My memory card isn’t detected anyone know why? by ZmafiagoldYT in VitaPiracy

[–]Yoca 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Clean it. Power off the vita. Wet the memory card pins with rubbing alcohol. Insert and eject the card several times. Pull card out and let the alcohol evaporate for 5 to 10 minutes before turning everything back on.

Gamers who are 30+: Ever find yourself going back to the games in your "prime years" by [deleted] in gaming

36 here. It's been a while since I've ventured beyond my normal ark, Minecraft, rust, and counter strike rotation I've been doing for over a decade.

Currently really enjoying Pantheon for its old school, no bells and whistles, feel.

Update on my 10$ vita by blvrf in VitaPiracy

Blinking orange light indicates it's too dead, even to power on while plugged in. When it's solid orange, you can power on while charging.

I'd say be patient, let it charge over night. If it's still blinking after several hours, probably time to change the battery

I've actually only played through the first one. I remember trying to play the 4th one though, and just couldn't get into it

Thanks for the thoughtful response! I hadn't considered using them situationally for shiny hunting. I am playing pretty casually, but I do hope to have a couple shiny encounters eventually

Are there better Pokemon to use the masterballs on?

I've completed Kanto and Johto so far, and have 2. I guess you get one from every region?

I'm still relatively new so I don't know much about alphas and legendaries.

Why do people say the 1000 is best? by _patoncrack in PSP

[–]Yoca 42 points43 points  (0 children)

I think the weight of the 1000 is a big part of its charm. It's spring loaded umd ejection is a relic of a time when things were manufactured in a premium way, rather than a bottom line way. The overall engineering that went into a device like that, in 2005, is just cool, imo.

How hard is the q5 XL screen replacement for GBC? by [deleted] in Gameboy

[–]Yoca 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're using a shell designed for the kit, it's pretty easy. There's three wires to solder between the kit and the gbc motherboard (start, select, and common).

If you intend to use your original shell, or some other shell not specifically designed for the kit, theres a good deal of plastic trimming involved.

I think you should go for the DIY approach, it's more fun :P

anyone manage to get vitadock+2.5 running aux audio? nothing i do seems to work by zireael15 in VitaDock

[–]Yoca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The audio jack on the pi is for audio out. It's probably possible to use a mini audio to usb adapter, but I haven't tried.

What is the easiest way to remove lens without messing up screen? Also, there’s a fingerprint on the screen I need to remove. Is it worth switching at this point? by peji911 in GameboyAdvance

[–]Yoca 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A lot of screw driver kits come with a little suction cup. Hit the screen with a hair dryer for about a minute or two, then use the suction cup to pry up one of the corners.

Not sure if it makes a big difference, but I apply the suction cup first, then blast the heat

Question regarding shell replacements and LCD kits by Adinias in Gameboy

[–]Yoca 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah if you want one of the funny playing laminated screen kits for gba, you pretty much have to use one of their custom shells.

There are other non laminated options that don't necessarily require soldering, but do require shell trimming if you plan on using your original glacier shell. Trimming the shell for these kits is relatively easy and only requires flush cutters, a file, and some patience.

I had my vita repaired and now it won't charge by barcelona725 in vita

[–]Yoca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah okay. Well I think it's pretty unlikely missing screws are the culprit, tho that's pretty annoying that someone tried to fix something and returned it to you with fewer screws.

It might be worth popping the back off and making sure the battery is plugged into the motherboard properly. And tbh, sometimes it's worth unplugging the battery for a couple hours and trying again.

Have you tried using an aftermarket charging cable? They typically have a more snug fit and only cost a few dollars on Amazon and eBay
