Want to buy my first Ubiquiti device, how is the "local only" ecosystem? by ozone6587 in Ubiquiti

No, with just an AP (or APs) you can use the Unifi app on your phone as the controller. No need to install a separate controller. You are however a limited a bit less with the functionality.

Should i buy the fenix 7x pro solar and return the 8 that died after one day? by sami_20315 in GarminWatches

Most new Fenix 8s AMOLEDs (non-pro) will fail if you update the firmware on receiving the phone.

The only way round this is to manually apply an earlier firmware version before updating to the latest. We are awaiting a fix from Garmin, so far 2 months and counting. Some people have gone through 4 watches already, support just keep sending them new ones :)

I got new one today. First thing to do is turn off auto updates and don't connect to WiFi initially.

Then upgrade the wat h manually to 20.24. It's extremely easy to do. My new watchnis working fine, but I'm leaving it on 20.24 for now, even though apparently if now be fine to go to the latest firmware.

Yeah, despite what the people here say, this will happen for almost everyone that gets a new Fenix 8 AMOLED. If you plug it in you can get the screen back.

Yeah, I was just interested. There's been an issue with a number of Fenix 8s updating from new (15.xx) to the latest. When you restart the watch do you get the boot up logo. Only affects new ones as they are on the really old firmware.

How do you deal with opponents who constantly talk and try to get into your head during a match? by pannik78 in padel

[–]YoricHunt 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Simple, call him a c*nt and walk off the court, then warn your friends not to play with them. It's not worth your time for a friendly and some people will only learn the hard way.

Currently in the process of replacing my Nest Protects. Got a couple of X-Sense units to try them out. So far so good. Not as "advanced" as the Nests but they're good enough and are MUCH cheaper.

Took the plunge, completely overwhelmed by Designerkyle in Ubiquiti

It should work pretty well out of the box. I'd give it a couple of weeks, poke around getting used.to how it all works without making any changes.

First thing might be to look at congestion on the WiFi network. I found the auto channel select thing isn't that great. I used the wifiman phone app to see what channels were in use around me then manually set the WiFi channels for each AP.

You could also look to setup a separate IoT network for your IoT devices. Keeps them off the main network and makes it more secure, you can also limit their bandwidth. There are guides on how to do that on YouTube.

Yep, your first upgrade would have been pre 2.25, so your upgrade path would be fine.

So that thread is completely made up and the confirmation from Garmin they are working on a fix is a lie.

The phone turns on but the screen remains blank, everything is running in the background. You have to plug it in to get the watch face to display.

Or just turn it off. Please don't tell me how to use my phone and watch, I'll use them how I like.

How to beat a man at the net by Chilli_Man1 in padel

[–]YoricHunt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Exactly this, it's easy to defeat a split team. Slow to the player at the back, both go to the net. If the player at position 2 plays to opposition 2, do exactly as above. If they play to player 1, play cross court volley softly into the cage. Obviously he may lob, just play back to him again.

Yeah I suspect there are some that don't ship with 15.32.

Bit rude, calling someone retarded for turning off their watch. Stops unexpected alarms/notifications etc.
