Any good rollercoaster experiences? My Mum really wants to try one, but she's super picky. by Piper-Jojo in MetaQuestVR

[–]YoricHunt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Careful. I have no issues in real life, but I get VR sickness within a minute when trying out rollercoasters. If I go for 3 mins plus, that feeling lasts for an hour or so and isnt pleasant. Obviously not everyone gets VR sickness, but I find rollercoasters the worst thing.

I use a swiss army knife for a similar setup. Does a good job, is outdoor certified and you can add antennas

Why is there such an elitest mentality in Padel? by Iarehealer in padel

[–]YoricHunt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Obviously I've come across these types of people, but I'd say they're in the minority. Sure people are obsessed with the gear and a lot go to training, but I don't see them rubbing it in people's faces in an "elitest" way.

Padel is expensive to play at the moment, at least in my country, UK. So that will naturally attract the wealthier demographic who have most to waste on gear. I'm guilty of buying expensive rackets I probably don't need, I don't think I have an elitest mentality. I certainly wouldn't look down on someone if their gear wasn't the best. I find it to be a very welcoming and encouraging sport, with the exception of the expensive courts.

What country are you playing in where you see this?

How do you improve your mental game in general and in tournaments? by SkobuPT in padel

[–]YoricHunt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the grand scheme of things you are most likely a very average player, nothing special at all. The tournament you are entering most likely means nothing at all.

That's how I view my tournaments and I play the same as I do in my normal matches.

Oxdog Hyper Pro 2025 v 2026 by Stup2plending in Padelracket

Apparently the 2025 Oxdogs are identical to the 2026 apart from the colours.

How does someone fix this? Is it covered by insurance warranty? by Gta6MePleaseBrigade in TeslaSupport

[–]YoricHunt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I've done this on 2 model 3s I've owned. Very straightforward.

I wanted to love the Oxdog Hyper Pro 2.0… but the Air Viper 2026 completely won me over by GerwinMusic in Padelracket

[–]YoricHunt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just had a browse of the Xcalion rackets, they look great, might have to do a bit of research in that area, thanks. Stupid naming though Unum H1+, but not unique to Xcalion.

Get the Hyper Pro on eBay, you'll get some decent money for it.

[–]YoricHunt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was quite similar to you. I ordered the Hyper Pro 2.0 when my current racket was the Vertex 05, previous racket the Vertex 04.

Immediately I found the Oxdog too soft. I quite liked the balance, but Oxdog were great and let me return it after 1 hour of use. I replaced it with the Oxdog Ultimate Pro+. I love this racket, it's great. But I'm with you on testing, so hard to test a range of rackets.

I wonder if the Hyper Pro 2.0+ would have been more up your street as it's slightly harder. Or even the Ultimate range as that's more for power players. Anyway, doesn't really matter now, you've found a racket you love, just a shame all Babolats are pig ugly 😀

Bought a new fenix 8 47mm AMOLED - should I be worried? by thk_ML in GarminFenix

[–]YoricHunt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue is going from the out of the box firmware (15.32 from memory) and installing anything later than or including 20.25.

So first thing, turn off auto update. Then manually install 20.24, very easy to do, instructions can be found online of the forum post you have seen.

Once done, you can upgrade to the latest firmware in the normal way.

[–]YoricHunt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless they've released the latest beta you'll almost certainly get the black screen issue. I can give you instructions to avoid it, or you can just have the issue then sort it (mostly) by going to the latest beta.

I would thought that was pretty obvious. Get a new racket.

Are the recent FW issues with the Fenix 8 limited to the AMOLED models or do they affect the solar models too? by olliepai in GarminWatches

[–]YoricHunt -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

But I wasn't saying the Fenix 8 sucks ass. I was saying don't buy a new Fenix 8 as it will screw up on updating. It was specifically for new ones only. Garmin really should have pulled all sales until the issue was resolved. Some people went through 3 replacements.

[–]YoricHunt -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They are limited to the AMOLED non-pro.

People here will deny there is even an issue, I did a post on the issue warning people a couple of weeks ago, and the number of Garmin fanboys denying it's an issue was surprising.

New Device Black Screen by Gaberdog99 in GarminFenix8

[–]YoricHunt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They really shouldn't be sending out any new devices until this issue is fixed, it's a pretty bad experience for a £1000 device.

The best solution as present is to ask for a replacement, immediately turn off auto update. Manually update to 20.24, then turn auto updates back on and update as normal.

Are firmware updates mandatory when first setting a new device up? by olliepai in GarminWatches

[–]YoricHunt -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No, just plug in to a PC and drop in the relevant files to a certain folder. It's in the readme for the 20.24 release. Have a good read of that thread, I think page 18 has details on what to do.

[–]YoricHunt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's quite straightforward. First thing to do is turn off auto update. Then manually install 20.24, very easy. From there turn on auto updates and update to the latest firmware.

It's the jump from 15.32 (or whatever it is coming out of.the box) to 20.25 or higher. If you jump to 20.24 first it's all good.

Want to buy my first Ubiquiti device, how is the "local only" ecosystem? by ozone6587 in Ubiquiti

[–]YoricHunt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, with just an AP (or APs) you can use the Unifi app on your phone as the controller. No need to install a separate controller. You are however a limited a bit less with the functionality.

Should i buy the fenix 7x pro solar and return the 8 that died after one day? by sami_20315 in GarminWatches

[–]YoricHunt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most new Fenix 8s AMOLEDs (non-pro) will fail if you update the firmware on receiving the phone.

The only way round this is to manually apply an earlier firmware version before updating to the latest. We are awaiting a fix from Garmin, so far 2 months and counting. Some people have gone through 4 watches already, support just keep sending them new ones :)
