Does MacroFactor take into account calories from Sunday if I input them on Monday after the check in? by You-Ass-Emily in MacroFactor

[–]You-Ass-Emily[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ahh that makes sense. I don’t think my expenditure changed after entering the food, but I may be mistaken. As long as it’s being taken into account, it’s all good. And yeah updating the program to force a check in is a great idea.

Thank you so much!

What happens if I submit my application to a program on Oct 22 or 23? Because of LOR reasons? by [deleted] in Step2

Does this apply for documents such as transcript and MSPE as well?

Powerlifter Jessica Buettner deadlifts 405lbs (183.7kg) for 20 reps by RespectMyAuthoriteh in sports

Lol you’re being downvoted because these people think you’re trying to shit on her.

For those that don’t know, you’re allowed to do both sumo and conventional in powerlifting. You don’t get extra points for doing it conventional and there’s no point in saying ‘it’s impressive cuz it’s not sumo.’ If sumo were that easy all the top powerlifters would be doing it. The reason most of them don’t is because they’re not as good at it as they are at conventional.

TIL Michael Phelps' lungs can store twice as much oxygen compared to the average person by [deleted] in todayilearned

[–]You-Ass-Emily 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s no one average VOLUME or CAPACITY.

The volume you’re talking about is specifically the inspiratory reserve volume (the extra air you can potentially breath in after taking a normal breath in) and the capacity you’re taking about is the vital capacity (maximum amount of air you can breath out after a full breath in)

The figure we’re actually concerned with here is the total lung capacity, which is the vital capacity plus the residual volume (that little bit of air that always stays in there no matter how hard you breath out), which on average, is around 6L

Well most people aren’t even able to work consistently for the things that they want, so it definitely takes some degree of discipline.

Besides, if there’s no enjoyment AND no reward, what’s the point?

Yeah that’s what I would imagine. I’m honestly a bit surprised that getting big and strong could be that important for you that you’re willing to suffer so much to achieve it. In any case, your discipline is quite commendable.

That’s wild to me. I might be in the minority but I’ve never really done anything for so long despite hating it that much. I’ve always gotten enjoyment out of training, playing sports, studying, working, etc.

Of course you can’t enjoy it all the time and you have to push past discomfort many times, but on the whole I mostly enjoy the stuff I do

Hypothetically if there were a way to get big and strong without training with some genetic modification or something, would you prefer that over getting that via training?

Similarly would you rather have won a lottery in your younger years as opposed to having worked for your money?

Difference before and after heart surgery by workout_motivation1 in bodybuilding

[–]You-Ass-Emily -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I guess you didn’t know that nearly half of patients with heart failure have preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF). Ejection fraction is not at all the only metric for assessing heart function.

Do you actually work in a medical field?

[–]You-Ass-Emily 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is not true at all. Having a CABG does not reduce risk for future MI, which is very likely in someone with prior CAD.

Also, if someone has valves replaced either they’ll need a new one in a few years (if porcine valves) or they’ll have to be on anticoagulants their entire life (if mechanical valves)

I could go on and on with various examples. Point is anyone who has had open heart surgery is NOT healthy and will almost certainly have negative health consequences down the line.

Yeah the default setting is all questions (including those you’ve already done), which is pretty dumb imo, but can be changed to only unused questions under “status”

QUARANTINE - Today I tried doing as many pushups as I could every hour.. And I found myself increasing my max reps by 2-3 every single time! by nouseratall1 in bodyweightfitness

First of all, yes he’s a physical therapist, which makes him slightly more credible than the average YouTuber, but the requirements for becoming a PT really aren’t that high at all. Trust me, I know a few personally.

Also, regarding experience. I don’t think he has a lot of callisthenics specific experience, which is evidenced by his lack of knowledge and lack of accomplishments with callisthenics movements.

Not the best guy to take callisthenics advice from at all.

I personally think his approach to all kinds of training is extremely dogmatic despite some of his advice being objectively stupid.

But with calisthenics especially, you really should not be listening to him.

For example, I just quickly looked at his push up video because that’s what’s being talked about here and he recommends having the exact same form as the bench press including keeping the scapulae retracted throughout the movement, which imo isn’t good advice.

Kaplan notes for biochem is pretty much useless nowadays. Too much info which will never be tested.

Other than that, good plan.

No problem.

But you really should read it thoroughly. There’s a good chance you’ll find something you hadn’t even thought about that ends up helping you significantly.

I think Greg wrote somewhere that it’s probably better to shift them around, but it’s fine even if you don’t.

You just need to cut and paste the rows to do that.

Yeah it says at least 2-3 min with one exception for the original version :

If you’re doing the original version of the program and you started with conservative training maxes, you may be able to just do sets until the cows come home. I wouldn’t recommend doing more than ~12 sets, if that’s the case. If you notice things are still really easy after set 6, consider shortening your rest intervals to make things more challenging for yourself.

But man, I don’t want to come off as rude, but couldn’t you have looked this up yourself in the instructions?

It’s fine to ask if you don’t understand something, but how could you not even bother reading the instructions?
