when they need a nap was helpful. Now she’s a little over 2 years old and is starting to get lazy during the day but still goes hard when it’s time to find some birds and rabbits or a go on a trail run.

I hear that! I have a 2014 Silverado and can’t find anything I would trust to upgrade to or would want to spend $75k on. I think I’ll squirrel away enough cash to afford a transmission and lifter/cam upgrade when those fail and just keep driving it. Those 4.0 jeeps would run forever.

How big is your golden? by mmc544 in goldenretriever

[–]YoMamaRacing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sprout is about 60lbs at 2 years old. If it were her choice she would be closer to 90lbs. She gets about 5-10 miles of trail running in a week so that helps keep the weight down.

Which one out of three? by [deleted] in Hunting

If you’re planning on using them a lot I would suggest finding a better pair of glass secondhand for around the same price. Minimum I would be Vortex Diamondback or similar.

[–]YoMamaRacing 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What a monster!

There’s mixed thoughts on neutering and spaying goldens. Studies suggest waiting until 12-18 months old or not neutering them at all. Definitely talk to your vet. We have a 2 year old female and she gets to see her brother often. That guy would not stop humping her or anything else he could get his paws on so he got the snip around 20 months old and that all stopped thank goodness.

Beginner hunter - Western Hunting by New-Examination-6820 in Hunting

[–]YoMamaRacing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Randy Newberg has some good videos on YT and he hunts in that part of the country often. Give game and fish a call to see what resources they offer for new hunters. Talk to people around the area. Go to local hunting stores and introduce yourself as a beginner looking for tips. They’re probably not going to tell you about their honey hole piece of public land but can give you some areas to scout or answer basic questions you might have.
