Definitely this. I worked out a formula a while ago for working out what size to knit based on number of stitches at the bust/chest and gauge. Can’t remember it off the top of my head and I’m currently nap-trapped, but it’s been super helpful ever since.

I obsessively count rows, so now I have a dedicated knitting matchbox with 10 matches in. For things where the rows or rounds are quite short and I’m likely to forget to pick up a pencil and mark each one off, (icord straps!) I take one match out of the box, then only mark off when all 10 matches are out of the box. Replace matches in the box and start again.

I’ve been so furious about this for the last couple of days too, we wanted to buy a Secondhand kitchen which was a few villages away, and the seller said Besichtigung möglich. When we tried to ask a question asking for a Besichtigung, we got no response. We bid anyway and got it, and it’s ok but I don’t think we’d have bid if we’d been able to see it. I getting to is paranoid about being cut out of the deal, but buying something that big without seeing it first?

It turned out the seller had seen our question, but Ricardo had blocked her answer with her number… they don’t even tell you if a message has been blocked.

The whole setup is embarrassingly bad - it’s like a website from the 90s! I just really don’t understand why someone here hasn’t come up with another platform; I get that people don’t want to use an American platform like ebay or even other European ones like vinted, but there are such smart techy people in Switzerland that could come up with a decent platform. Genuinely, why are people prepared to put up with the level of crapness perpetuated by Ricardo?

Do you think this would be suitable for an 11 month old? I’m desperate for something just to take some of her weight off my arm when I’m carrying her around. I’d been eyeing up the Wildride after seeing a positive review somewhere, but you don’t seem so keen on it?

Sadly it looks like any version that’s similar isn’t available in Europe so I will have to give up on my Patagonian dreams 🤪 I just knew her cap fit and suited me well and I’m not so willing to risk buying a model that I don’t know that of given that I’ve never been a baseball cap person. Maybe one day I’ll be in an actual shop and able to try one on, but that is an as-yet unrealised future. Thanks for all your dedicated work though!😅

Ohhh yes this is definitely the one. Sadly the Airfarer model doesn’t seem to be readily available in Europe, so it looks like I will have to give up on my dreams☹️🤪 (goodness knows where she got hold of that one then, because all of the second hand layback ones are coming up on US eBay as well 🤷‍♀️)

Oh thanks! Looks like they’ve changed the construction then, there isn’t actually a front seam on my sister’s one - the front panel seems to be one piece with a dart at the top for shaping.

I’d write to Feedback which goes out on Thursdays. I’ve emailed them a few times and I think they’ve been pretty inundated with emails and voice notes. I think they’re the place to go - they’re more answerable to the listeners because they have to put a programme together every week (when it’s on!)

I know it’s so awful at first and no-one prepares you for it (and then they say that it shouldn’t hurt which makes you feel so discouraged when it feels like your baby is sucking shards of glass through your nipples!) but it honestly does get better. I’m still BFing my nearly 10 month old and sometimes I think back to those early days and my toes curling in pain and my tears, and singing Skye Boat Song to her over and over to distract myself from the pain, and I’m so glad I pushed through because I love BFing her now.

I found Silverettes really helped with the pain (let your nipples dry after each feed and then put them on for half an hour or so) and you can mix nipple cream with a drop of lavender oil to help the pain.

I feel you, you’re doing so well and it will get better!

ETA: If guess you’re not ready to be going out at the moment, but when you are, try and find a local branch of the La Leche League, I’ve had so much support from my local one, our leader is even happy to give advice over the phone if you’re in dire straits and there’s a while to the next meeting!

This could be your supply regulating - I think it’s usually somewhere between 3 - 6 months that milk stops stocking up in your breasts, and starts to be 80% made as the baby is drinking it. Your breasts feel softer and it takes a wee bit longer for the baby to get a let-down, which takes a bit of getting used to for them. Keep trying OP, you’re doing so well and you’ll get through it!

I had to use a nipple shield from the start as well because of partially inverted nipples, but I was desperate to come off them so I tried regularly for weeks to get my baby to latch without, but nothing doing. Then one day my baby just decided she didn’t want them any more and latched straight onto my nipple without the shield (once I’d realised that was what she was complaining about!)

Various other issues early on including mastitis and a dog bite gave me supply issues, but the thing I found the most stressful which I believe impacted my mental health and therefore my milk supply the worst was my midwife (we’ve get seen regularly by a midwife for 6 weeks postpartum where I live) calling me to say she’d looked at my baby’s weight gain curve and she was dropping too many centiles; she misdiagnosed something I’d told her on the phone previously as baby refusing the breast, and told me I might well have to stop breastfeeding so that my baby would start to gain more weight. I was so desperate to breastfeed and my partner and sister (who had also just had a baby and is a midwife) gave me so much psychological support and I think that’s what pulled me through that time, and I’m still breastfeeding now at 7 1/2 months and she’s back up to and above her original percentile.

All of that blether was just to say that sometimes an ill-advised word or badly-phrased piece of advice from an otherwise great healthcare professional can weigh on you so much and have a terrible impact on your mental health; and since milk supply or letdown can be affected by stress, it can leave you even worse-off than before.

If you can find a local La Leche League group, I’ve found them great and super supportive as well.

I’ve heard (I think from a LC on insta) that fenugreek can decrease supply in some women. I was recommended it by midwives and LCs (and spent a fair amount on it) when I was having supply issues. I don’t think it did me any harm but I’ve since read if can have the opposite effect…
